  1. Had a friend invite me to his local pond today. This was the result.Caught it on a Zoom watermelon seed super fluke.Only fish on only bite.
  2. Not trying to be a know it all, but I've never heard them called coppernose .I've only known them as copperheads my whole life in Florida.I always have thought they were just mature male bluegills.
  3. Man, just get some sinking fish feed and bait up an area.It may take awhile to get them staying around. Then I either use a cut piece of bream or dead shrimp for bait.I only fish from dusk on into the evening.Caught 2 nice uns last night on the bream. There should be catfish in there unless otters has cleaned them out.
  4. Fished a new pond today and got a nice bass just under 4 pounds. While I was bass fishing I kept seeing big talapia in the area.I didn't know how to catch them. They wouldn't bite bass baits. The ponds full of them.Any ideas?I read where they bite live worms
  5. Haven't done that but I have fishing dreams occasionally. In one of them I catch bass out of my yard, but only at my childhood home. The weirdest one was catching a 5 pound bream off the top of the buckman bridge over the st johns river. ( Its probably 200 feet high at the crest.)
  6. I like the sinking feed better. When I used the floating feed, catfish never would come up to get it.
  7. Don't worry about it.My dad's idea of catch and release was catch and release it into his ice chest.
  8. Exactly.I can't figure it out but I love the show.Never sure if I'm watching an old show or new one.I CAN remember if I saw it before or not.Not sure who's ahead, in or out but its great.Seems like one week someone loses and then reappears later. Then someone wins or places and you don't see them anymore.Sorry y'all, I may be dumb but I'm really not stupid.
  9. I have trouble keeping the hook in it which is important for the weedy lakes I fish
  10. Man that ending was great but stunk at the same time.Go heels!!
  11. Got to hear him in concert in the 80s in Gainesville Fl. I liked a lot of his songs but probably my 2 favorites were Walking on the fighting side of me and mama tried.
  12. My uncle has a place on it but he mostly fishes stripers.Don't know if they count in the tourn. Or not.
  13. What's a good hook size for them? The ones I have are 2 inch. Can't ever seem to find the right size.
  14. Hey.I grew up in jax.and still live on the south side.I've fished a lot of small lakes and ponds here, esp.on the s.side, mandarin, and northern st Johns county.A great place to bank fish is Julington Creek plantation. Its a large housing development in northern st Johns. You can fish any of the lakes as long as you don't go in people's yards.Theres plenty of ponds with a lot of walking areas. They are nearly all stocked.Try the ones closer to Hwy 13 off Davis pond blvd and dewberry Dr.but I've caught fish in many of the other ponds as well.My go to bait there was a zoom salty super fluke in watermelon seed.Texas rigged. There are also some good lakes about 1-1.5 hours south and west.If you really like to fish remote lakes try the ocala nat. Forest , about 1.5 hours to the south. Its full of lakes and ponds. If you send me a pm I can tell you some more specificinfo.welcome to the area and thanks for your service.
  15. I started playing baseball when I was 8.I was terrible. We kept score and we sometimes got hit with the ball and we sometimes skinned our knees ,_got lectured by the coach and lost games.Guess what? I was motivated to learn the game and did.I ended up playing 10 years in association ball then high school , then college.Then16 years of church league softball.I did it because I loved the game.I know a lot of guys who took similar routes and none of them ever complain about the hard things in sports.Kids are pampered too much nowadays. We weren't and we still loved it.
  16. I went to my gdaughters t- ball game and got there late for the first game.First thing I asked is What's the score.? The person I asked looked ate funny and said They don't keep score.I looked at her funny and said What's the point of playing the game then?.And she said The kids are just having fun.I thought dang, I had fun when we kept score when I was a kid.No wonder most of the kids look bored. One kid struck out and they gave him a fourth strike and he struck out again.Moral of the story is that most growth in life takes place from hardships and dissapointments.
  17. Watch "Two Brothers" on YouTubeTwo Brothers by Chris Stapleton.
  18. This is N Fl.One year around 5 years ago we got Over 30 freezes. The bass really shut down when its like that.Good time to get some squirrels and such.
  19. Its Always bass season where I live. But when its real cold( which isn't too often here).,I hunt.Or do winter yard /house chores.
  20. I've done A LOT of saltwater. All kinds except not much offshore .I have done some bottom fishing out there.Mostly I do inshore with my son.We mainly fish for Reds, flounder, and sheepshead.I also do some surf fishing mostly in the fall.If I had to pick one kind of fishing and give up the rest I would keep bass fishing.I can't really explain why.Just love catching em.
  21. My philosophy is any time.Fish have to eat to survive no matter what time of year it is.
  22. I've used both with great results. At my home lake that I fish most of the time I believe that they bite anything better if its not the same thing all the time.
  23. I've had several and have been one a few times. My first friend that taught me about bass fishing invited me to go with him and his dad to their once a year bream trip in the St Johns river. Before we ever launched the boat I knocked the crickets over .Most of them escaped and went all over in the boat.During the day we would have them crawling up our legs etc.Sometimes we would step on them.It got to where we would try to catch them in the boat when we ran out in the can,or listen to them chirping and try to find them.Never got invited again for some reason. The worst"that guy"I ever took was my buddy from school "hoot owl". He begged me to take him so I did.We went speck fishing in a lake near Gainesville fl.After 5 minutes I got the strong impression he had never fished in his life.He could not bait his hook without losing the minnow.I baited the hook and he would throw it off because he couldn't coordinate how to throw a zebco 33.In fact, he's the only person I've ever fished with(including small children) that got a birds nest with one.And then held it up and said " Somethings wrong with my reel."He begged me for a hat to wear.I let him borrow one of my favorite Florida Gator hats with the condition that he not get it wet.In a little while I saw it floating by.I finally just made him drop his line over the side of the boat and an apparently very low IQ speck actually got on his line.
