  1. Think this will fit the bill... And they're on "sale" with free shipping. I'll give it a shot
  2. All, Stepdad asked for a swiveling hunting chair for Christmas. I know nothing about them and I'm looking for suggestions... Here's what I know: Back rest with comfortable seat Light enough to carry easily (strap would be a plus but I think he could carry it by the frame also) Quiet 360 swivel He's probably 225# if that Thanks, and be safe out there!
  3. For you builders... Any suggestions on removing excess epoxy from a guide/insert? For what it's worth it's the Fuji K-Concept guides with F-Ring inserts.
  4. @Drew03cmc @T-Billy @Mike L So my buddy beat me to the punch and bought the BOGO lancer pro direct from ark to keep in Florida. I got my hands on it and turned around and bought myself a Tharp Money Maker for here at home. $99 after tax with TW black Friday +10%... No brainer.
  5. Fairly certain everyone who might get me a gift card for the holidays is aware of and waits until they are 10% off ?
  6. Agree with this. I probably throw a 1/4 more than a 1/2 but that's more about where I fish. Also want to pay attention to the hook thickness. Light wire and braid don't mix well. Also can't neglect @Siebert Outdoors Quality products and will help to guide you in the right direction. You can customize there, too.
  7. I hesitate to share this because it is most certainly selfish, but I hope some of you might understand. And to my point @Darth-Baiter go fish. Not trying to one up ya, just sharing my experience in an effort to show some support. When my dad was placed into hospice care (on a Thursday evening) I had a tournament scheduled for that Saturday. They gave him up to a week, but that's as good a guess as any. Whatever you believe (or don't) it was out of our hands. I made the decision to go fish - and it was exactly what I needed for my own mental health. Caught a 7+ for big bass and won the derby by a couple pounds. Honestly could have zeroed because the win that day was that in those 8 hours I was able to recharge and get my head right. I believe that "self care" allowed me to handle his passing and the events that followed in a much more appropriate way. Thanks, RT
  8. Quick update... Talked to my Lake O guide and he got me in touch with a buddy who does trips on HW. We're going to give it a shot. Probably only a one day deal but I don't want to regret not checking it out. Appreciate everyone's input. -RT
  9. ...until it's a stump. ?
  10. I've got to circle back to this... How would you describe Ark's "Mag" rating? The 7'2 MH/MF, 7'3 Mag MH/F and 7'6 MH/F are all rated 1/4-1oz. Or, keep it simple. What is the 7'3 mag MH capable of, and not capable of?
  11. We're going 2 weeks after the elites leave. Promise you there will be boats sitting on all the areas the pros catch them on. Finding the spot within the spot is the key... If you can get to it. Same deal last year, we followed up the Toyota series. We stay with family over in Stuart and although Roland's was a must see, I prefer to go out of C. Scott Driver.
  12. That sounds an aweful lot like my Falcons. Lancer ~ Bucoo and Tharpe ~ Lowrider. Makes sense. Either way I win lol.
  13. Just booked my tickets for my annual Florida trip. We will fish the Big O again, but I'm considering a trip to Headwaters. What's the deal with this place? From a distance I've heard everything from greatest fishery in the state, to too much pressure and they'll only eat shiners. Can any locals weigh in and help me out?
  14. Do you prefer one over the other?
  15. The Tharpe money maker (7'3 mag mh) has a reputation of being extremely versatile. Same for the lacer?
  16. I've seen a lot of posts on the Ark Lancer Pro rods, and I've used them on guide trips, but does anyone know why they've been on sale for months now? I expected a new model release but I'm starting to think they are liquidating them... I'm looking to buy a couple rods to keep in Florida for our annual trip. If it were a rod I used often I'd go with the Tharpe series but these will get used 3-4 days a year. Should I be cautious of the Lancer Pro?
  17. For all of you who are using the Cover Scat, has anyone used the Biwaa Patate 60? If so, is there some similarity there? The quick backstory, I got the Biwaa Patate (2.5" I believe) in a subscription box years ago. It was during the time that the Ned rig was gaining popularity so I assumed it was another Ned style bait and threw it in my pile of misfit creatures. Figured out that it fit well on a 3/0 EWG and could be fished as an alternate presentation to a weightless senko. Doesn't seem like Biwaa is producing the bait any longer, and wondering if the smaller size Deps could replace the Biwaa...
  18. I did 2 days on Okeechobee in February and the fishing was brutal. I think we boated 7 fish. However, my guide worked his tail off. IMO he did everything in his power to make it a successful trip, and educated us on the lake in the process. $400/day I gave him $1,000. Check my math but that's 20%. When I say brutal, we overheard shiner guides at Roland's who were giving full refunds to their clients. *One thing that will lower my tip is if the guide fishes any more than just testing a lure for us to use. I always ask that question up front. I never want to be back seated on my own dime. I've said this in previous posts but communication prior to the trip is critical. The first impression I receive regarding their customer service is useful in selecting the right guide, and getting you on the same page. When done thoroughly, I'm completely comfortable with them earning an extra 20%.
  19. I go when I can and play the hand I'm dealt. The heat of summer can be tough (on us) but it makes the lakes I fish rather predictable. Plenty of H20 and the right clothing/sun protection are critical. I'm a shallow water guy, and I'll spend all day making 1,000 pitches into grass and anything that creates shade hoping to hit 5 of them in the head. Usually works, but you have to be commited to it and stay in it mentally or they'll catch you with your pants down. I'm sure others here can chime in on deep water success... Either way fish can be caught.
  20. Welcome!! Not sure about the fishing, but you will find a lot of Dawgs in your area!!
  21. I prefer braided mainline to a fluorocarbon leader, but straight fluoro will work fine. It's going to be a little more expensive in the long run (if that matters) but you may like it over braid when fishing in wind.
  22. Ok I need that half hour of my life back... Actually came here to ask how to add an item to my cart ?
  23. Is "Linda O" the name of the pond? Trying to figure out how to offer some suggestions...??‍♂️
