I've reserved mine for use primarily as a night time bait.   Was a good idea

Do you think a mh will handle the 90 size?

I'd say it depends on your rods lure-weight limits.  Not all MHs are created equal.

Most all MH casting rods are rated at least up to 1oz so you'll be fine if you have the 90.

BTW, I had a topwater fish Friday, so it's not too early, especially with a bait that can be paused like the WP.

Thanks for the info clayton. I will be trying it out here soon then.

One thing I had noticed that I wasn't expecting, is that when you retrieve it super slow, it causes the body of the bait to have a noticeable side-to-side wobble.  I like that

Shortest review ever!! :D

I plan on grabbing a couple 90's and trying this season.

I love the whopper plopper.  I lost a 4# smallie and the treble hook to the split ring bending out though.

You should see my Smash Shad review

I love the plopper 90, but I loose a lot of fish on it. Started throwing it on a Dobyns Champion 734 with braid, I've backed off to a 705cb with mono and its gotten better.

saw it in action yesterday and really liked how you can just stop and go with it unlike a buzzbait that will sink when you pause!

I also like how loud it gets when you sweep the rod to the side and pull it through the water faster.   All of the different ways you can vary your retrieve makes this a definite keeper.  Now I understand why the Musky guys like this style of bait.

I swapped mine out for heavier hooks on the 130. I went to VMC Spark Point 4X strong hooks and haven't had any issues since. I'm fishing mine on a 7' 3" H/F rod with 50lb braid so a hook upgrade was pretty much mandatory.

Awesome topic. Just got one in this months box as well. When I told my brother and asked if he ever heard of it he nearly lost it. He couldn't believe it came in the box. I'm really excited to try it now!

I can't believe you guys got that in your mtb either. It's one of my favorite topwaters for early morning and at night and it's not cheap. I love the chugging sound it makes.

Yea the plopper alone covered the price of the box!

This was my first ever MTB so I'm beyond thrilled. I've been eyeballing the W.P. for a while now but was having trouble pulling the trigger on a $12-$15 bait. I did the promo code for my first Mystery box so the whole thing only cost me five bucks. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in there.

I lost a big largie when the belly hook pulled completely out of the bait.  It is possible that I cracked the bait when I landed it too close to a rock.  BTW, in my experience it is a big fish bait.  I probably caught 6 fish on it before I caught one under 4 lbs.

Line twist?

Noway

I fished this thing a dozen times, once when smallies were breaking. They wouldn't hit this thing but they were smashing a sammy. IDK.
