only took me 6 different types of frogs over the course of 3 months to catch one. but thanks for the help everyone

I wasnt even targeting anything. i was out there just to practice my frogging retrieves. at best i was hoping for a 1lbs lmb.. around 7.5 and 8. i say that because this fish was caught before by a friend back in june and we weighed her at 7.5 lbs. so i figure she must of gotten bigger since.

MD should have some monster snake heads right active right now. id start targeting them, well i have but im not in MD.

i went out at dusk and tried again and again i missed on a strike. i even saw it go under but still no hook up and my rod tip was up. still had a fun time whipping the frog with reckless abandon.

had another big time miss on the frog just now. but it was my fault because i saw a snake head looking at it ready to pounce and i got all stupid and decided to take my phone out and try to video tape it. as soon as i got the phone in my hand i heard that pop noise and she engulfed it but i wasnt ready and she let go. felt like the biggest loser on earth for a little bit untill i ditched the frog for a pit boss on a shakey head and got her. but i wont give up on the frog.

Thanks, what type of retrieve works the best for yall? walking the dog? or high sticking it? with long pauses?

ugh? dude they are ferocious fighters. people will hate on them but for me they have changed the ball game here.

thanks bills, where do you fish? and i know theres fish where i had those last two chances. i had a nice snake head destroy my plopper on Saturday morning.

The title says it all. Ive spent a nice chunk of money on frogs this year with out catching anything. the last two outings ive had either a bass or a snake head take swipes on them. by the time i reacted to it there was nothing there but me standing around wondering what i could of done better. ive heard to let it take the frog under before setting the hook but the last few times all they were was swipes and i guess didnt commit to it? and another question about retrievals on non popping frogs, do yall always walk the dog with frogs, a high sticking jerky retrieve or what?

used the glowing flukes once. had a flashlight in a bag full of them. used a snap to cycle them once they began to lose its glow. kinda fun to see them dart around. i was just thinking they could work better during the day time. they can get recharged when theyre out of the water and then when submerged in deeper water the glow might attract something.

just cos you dont see them using one im willing to bet most have and continue to throw them. even if theres no crayfish in that lake i bet they will pounce on them.

electroshocking is a very underutilized fishing tactic in my humble opinion.

ive probably gone through over 20 jigs since march. I only get the Luck E strike ones at walmart because its only 2 bucks and change. i dont think i would have the courage to fish those $5-6 jigs effectively.

sorry to bust in on this thread but do yall use swimbait trailers along with the trailer hooks?

got these and a some plastics for 30 bucks off of craigslist.

I did a search on it but couldnt find anything. whats the main difference other than saying ones hard and ones soft when it comes to selecting either or? where would a hard bait lure excel where a soft bait wouldnt and visa versa? im just asking this because i just scored a bunch of rapalas on craigslist and have never had luck on hard cranking baits. ive had moderate to low success with jerkbaits but i just wanted to know what makes you decide to throw a hard bait over plastics.

as a bank angler myself if i see a tree thats fallen by the banks i always target them with a jig.

im no expert on anything but the main point is that you will spook a ton of bass if you continue to casually walk up to the bank. ive caught a few after recognizing this and correcting myself.
