  1. 2 girls on a farm got attacked by a rabid one in the next county over and thay finally shot him.I was wondering if this one was too, since he was running around in the daytime.
  2. Working in a residential area right by the river today mid morning and this fox comes running Cross the road.I was like dang are you lost ? Hopefully yall can enlarge the pic.and see him( or her)Its just right of Center at the bush. Share some of youre animal pics.
  3. cloudy days: watermelon seed. Sunny days: Watermelon red low light: June bug,or darker colors. I have had a good bite occasionally on the grape with green sparkle and chartreuse tail also. Talking fairly clear water for these. For the Yamamoto senkos these may not be the named color but try to get the closest to these you can.
  4. Maybe I missed something with this "rate of fall" thing. I used to use a 1/4 oz weight a lot and switched mostly to no weight.Occasionally I will use a bb shot now but only to help cast very light baits. Since I switched to weightless,my catch rate has gone up 75%. Not saying anyones wrong but its different strokes for different folks I guess. I will fish more weight if its real windy or deep water but otherwise, its weightless.
  5. Bass hunter and jon boat.Keepin' it simple.
  6. I sold my bass boat to avoid all the upkeep hassle.Bought a jon boat ,kayak, and bass hunter through the years.Less hassle, but Ive had leaks in the jon and kayak, and have had lots of trolling motor issues because thats about all thats left to go wrong! Most of them are battery issues. I was buying a new( so I thought) battery every year or so for 40-50 bucks from a local battery store.Came to find out that they were rebuilt batteries, thats why they were so cheap, and didnt last long. Ive learned a lot about batteries but they are mysterious at times.
  7. We call em mudfish in my area.( bowfin that is) I hooked one over10 pounds once while bass fishing with live shiners and thought it was a huge bass until I got it almost up on the bank.It started snapping with those cutters and bit through the line and flopped back in. I wasnt heartbroken.
  8. Got out for awhile this evening and got this 4.3 not long before dark.Caught her at what I call " big hole " the deepest water in the home lake.Caught her on a 5 inch senko, purple with a chartreuse tail. Caught 4 other fish too, some on the watermelon trick worms. Seen a decent fish on a bed but couldn't get her to eat.She did chase a lizard once. Nice, cool evening on the water.
  9. Overall : Jesus loves me. Fishing: There he is.
  10. 28 in NE Fla.this morning. I believe its only the 2nd freeze we've had this winter. The fishing was just starting to get good too......
  11. Ive had a lot of similar incidents. When I was 18 I was fishing in close and another teen that was on the bank with some girls I knew threw a wet towel at me when my back was turnt, hit me in my sunburned back.He was laughing until I jumped out and went up and whipped his butt. I would not recommend that nowdays. But back then you fought and it was over usually. Ive had to pray hard to overcome my temper and now I usually leave before I get riled up. You did the right thing.
  12. I like that.Made me think of my dad since he liked bears.
  13. Have fun Be safe .Catch em. Im planning to get out tomorrow too.
  14. Welcome! Got a lot of family in your area. You ever fish lake Waccamaw?
  15. Copperheads and shiners !!
  16. I have tried the single screw in hooks and I can't get a fish to bite since.I don't know why.I make sure it's straight and the baits make a nice ripple as they come in.When I used the wide gap 3/0 worm hooks it was aggravating because of the frog sliding down a lot,but at least I caught a few fish every now and then. As for the swimbaits,I have tried the slender 4 inch ? ones and have caught 2-3.The first cast I ever made with one I caught one! It was a kvd caffeine shad. I may have caught 1 more on it,and one on a shad looking swimbait.A friend swears they're great .It's weird, but in my lake it seems if you throw a bait made for movement, the bass rarely hit it.But if you throw a bait NOT made for movement they will slam it when you reel in.I guess it's a good problem to have anyway. Last week Texas hawgs on the forums was in town and went out with me .He was keeping a good bite going with the small( finesse ? )zoom trick worms dipped with a little chartreuse stain on the end.Was at academy tonight but forgot to get some. Thanks for the help.
  17. Squirrels and hogs mostly.I just can't get enough time for deer anymore, though I'd love to. Suburbia has crept up on me.Been looking for some pockets of woods nearby I can get permission to hunt like those people on " Chasing tail".No success so far. Where I live has changed so much in the last 40 years.Gone from rural to suburbia. At least I can still fish N the lake at home.
  18. I love fishing soft plastics, esp.in my home lake.Im looking for something in this category I can add to my arsenal of baits.Through the years Ive fished various worms, flukes, senkos and creature baits.Im getting the impression that the fish are getting used to my baits. I have tried other types of baits with limited results. The clear, shallow, and weedy lakes I fish just aren't best for hard baits. Different Subject: I am planning to do more frog fishing this year, but have not found a hook I like for them.I tried the hooks that screw into the frog in front, and Texas rig with the hook coming out on top in its back. They cast great and look good going across the water but I have not caught ONE fish with them ( Using horny toads or ribbits ) Not even one blow- up.I used to do better with a 3/0 wide gap hook, but the frog slips down nearly every cast.W hat hooks do y'all use for frogs?
  19. Are they any good to eat ? They resemble salt water drum, which to me are good. The smaller ones are better though. Nice sized fish though. Must have been a good fight anyway, though not what you were looking for.
  20. I occasionally listen to my phone while fishing- but only in the afternoon. I have Amazon music on there.Got several playlists.• Instrumental bluegrass • Country ( real country ).• bluegrass songs ,esp Gospel.,. Cajun, and a little southern rock. But I don't listen to it every time or the whole trip when I do listen to it. The fish CANNOT hear it,but if u start stomping to the music don't expect to catch anything!
  21. Sometimes I keep one rod on both sides railings.I keep extra rods in the bottom with them sticking up over the rails.Four rods is usually all I carry anyway. I love mine.I give up some space but it's more comfortable with the seats, compared to my jboat
  22. I'm starting to think I may need some new Genetics in here too.To my knowledge it was only stocked once way back.T here's no other way fish can get in,except for the once in a long time heavy rain that will overflow the creek into it. But we have so many fish already I'm hesitant.
  23. Theme songs:I like em all but fav.is Roland's. Fav.fishing song: I'm gonna miss her.
  24. Many people up here fish, but they do saltwater.People that used to bass fish have gotten into red fishing.Theres also more variety in saltwater. For that reason,I do see a lot of boats going that way. Also,we don't get much in media about bass fishing here.3/4 of it is saltwater. You have to dig to find out true reports.Of course, the mom and pop bait stores all seem to struggle ( many have gone under ) ,so the reports by some of them are inaccurate/ inflated to get folks to come fish there. My theory on big bass ,at least where I live,is that most people catch and release their fish, and there's less people overall fishing so that should equal more hawgs.I also think that many bass fisherman are fairly secretive about their catches , which I totally get. I also believe that the famous lakes/ rivers up here got SO much pressure in the 70s,80s and into the 90s that these lakes got largely fished out and people just quit going, after several trips with little or no result. These folks passed this negativity on to their kids so now they don't bass fish much anymore. As for me,I quit going to large water bodies and started fishing smaller ones,so my results were much better than they had been.
