For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Yes this was at Kingston. I fished it last fall for the first time and had pretty good luck so I figured I would give a good shot this spring and see what happens.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Wind was blowing like crazy and the water is still crazy cold but they are starting to turn on a little for me. Loving my new L.H. square bill in the pyromaniac color. So far it is the only thing they are hitting. The one yesterday was in about 3.5 ft of water and this one was literally sitting under a rock next to a retaining wall. The crankbait bounced off the rock and he slammed it when it came off the rock. He was in no more than 2 ft of water.

A little help on fishing points from the bank
Yes i have looked over the satellite imagery quite a bit. Any body of water that I hunt or fish usually gets google earthed. On google earth you can go back to like 25 years ago on the images. I will look for when the water was low and try to find holes and drop offs and such. Just curious as to why you chose those two points and that cove? What makes them more appealing than any of the others?

A little help on fishing points from the bank
I am bank bound so the ones I am looking at is at least in walking distance and for the most part fishable with out to much fighting through trees to get there. A. Quite a bit of a walk. Big chunk rock that drops off pretty quick. Right by the dam. B. Not to bad of a walk. The bank is about 6ft above the water. It would be tough to fish effectively. C. Pull up to the point. Very shallow sandy area. To the left of the point is boat docks that can not be fished from the bank. To the right of the point is shallow sandy flat. D. Never been over there so can't really tell you but looks very hard to get to when I am out there and looks even harder on the maps. E. Little bit of a walk but doable. There is a little bit of a drop of from bank to water but it is fishable. F. Pull right down to the point. Very fishable. Never fished it so do not know anything about it. I am open to all suggestions if you see something that i am missing. I am really a rookie when it comes to bass fishing and looking for any and all info and it is greatly appreciated.

Catch & Release
I personally don't keep any fish unless it is hurt badly. I am in the mindset that if the fish is legally caught it is your fish to do with as you please. I am a catfisherman at heart. I mainly fish for flathead and would like to see every one released, but that being said I am not going to jam c&r down any ones throat as they pay the same amount of money if not more than I do to catch fish. So I am not going to tell anyone what they can and can not do with their catch but one thing that I have a problem with is people keeping more than they will ever eat. To me there is no need to keep multiple 20 + pound fish just to fill your freezer. We no longer live in a world that we live off the land and need to keep every fish we catch to feed a family. There are rules and regulations put in place to manage a fishery and IF they are followed by the anglers the fishery will thrive. It is up to us as anglers to abide by the rules and regulations to make our fisheries a sustainable product.

Thanks a bunch guys for your reviews on it. I will more than likely be getting one very soon.

Thanks for the in depth review. How did the connection feel where you connected the line to the sonar unit? That is the main concern that I had was the connection point being weak and breaking or popping out of the deeper. I don't want to have to go swimming after it. I'm getting to old and fat for that mess.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Went out today for a few hours today and struck out once again. I threw a jig all day since I have never really thrown one I was trying to get used to fishing one and see what the bite feels like on them. I did get 2 bites on it today though. I felt the tap tap and a little pull that everyone talks about but when i went to set the hook there was nothing there so I don't know if they was just getting the trailer or what. I could definitely tell it was a bite though. I am making it a goal of mine to catch one on a jig before the year is up.

A little help on fishing points from the bank
Tom thank you for the reply. The big main lake point there on the east side and the one straight across from it to the right are the main two that I was talking about hitting as those are the ones that I can actually get to on the bank. The one that is right up on the dam on the east side is a cliff with no way to get down to it. In the back of the big arm with the main lake point is where I cleaned up on the smallies and largemouth last fall. I also seen some areas back there that that had beds. There is one more spot that is interests me. On the west side of the lake there is a point right up by the dam and it is all chunk rock that drops off to 20-30 ft deep. I am thinking that may be a good spot to hit as well. Thank you for giving me some ideas of how to attack it.

A little help on fishing points from the bank
I was hoping you guys could help me understand points a little better. I have a 400 acre lake that is close to me that has what I would call 6 main lake points 4 of which I can actually hit from the bank. I am wondering what you look for when trying to decide which point to hit? Being on the bank what should I look for on the bank to help me decide which one to hit or not? Just by looking at google maps I have a pretty good feel for which ones run shallower for longer oppose to ones that drop off to deeper water quicker. Which ones would be better to hit from the bank, the shorter distance to deep water or the longer to deep water? Is hitting points a first light type of spot or would it be a good spot to hit after the fish move from the shallows in the morning? From the bank I pretty much have to work the deeper sides of the point as I can not reach the deep water at the tip of the point. Should I work it from deeper water to shallow or shallow to deeper? Any other info on points that I may have left out would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks for your time.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I am 0 for 3 on the 2016 season so far. I went out for 4 hours today and did not even get a sniff. I did see a few bluegill out and moving around today though so that made me a little more optimistic that the pond is starting to wake up a little bit.

Experience with Deeper castable fishfinder anyone?
I would like to hear more info as well. I am bank bound and fish a lot of smaller ponds and lakes. I think it would be a great tool to have to help me find structure and the deep pockets. I have the same concern as the op.

Shakespeare Catch More Fish Baitcaster
academy mettle camo combo for $99 will get you into a decent rod and an above average cheaper reel and will work for a starter combo that is very versatile. I just picked up a silver max combo for $40 at cabelas on sale. good starter rod and reel that will throw up to 3/4 oz. I have thrown jigs, jerkbaits, crankbaits, chatterbaits, swimbaits(hard and soft), t-rigged plastics and it has handled them all. Decent little combo. With the spring classic coming up at bass pro on the 12th I am sure that you can get you some good deals on some decent setups for cheap.

Crankbait for 1 to 3 feet of water?
H20 express scsfw wake bait in bluegill color. I run it in 1-3 ft of gin clear water and I pound small mouth and large mouth on it. I run it on 10lb mono. Run it super slow and it will leave a very nice big wake or run it a little faster and it will run about 6-8 inches at the most.

what was your first lure
The first bass lure I used was a big grey mouse. I "borrowed" it from my dad. I dont know who made it but I used that thing all the time. Tons of blow ups on it but never caught anything on it. I still have that mouse. The first lure I bought for myself was a road runner. When ever I am having trouble catching anything I still break out the road runner and start catching fish.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I was hoping that you guys could help me out a little bit. There is a pond that I fish that had open water on it last friday. With this little warm stretch we are getting ready to have I am guessing there will be plenty of open water to actually fish this up coming weekend. I have only fished it a couple of times this last fall and I just used top water and caught a couple small ones. Then caught my first ever jerkbait bass in december. Since I have only fished it a couple of times I have not had a lot of time to really get a good lay out of it yet. I was just wondering if there is open water. What should I start throwing? I know I need to fish as slow as I can but just dont know where to start. I have never fished for winter bass before. Would dead sticking a jerkbait work or should I go with something a little more subtle like a jig or t-rig plastic. Any help is appreciated.
