  1. There should be an anti reverse switch on the bottom of the reel behind the spool. Flip it the other direction, if that doesn't work return it because it's broken
  2. The spawn was over with in April. I'm catching fish on jigs, Texas rigged plastics, drop shot, crank baits and chatterbait. The bite is pretty good on everything but topwater. I've been catching them from a foot of water to 15'. I have tried different parts of the lake, morning, evening and afternoon. I have tried around brush, on top of weeds and open water. I have tried hollow bodied frogs, buz baits, poppers and spooks. I have talked to other people fishing the lake and they have had the same experience as me.
  3. It's June and the top water bite is almost non existent at the lakes I fish. The morning surface temperatures are mid 70s and in the afternoon the water temp rises into the 80s. It's well above the magic 65 degree mark but the only thing breaking the surface are blue gill and crappie. Last year there was topwater activity in April, but it still has not started up this year. Laste night I even saw a frog swimming through the middle of the lake and nothing tried to eat it. For the past month I keep thinking that this is the week things change, but it continues to be the same as the previous week. Does anyone know why the topwater bite still hasn't taken off?
  4. Just think about how many you would catch if you had ten more rods
  5. I have an app that blocks ads on my phone and haven't seen the popup yet.

For shirts I wear this. It's UPF 50 and it was on sale for about $15 when i picked some up https://www.rei.com/product/863047/rei-co-op-sahara-long-sleeve-t-shirt-mens it feels warmer than short sleeves when I'm indoors but when the sun is on me I feel cooler with it on. If it's really hot just wet the shirt and the evaporation will cool you off
  7. This thread is useless without pics
  8. I would get a kayak. The boat might give you problems down the road, the kayak won't. A kayak will be easier to transport, launch and store. The downside to a kayak is that the wind can be a pain and you can't bring a friend unless they have one too.
  9. I know about pflueger odd sized, but I kind of wanted a smaller reel so I'm fine with it
  10. Here I was thinking I did a good job of not buying anything over the weekend and then you posted in the thread. It looks like it's a size 30?
  11. Use trilene big game. It's only a little more than the stuff you are using but is a line plenty of users in here recommend.
  12. It's probably breaking because when you backlash it puts a kink in the line and causes a weak spot. Omni flex is so cheap you can re spool st the end of the day if you had a backlash
  13. I use rods ranging from 7' to 8'. Rod length isn't really an issue
  14. I haven't owned a Gerber. My friend has one and it feels cheaper than my leatherman. The knives are in the outside of the wave and I get to the pliers all the time one handed by pushing it on my side to help open it
  15. Sounds like a good time to upgrade to the wave
  16. I like a chatterbaits because if you get a version with a weed guard you can pitch it into cover like a jig then retrieve it like a spinner bait
  17. It's sold at all of the Walmart near me. Nothing sold at Walmart is a forgotten lure
  18. It will work just don't have an air gap between the transducer and the hull of the kayak. I felt that down scam was worthless on a small display. The display didn't have enough pixels to show much detail and it was easier to find fish with 2d sonar. If you want down scan get a helix 5 or elite 5. Split screen is a nice feature when using down scan
  19. Fenwick 6'9" river runner elite tech and a pfluger supreme 30. It's my trout rod but I bring it along for crappie and bluegill when the bass bite is slow
  20. I had that same kayak a piranha max and then later a helix five. Both transducers had no problem shooting through the hull. My piranha max had down scan but was a useless feature on a small screen. To mount the transducer in the hull I had some foam similar to the foam of a pool noodle that I cut out so the transducer fit in the middle. I glued the foam inside thenkayak then would place the transducer in the foam with a handful of water. I punched one small hole in the lid in the middle of my kayak to run the transducer cable out of the hull. I modified the rod holder that is on the side so that I could bolt my unit to it. I never had to drill any holes in my kayak
  21. If you can straighten the hook before your line breaks I would call it overkill
  22. I would put my money on a fish. When I see something that isn't connected to the bottom that doesn't look like interference, I call it a fish. I'll make a cast depending on the depth and surrounding structure. Fish only look like arches if you are moving and they aren't or you are still and they move through your sonar cone. Sometimes they are streaks on the sonar, solid lines if you are stirring still and so are the fish or blobs like you have. i think fish might show up as blobs if you catch them on the outer edges of your sonar cone. My understanding of how sonar works is that the sonar is emitted as a cone from the transducer. A fish forms an arch when it passes through the entire cone because as it enters it is picked up at the edge of this cone. If you measure from the transducer to the edge of the cone it will be a further distance than from the transducer straight down. This is the first downward side of the fish arch. As the fish nears directly below the transducer the arch rises because the distance to the transducer is decreasing. As the fish moves away from below the transducer the distance increases and the arch slopes down until the fish is out of the cone. The fish is always at the same distance from the surface but your graph shows the distance from the transducer. If a fish just clips the outer edge of the cone it would appear at one depth and make a blob. This could be a single fish at the fringe of your transducer cone that just clips the cone twice to make two blobs I'm probably not 100% accurate with how fish images relate to sonar and I'm sure a more educated and experienced forum member could correct me. Some of what I wrote might confuse you because I wrote it from my phone and didn't want to spend half an hour typing everything up in detail. I can try to clear up and questions you might have
  23. Get the 8, just don't turn the handle as fast when you want to pick up less line.
  24. I wear one. I probably look like a tool but not having to keep putting sunblock on my face is nice
