They cant do anything with the old model rod. None of their vendors are going to want it and they would be eating the cost of the new rod. I'd also feel a bit more sorry for someone who tripped and fell and broke their rod than someone who didn't try out the rod and waited 4 months to return it. That being said I'd still most likely trade it out hoping to gain a customer or at least explain the exchange before he shipped me the rod.

Amazon seems to have some of the lowest prices on the current models and they have now shipped me out of 6 orders an extra rod and reel and let me keep them both times.

If it's an older model I can see why they would want to make you pay the difference. Still should have told you up front.

Are they claiming it's not in new unused condition? First off if it was my buisness I'd take care of you and switch it out. But I could also understand if they felt that the rod was unsellable and since you waited quite awhile to return it to charge you the difference. I would of also have told you this prior to you shipping it to me. Anyways best of luck.

I'd agree with the above but I'd add in a topwater like a popper or buzzbait. I'd also maybe switch out the spinnerbait for a chatterbait. It's a little more versatile but either will do.

Blaming the customer for a poor business model is dumb. I bet maybe 1-5% of your customers may complain about finding a better price online. Why not offer to price match to those who complain? Add enough value to a customer and you won't have to worry about them coming in the door. Value is not just cheaper stuff. You can hold informational classes,offer cheap/free reel cleaning services,get samples from reps to give out. So many ways!

Where at in Ontario? How bigs the lake? A rule of thumb I follow is early morning and night time I fish shore structure. Beaver houses,logs,and rocks. Mid day I fish shoals and rockpiles. But I have also caught them in a foot of water midday and in 30 feet pitch black. Smallmouth are crazy. If it's a small portage lake just toss at every rock and stump you see.

Depends where I catch them. In northeast Ohio besides lake Erie I'll catch and release. Lake Erie and my cottage in northern Ontario I will catch them and eat them.

Just call some of the major companies that's product you would like to sell and find out if you can buy wholesale direct or what local or online distributors they use.
