  1. I quit using fluoro carbon. I now use P-line Fluroclear starting 6 lb to 15lb.
  2. Were I to try a spinning rod for frogs, I would look for a 7 1/2 foot MH rod and cut it down to 7’ or so to make it more of an extra heavy rod. I would think that a 4000 size reel would be a must to have a drag to handle 50 lb braid. That combo should be able to stick a frog hook.
  3. Evidently I think the Visions are worth the price. I have a few $100s of them.
  4. It’s hard to drag a 3/4-1 oz sinker in heavy milfoil. My solution is to use 2 3/8 oz tungsten sinkers to equal 3/4 oz. Will pull through the grass easier and you also get a louder click.
  5. Same. I just stick the line in a hole. Been doing that for years.
  6. Broke a 7’ MF Mojo yesterday. Fish was in the boat, flopped and snap couple feet down. Broke a 6’8” Mojo MXF back when the Trigon rods came out. St Croix replaced it with a Trigon which is OK at best. A Trigon will be the replacement so I doubt I will make a claim.
  7. I have a 3000 Nasci on a St Croix Premier split handle. On this rod the extra weight balances better than a lighter reel. I have a Daiwa Fuego 2500 and in my opinion the Fuego is as good as my Daiwa Tatula 2500 and Shimano Vanford 2500.
  8. I use P-line Fluroclear on all my setups. 6 and 8 spinning. 10/12/15 on bait casters. Not a fan of Flurocarbon. I buy 600 yard spools.
  9. I keep two rods rigged Carolina. I rarely use a swivel. 15lb P-line Fluroclear and a Carolina Keeper. 2 keepers above 1/2 oz weight. Two less knots and ability to change leader length. The Carolina rig has been my go too for over forty years and the Carolina Keeper catches just as many fish as rigged with a swivel. I will use a swivel during the fall on super clear water when I drop to a 10 lb leader.
  10. Probably been 40 years since I have had an anchor in a boat.
  11. It is. Baby bass color.
  12. I have 2 St Croix Premier spinning rods. M fast, ml fast. Excellent blanks. Actually I find little difference in sensitivity between them and an Avid. I’m guessing you are asking about a bait casting rod. Would be a great sqarebill rod. I would suggest spending a few $$ more and get a Victory 7’2” MHM Power Target Cranker. Will be better balanced, lighter and longer warranty if that matters. I do know the Victory is a great Squarebill rod.

90% of the time I’m throwing a Megabass Vision 110. IMO the small snap I use helps the lure to suspend.

I use a clip on all treble hook lures. Straight tie on all single hook lures.
  15. I still have two. Only throw them on 1/2” diameter steel cable😃
  16. No, especially in jerkbait. I have many more Megabass Vision 110s and Jrs and a couple Jackals and Lucky Craft Pointers than other brands. I also fish spybaits with Duo Realis and Lucky Craft. Crankbaits are RockCrawlers and couple Duo Realis on the high end Rapala, Strike King, H2O on lower end. I have some regular chatter baits, I will not pay $$$ for a high dollar bladed jig. Won’t pay top dollar for spinnerbaits. Moral of my story is: Yes for some techniques, no for others.
  17. Any Lowrance older than HDS Carbon connected to HDS Live with Ethernet will place the HDS Live in Legacy mode which reduces some capabilities of the Live unit. I believe newer Elite units will connect via Ethernet to Live with no problems. A older unit can connect to newer unit via NMEA 2000 and can share waypoints only.
  18. I have a couple $500 rods. IMO no better than a $250 rod which is slightly ahead of a $100-150 rod. $250 reel and $250 rod is now tops for me
  19. My newest bait cast reels are Daiwa Tatula. Have bc reels Garcia Revos, BPS Carbonlites, Lew’s from $100-$250. While the Daiwa Tatula are very nice they are no better than my Revo ALXs (discontinued) and Lew,s Tourney Pro. Only own Shimano spinning reels. Vanford at top end Sahara at bottom end. Vanford is no better than Daiwa Tatula and even Fuego
  20. My solution to my Optimax Pro XS compressor failure.
  21. I have tried every conceivable way to carry my plastics. Original packaging placed in gallon ziplocks, original packaging in plastic shoe box style. I keep going back to Plano type 3700 boxes. With 3700 boxes I can see all colors at once and if I need to replenish. I actually have some 30+ year old worms in Plano box that are in great shape.
  22. Same here. I figure if the fish were to not hear a sonar signal they would think something is wrong.
  23. Many years ago I Fished at night during the summer. I only threw one lure. A Texas rigged BLACK worm. One piece of gear that IMO that is indispensable is a 12V black light. Black light and fluorescent line allows one to see their line. Looks like a laser beam. My buddy and I fished a lake that had many docks. Roughly fifty feet or so in front of the dock there is a brush pile. Work that black worm through that brush pile and hang on. I later added a 12V white light called a Moon Glow that gently lighted the bank and docks. I’ll never forget one moonless night before Moon Glow light we were casting down the bank. We couldn’t see the bank and my buddy said that we were fishing great cover. We turned on a flashlight and we were maybe twenty feet or so from the bank and throwing our worms in back yards🤪.
