  1. Mister Twister electric and Rapala to remove the ribs.
  2. I fried some bass tonight, sure were tasty.
  3. I think the CR-V could handle it just fine. Looks well within a 1500 lb tow rating. Not a bad looking boat either.
  4. Trolling Motor, fuel, 2 batteries, fishing gear adds 200-300 lbs? Do you carry fish home in the livewell? 20 gallon livewell adds 160 lbs. In the mid 80's I had a 1980 Ford F100 with 302 V8/ C4 transmission and I added a transmission cooler. I towed a 23' camper in tandem with a 17' Glasstron bass boat with 115 Merc. The truck did pull the weight and the camper had electric brakes so no problem stopping. The truck did have it's tongue hanging out on long steep hills. However at 80K miles on the odometer I need an engine, transmission, had replaced both front brake calipers and drive shaft ujoints. I'm probably within 10 years till the end of my fishing career and have done more dumb stuff than I can remember or care to admit in the 46 years of boat ownership. I would not tow any boat larger than a 14' aluminum with a 20 horse motor with a small 4 cylinder SUV.
  5. 2016 tracker Pro 160 with a 20 horse motor package weight is 1415 pounds. Add fuel and fishing gear you are at or above the max towing for the CR-V. Any boat heavier than this and you will shorten the transmission's and brake systems' life. Personally I would hate to panic stop a CR-V with a 1500 lb rig behind it.
  6. Sorry, but you are not going to keep water out of your setup. I would cover the boat.
  7. The first bass boat I owned was a Ranger 175A. The first time I launched the boat I unhooked the tow strap as I had always done on small boat I previously owned. When I started down the ramp the Ranger slid off the trailer and landed on the concrete well short of the water. For over 35 years I have loaded and unloaded as the poster I have quoted.
  8. '09 Legend Alpha 199 225 Pro XS
  9. I recently bought a 2009 Legend with a 10' Talon on it. Mostly fish highland lakes and there is no way I would pay $2000 for one much less double that for two. It is handy for securing the boat when launching, although I have tied a boat off for 50 years. The best use for the Tallon is when one gets old they tend to loose wizz pressure along with balance and it's GREAT to hold on to so I don't stain my carpet yellow
  10. Don't take the bolt completely out. just pull it back where you can silicone around the bolt hole. If you take the bolt completely out and fill the bolt hole with silicone, you will push the silicone out of the hole when you put the bolt back in. If you want to remove the bolt, can you lower the jack plate and get to the upper bolts? Reverse for the bottom bolts, raise the jack plate. I would mark the position on the jack plate with a magic marker prior to moving it so I could get it back exactly where it was.
  11. Why would you want to remove the motor? Just remove one bolt at a time and resale with silicon. BTDT
  12. I have a 1988 box frame boat trailer with no problems, but it's only 28 years old with well over 1000 launches.
  13. I have to agree on the H2O Ethos rods. They fish much higher than their price as does the Pfluger President spinning reels.
  14. The problem with the Edge trolling motor and torque steer is the trolling motor shaft connects the motor at the nose of the motor. This leaves most of the motor behind the shaft= not very balanced. If you look at a Maxxum or Foretrex the shaft connects to the center of the motor. They have much less torque steer. Nothing you can do about it, other than don't run your Edge on high.
