  1. I'm wanting a g loomis spinning rod in glx for fishing plastics. which one should i get. i want either a 6'6" or 7'. Thanks!
  2. Geez...Let's start another food fight... Everyone has a "favorite" brand of rods, reels and lures. Most guys (which includes me) that fish G. Loomis IMX or GLX will tell you how much they like their equipment. Some of those same guys fish Kistler, Carrots and a number of other brands. I fish (5) St. Croix, (1)Lamiglas, (1) Fenwick Techna AV and two G. Loomis GLX. I think the G. Loomis are that much better. 8-) RW - do you think that they are that much better than you st. croix's? compare the imx's to the avids and the glx to the legend elite.
  3. the one thing that i truly suck at!! I just never catch fish on them. I own a ton and have read all the posts and articles on this site - i've thrown square billed ones into cover and bounced them off of it, but no matter what i try i just don't seem to have any confidence in them. i won't give up though.
  4. I've been fishing an absolutely fantastic farm pond for the past 2 years and the fish are finally starting to wise up to my tactics. I've been pulling in 2-7 pounders regularly on weightless senkos and 3/8 oz jigs with various trailers. Right around dusk they are also jumping on topwater plugs. The last couple of times out the bite has been a lot slower. I'm thinking that it is time to try some new baits. There is lots of open water and on one end there is some HEAVY cover. What are your suggestions for new baits for me to throw?
  5. I have that exact rod and have it paired up with a pflueger supreme 8035. i love it - it is super light. let us know what you think of it.
  6. I have to admit, that's pretty cool..... It is cool - and it's true - that's all that they require per the warranty card that comes with the rod. As for how the rod broke - my wife did it. I'll spare you all the details becuase it will make you all as mad as it did me - trust me. Thank goodness for good customer service. BTW I got a UPS notification on friday that my replacement had shipped. Didn't cost me a nickel and per the UPS tracking number I'll have it on Tuesday.
  7. my $.02: i've got 3 avids and absolutely love them. since you asked about the crucials and bps rods, i've owned both and would recommend the crucials. they are absolutely awesome rods and are one of the best deals out there.
  8. Let me tell you all a quick little story about e21's customer service: I broke my carrot stix. The warranty states that you can return it to the place of purchase for a new rod or send it back to e21 with $30 to cover return shipping and handling. I went back to where I got it and they didn't have the model that I needed so I couldn't exchange it but they packed in a rod tube and I headed to fedex to ship it back. Fedex was going to charge me $84 to ship it to Canada!!! I've now got $124 in returning this rod ($30 plus $84 s & h) so I said screw it. I called e21 and spoke to customer service and they completely understood. The lady I talked with said "just take a picture of the rod and send me some info like where and when you bought it and where you would like your new rod shipped to and i'll take care of it!!! I couldn't believe it! I thought I should share this with the crew here in case someone else breaks their carrot stix. Take care, Josh
  9. Wow!!! Now that's what I call a great review. I have to agree with you on your opinions of the legend tourneys and the avids but i'm not as happy with my HMX as you are. but to each his own. Thanks so much for taking the time to puts these thoughts down. I've been wondering about the techna av's - looks like i'll have to give them a try. BTW - I sent you a pm
  10. I have both in spinning versions my avid is 6'6" Medium power, fast action and my carrot stix is 6'7" medium power, fast action. the carrot stix is definitely lighter but i honestly prefer the avid. I can't quite put my finger on exactly why but i just do. I know this isn't very scientific but i hope it helps a little. If you are interested in the carrot stix i might be interested in selling it.
  11. I was at the Nashville, TN Bass Pro store tonight and they have 600 yard spools of yozuri hybrid on sale for $4.88. all colors and tests from 4 - 12. Not the ultrasoft but i picked up a spool to give it a try anyway.
  12. with all the love for the symetre you should know they are on sale at Reeds for $64.99. http://www.reedssports.com/Category/custom.taf?cpage=41
  13. I would have to disagree - I have a couple of avids and a carrot stix and i prefer the st. croix's. That's all it is though, my preference. The carrot stix is a great rod too.
  14. i bought one and absolutely love it. i have it spooked up with 30 lb power pro, put it on a legend tourney and use it as my promary jig and pig rod. i also have a couple revo stx's, a curado, a citica and others and it ranks right up there at the top with my revo's.
  15. WOW!!! What an awesome write up. Thanks so much for the info.
  16. I searched the forums and didn't get much at all about this reel. Does anyone have experience with it? With such a strong pro staff, why isn't this one talked about more? I just bought one through the flea market and I'm wondering how those of you who have tried them like them.
  17. i love the picture - you've got me wanting to go and take a similar pic of my stuff! very nice gear you've got there. congrats.
  18. funny you say that because i have a carrot stix and 2 avids and i think the avids are more sensitive...
  19. which would you choose? all around application - going on a legend elite 7' MF casting rod.
  20. i'll tell you the truth - i have that exact reel and it is a really good reel but i also have 2 stradic's that i lot ALOT better. hope this helps. Josh
  21. Is there that much of a difference in the 2?
  22. I currently have a legend tourney and am considering buying a cumara for texas rigged plastics - my question is... Which rod will be more sensitive? Should i spend the money to get the cumara or is the legend tourney more sensitive for bottom bouncing?
  23. This forum has given me the same affliction!!! I used to be pretty happy with my zebco combo but now if it ain't over $100 i don't fish with it! ;D Once you see and feel the difference in quality equipment you can never go back!! if my wife knew any of you guys she would ring your necks!!! ;D
  24. i have both and they are my 2 favorites. both are great and i don't know if i could pick one over the other. you will be extremely happy with either one.
