20% Off Yamamoto at Dick's
Ok you guys know that it's 2007 right? if you want to know what's on sale at the dicks near you go to http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/ then at the bottom of the page click on "weekly circular" Make SURE you are looking at the circular for you area. It took me to Florida by default. Then you can browse the circular from the comfort of your chair with out having to go in to dicks to find out. I just saw Strike King soft plastics and Rapala lures are 20% off this week at my local dicks. Any time I have to spend running from store to store finding deals is time I could be fishing. What greater incentive could I ask for digging though the Internet instead of running around town. And of course sharing my finds with my friends here. Enjoy

Wader recomendation help
Ok so as for the advice that keeps daddy out of prison. Let's all move on and stay on that track for the rest of this thread. What I'm really looking for here is advice on quality waders that I can keep. The point of doing this research and getting this advice was so that I could benefit from the experience of others here at this forum in making a long term purchase that I would be happy with for some time. As I said I do tend to fish a lot and I can just picture all the places I'll be able to get to with waders on. I'm hoping to use these as regularly as time allows and for years to come. So are there any law-abiding members who have any comments on waders for me? On a humorous note the thought of my wife having to explain to our kids that the reason daddy is in prison is because he stole some rubber pants did make me laugh. It's like an episode of My Name is Earl

What would you buy your kid's for Christmas?
I have a 3 year old daughter who likes to go fishing with me. So this summer I bought her one of those disney princess rods for $10 that you see in every store from kmart to dicks. And it broke on her before the summer was over. one cast the whole thing came apart in her hand and the whold internals of the reel went flying in the water. She loved that rod (because it wa sa princes rod) and was very upset so we went to dicks and got a new one but not one of those again we got a combo unit that was multi-colored which she liked but which could have either the reel or rod relaced if needed as she grows. The nice thing about the princess rod was that it was so short but the bottom half of the pastic reel was molded into the rod so that you couldn't just buy another reel and put it on the little thing. I write this story so that both you and anyone who reads this knows that they are infact the junk you think they are. She's very happy with her new "Big girl" rod now. it was a zebco I think.

Wader recomendation help
The main reason I thought the booted wader would be the right one for me was that they looked like they'd be a lot easier to just slip on and go. Rather than having to get the waders on then get the boots on then lace them up. I tend to fish a lot but I don't always have a lot of time to fish so I do a lot of fishing that's less than an hour at lunch time and I was thinking the booted waders would be quick enough for me to slip on over my pants and start fishing without eating into my fishing time. But I've never worn waders and can't emphasize enough that I know nothing on this subject. Am I just thinking sort sighted on this? I'm looking for advice here because I don't want to get the wrong thing and then after some experience say something like Yeah I should have got stocking feet with boots Can you tell me why getting them separately may be better? I can see the advantage of being able to replace only one piece if I have a problem. And I can see that I'd have more customization in boot size vs wader size with them separate. And I've read several reviews of wader boots now saying how durable the felt is on those Cabelas master guide boots. And I'm having a hard time imagining felt holding up that well as a boot sole. Why would I want felt vs rubber tread cut boot soles in a wader boot anyway? Sadly the nearest Cabelas is in Penn and the one in CT doesn't open till Fall 2007 so right now it looks like I may have to wait till my annual trip to Minnesota to hit the Cabelas there on the way so I can try these on. But like most guys I hate trying cloths on so I'd like to be reasonably sure of my decision before I go to try things on for size.

Wader recomendation help
Not 100% sure this is the right forum for this request for advice/recommendations but my wife wants to get me my first pair of waders for Christmas and I don't know squat about waders other than they'd be nice to get me better casting angles sometimes. I'm in Massachusetts and fish in spring, mostly summer, and early fall. I fish both ponds and streams/rivers but don't own a boat of any kind. I think I've narrowed it down to breathable with attached boots. I'm looking for any advice at all on waders or brands to look too or stay away from. I know that with a lot of this gear most of us like the same sort of equipment so I'm hoping there's a gold standard wader out there that I don't know about. As for price range ...... well the bait monkey has been silent for a while and short of dropping a lump of gold down on a boat there's really nothing I need so I'd rather get a pair of waders I'm going to be happy with than cheap ones. I'd rather not drop the $400+ for the Simms ones but I could live with spending $200 plus but if I don't have to I'm even happier with that. So masters of the dry feet let the advice begin..

Is this boat good?
I've also been casually browsing boats. I'm not seriously looking just doing my research and I have to say that I'm glad that so many people posted to help this fellow forum user out of a potentially bad buy.

chum for bass
That's a great Idea! The next time I bring my daughter fishing I'll haver her run out of the car on the way to the spot and scoop up some road kill. I can't wait to explain to her she needs to shimmy up a tree so we let the maggots fall on us. Oh good times ahead! ;D

Demise of the two stroke...
I've actually been following this to but don't have any further informatiion. I'd be very interested to see how this pans out in the 2007 Boats next year. It would significan't effect used boat prices if this happens. We'll see but I'd be interested if anyone else has any information on this in the future.

Anyone Else Fish at Lunch?
As I just got back from fishing the answer is me too! I usually fish almost every day at work now I have a nice river and a few ponds very close by my office and can usually get in my fix. But since the heat has been so bad 98F today and weather.com says it feels like 108 with all the humidity :-/ I find the fish like to go deep which is had to hit from shore. So I've been mostly practicing my presentation technique more than practicing my hookset. > But as Shad said I find that it really helps to get that daily fix especially when It's hard to go fishing on the weekends and evenings with very little kids. PS. hukerthko I bought some Champion wicking tshirts that had me comming back in to the office after the weather today looking and smelling great.

I'm going to try something
I hope this helps. I keep a log online for free at http://www.fishing-logs.com/ and I also keep on in my palm pilot with a free program that can be found at http://www.3store.com/isofishing/freeware.html And no I'm not affiliate with either of these sites I'm just posting them to make it easier for others to keep track of things like this. I particularly like the palm pilot program because it's easy to modify and allows you to keep track of what kind of lure, attractant, method is working and click a button to analize the results of which fishing spot is the best and which lure works best etc. Over time I'm really interested to see the patterns.

The Magic Lure
I'm new to this forum as of today. I've got a fishing trip starting tomarrow for a week with the family (read that as can't fish as much as I want) and I had heard about the FAT BOY IKA somewhere else recently and had just recived my order of them this week. Saddly my rod snapped last friday and my new one hasn't arrived yet (read that as I'm going insane every day when I get home and it's not there yet). But I'm glad I found this thread I wouldn't have even though of riging it backwards and now I'm really looking forward to pitching it into Keoka Lake in Maine ( if my wife allows as soon as we get there tomarrow night.) Let me also just say that I've been searching the internet extensivly for a forum that's this active for about a month and am really glad that I found this one. And you can bet that the 4" 297 GYCB FAT IKA will be the first thing pitched tomarrow in after reading this thread. See you in a week.
