Quantum Cadillac Reels???
you may already know this but someone who reads it may not. the gear ratio is the number of times that the spool turns per handle turn. So if you have a gear ratio of 6.2:1 then for every 1 turn of the handle the spool goes completely around 6.2 times. Obviously the greater the ratio the faster the reel is able to retrieve.

Anyone else...
I'm always trying new stuff and I'm starting to think I've got the wrong strategy...Do most of you focus on a few baits and get really good with those? Right now I rely mostly on soft plastics, jig & pig and rattle traps. But I throw EVERYTHING else. Spinnerbaits, cranks, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, etc. This year I'm wanting to get good with spinnerbaits and crankbaits because right now i suck with them.

Johnny Morris Signature Series Baitcast Reel
Dodgeguy, I couldn't disagree more. I started this thread because I was about to buy one of those reels thinking that they were the new version of the johnny morris signature series. Now some people may be able to tell the difference right away but i'm just getting into baitcasting and I had absolutely no idea. It IS deceptive - maybe not for you but to those of us who haven't been in this game as long. Here I was thinking that I had found the deal of the century - good thing I didn't buy it right away because I sure would have been upset after the fact.

Johnny Morris Signature Series Baitcast Reel
Wow!!! I am glad I asked about this before I just went and bought one. That is a shame that BPS would do this. It sure seems to me to be an intentional attempt to trick people into buying these reels under the guise that they are getting "the" johnny morris signature baitcaster. Thanks for the heads up guys. I guess the old saying is true...if something seems too good to be true - it probably is.

g loomis question follow up
i just read the post about whether the imx is worth the money over the gl3... my best rod is a st. croix avid. how good is this rod compared to the imx and glx? are they even in the same league? i'm just learning about high end fishing gear so this may sound like a dumb question but i'm just wondering.

Bronze eye
I was talked into buying this frog by one of the guys at bass pro shops and he told me then to take a pair of pliers and bend the hooks slightly more away from the body of the frog for better hooksets. Try it - it works.

Drifting away from Senkos
i've definitely done the same thing! jig & pig is now my first bait in the water most trips out. i seem to like to work on new things every so often and keep working them until i feel like i'm pretty good at them - senko is so easy you just throw it out there and reel in the fish!!!

reel handles on baitcaster
i'm fairly new to baitcasters and my first couple were right hand retrieve. Then i got a new shimano left hand retrieve thinking that since i've been fishing spinning tackle my whole life i would like the left hand retrieve on my baitcaster. The problem is the handle turn is much tighter on the baitcaster than on my spinning reels. My question is - can you get longer handles for a baitcaster to make the reeling action closer to what i am used to?

got the wrong reel
no it came in a curado box with all the curado paperwork, shimano reel tool and oil. it's brand new.

got the wrong reel
that was my first thought too. i don't know what i'm going to do yet. I thought they would probably tell me not to worry about it and keep the reel but the more I think about it i would just be talking to some customer service rep who really doesn't care what happens or the fact that i'm now having to wait another 2-3 weeks to get the actual reel that i originally ordered (shipping this one back and receiving the new one). so like i said - i haven't made up my mind yet.

got the wrong reel
alright then one more question.....i've got 2 rods to choose from to put this new reel on. The majority of the time i'll be using this for jigs but will tie on spinnerbaits and crankbaits if i'm just not having any luck with the jig and pig...my question is which rod would should i put this on? Fenwick HMX 7' MH power fast or St. Croix Premier 7' M power fast

got the wrong reel
