  1. oh, just find bigger fish! i should have thought of that!
  2. omg Mark, that rat looks literally unreal!
  3. given my VAST frogging experience (i started 2 weeks ago), i think it's important to distinguish between a truly missed hookset (ie frog actually getting into the bass's mouth and going underwater), vs a missed strike (bass slapping at it). having seen a ton of missed strikes already in only 2 weeks of frogging, i suspect this happens a ton -- with no intention on the bass's behalf of actually swallowing the frog that time. i agree with papajoe22 -- you're on the fish, now you just have to adjust something to get them to eat it. don't give up (don't ever give up), it's fun! here's a video i took of what i assume is one single bass, bumping up my pad crasher jr into the air four times in a matter of three consecutive casts. the second one is the best -- the thing goes like a foot into the air! BOINGGGG (youtube)
  4. i was checking out these kicker fish texas weedless wacky worms on sale at TW, and i figured hey, i have a bag of busted plastics -- let's sniff some super glue and see what we can come up with! wacky just got a whole lot wackier.
  5. Ned rig. Gasp, a snap!
  6. how often do you guys have bass completely swallow that large a portion of your small plastic? i've had small sections of limbs/tails of plastics be bitten off while reeling bass in (no idea of it went into their stomachs or not), but never anything as large as that ribbontail.
  7. thanks. i think i successfully un-sideways-ed the picture
  8. Early evening buzzbait. I enjoyed the fish but was a little bummed / surprised it bent the wire arm of my first time out Cavitron buzzbait.
  9. Learning to frog. Pretty fun. Not in love with how quickly Spro's take on water. Having luck with booyah pad crasher jr, kvd sexy frog, and scum frogs. Ordered a small live target to compare.
  10. three in a row ending with a 3 pounder on the ned rig. looks like they're definitely holding tight to beds now. pretty cool to see for the first time.
  11. admission: i fish with a snap so pegging a weight on an offset shank hook becomes a little more complex than it needs to be. i know, tie direct. but in lieu of that, i was wondering if you could just achieve the same effect -- a fixed weight to which the worm is attached -- by just fishing a worm on a jig head, minus the skirt.
  12. let's say you were inclined to fish a texas rigged plastic with a pegged weight. what are the pros/cons of just using a hook with a pegged weight, vs a naked jig head?
  13. this month i've had good success using as trailer: - chatterfrog legs - caffeine shad - pit boss - twin tail grub i haven't seen much correlation -- using a small paddletail or a pit boss which is bulkier -- i've caught some small fish on the pit boss and some reasonable ones with smaller trailers.
  14. Oh I see. These guys are less than a pound. Must be like my precocious high school friends who were 'bedding' way before me
  15. anyone have some seasonal explanation for why the same small residential pond that i caught 2 lbers with some regularity from in march, are now only producing super dinks < 1 lb? slow rolling 3/16, 1/4, or 3/8oz chatterbaits with small/med/larger trailers -- no difference over the past 2 weeks. it's weird. are the big ones taking a little nap before spawning or something?
  16. anyone in chicago/western suburbs know of any place local to get chatterbait blades? i know of lurepartsonline, barlow, and jannsnetcraft online. just wondering if there's somewhere local to save on shipping.
  17. Two pounder night fishing. Can't get myself to fish anything other than a chatterbait for more than a couple casts.
  18. Fyi spiderwire invisbraid on sale at academy. Anyone have good experiences with this? Was thinking about it in light test for pond fishing
