  1. I just want to say thank you for the advice on the milford smallies. I ended up catching 17 most in the 1-1.5 range with the biggest being 2. All but one came on the ned. I had one on a spook which was fun watching him blow up on that. I threw a bunch of other stuff but they would not touch it. Ned was the ticket.
  2. Right after it rains im throwing a weightless t-rigged or wacky stick worm where the water is running in. Other wise I like throwing top water ( wake baits, frogs, mouse type baits, spook type baits). If there is any rocks or boulders running around the pond I will throw weightless lizards as close to the rocks and slow roll it. Bluegill colors work the best for me in the ponds that I fish as they are usually crammed pack full of them.
  3. Really clayton summed up everything you need to know about catfishing. 98% of my fishing is for catfish and I would of told you pretty much the same thing. Just catch you a couple of blue gills, chunk them up or keep them alive and have fun.
  4. Thanks for the info Brian I will not be to far from the dam so I will definitely be hitting that for the smallies. Can't wait to get out there. Friday can't come soon enough.
  5. I have a lot of plastics and I usually prefer to fish them weightless so that sounds like what I will be going with. I will be definitely throwing the ned and will take some keitechs and some paddle tail flukes. Thanks again for the info. I am going to dedicate most of the day friday to catching some smallies then the rest is going to be all blues. Hopefully I can get into a few and have something other than some sunset pics to post.
  6. Thanks Clayton I appreciate the info. I will give those areas a try. Since there is a lot of snags would I be better off throwing plastics or do you think I can get away with some shallow diving cranks, or maybe some floating jerkbaits?
  7. I am heading to milford at the end of the week for a weekend of catfishing and was thinking the i might try to go for some smallies while I am there. I was hoping that I could get a little help with a location that I might run into a few from the bank. Any help is appreciated.
  8. This was going to be my response as well. Any new pond or pond that I can not seem to get a bite in I will go as small as I can with my lure selection. Once I start getting bit on the small stuff and build a pattern for where the fish are and the presentations they are wanting for a particular pond I will gradually go up on the size of lures until I am not getting bit any longer. Don't be fooled by the size of lures in ponds. My biggest bass to date came on a road runner in a pond that is smaller than a back yard swimming pool. If you are not catching anything on the small stuff it may be time to move on.
  9. sitting at home wishing i was fishing
  10. I HATE seeing anything done in the gill area. Whether it be some one weighing a fish or picking up a huge catfish by the gill area. Most scales have a tare option and even if yours doesn't just subtract your grips from your final weight. Grips are the way to go.
  11. I did have a couple of times that it came back with grass in the tail so I could understand on those instances but there was many times it would come back clean and the front was still spinning.
  12. Yeah I really hope it was just a fluke as I really liked the action of it when it worked right.
  13. I tried mine out yesterday. The Front half was spinning as much of the back half. The only way I could get it to stop was to raise the rod tip high or slow roll it. It was pretty windy and choppy so I do not know if that had something to do with it or not. I will give it a shot on a calmer day to see if I have any better luck with it.
  14. I used the speed shad for the first time today. I was throwing the 3.8 k's magic color t-rigged with a 1/4 oz weight. I caught 3 today in 4 hours on a pretty tough bite. The action was good on a steady retrieve. Even when I slowed it down the tail was still kicking pretty good. I am not sure about the keitechs but after 2 fish the speed shad was pretty much destroyed. I just cut the tip off and rigged it upside down and it still had the same action. Caught the 3rd one with it rigged like that. I was impressed with the bait itself but the durability leaves something to be desired. I will buy more though
  15. Went to mize today for about 4 hours. Ended up with three bass and one crappie. All of the bass was caught on a bps speed shad and the crappie was caught on the ole ned. This was the biggest of the day.
  16. Thanks for the info clayton. I will be trying it out here soon then.
  17. Do you think a mh will handle the 90 size?
  18. That was one massive shad. Nice job. I am going to make it down there here soon.
  19. Went out to day for about 5 hrs . Caught my first ever ned fish. I ended up catching 16 off of the ned today. 1 on a hard body swim bait and one off of a brush hog. Pic of my first ned fish.
  20. It may help if you say hey I am going out on such date at such time at such place would anyone like to join me. It is starting to get into prime time fishing so I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities to get together with someone. One last thing is it may help to chime in more on the local thread a little more so we can get a little better feel for who you are. I don't mind fishing with new people but I like to have a pretty good feel for a person before I just meet up with some random person from an internet site. Click on the link below. There is a great group of guys that are always fishing somewhere close to you.
  21. Go get you a jar of gulp alive maggots and a size 10 circle hook. Most fun you can have on an ul rod and reel.
  22. I just want to say thank you for this video. It saved me 4 times today.
  23. Caught 7, 3 more got off before I got them in and 3 more that I just plain out missed. I have no idea how I missed the one on the pitboss. The bait hit the bottom the line started taking off to the left I swung and came up with noda. They all came on the L.H. square bill again today. The ones that got off was on a lucky craft flash minnow. Here is a couple of the ones I caught. All dinks but it was fun getting hit all day. They was in less than 2ft of water on rocks.
  24. Thanks a bunch for all of the help guys. I really appreciate it.
