New angler wanting to start tournaments
Yep. Find either a BASS or FLW affiliated club and join as a non-boater. You will learn a ton from your boaters. Soak up as much as you can.

Sensitivity.

Mojo Bass VS Dobyns Fury Casting Rods
Why not grab 1 of each and see which you like better. I have both of them. I'd give the slight edge to the mojo.

Trd worm vs half a senko this video says it all
It seems like many of the popular techniques cycle back. Apparently spybaiting is some technique that was called something different 20 years ago.

Difference between Shakey Head and Ned Rig
This is a great question I'd love to hear someone's opinion on it.

Trd worm vs half a senko this video says it all
All I know is out on St Clair it works well with a drift a drag style which I assume would allow the TRD worm to float up. You would think it would work well in the St Lawrence river too. Disclaimer- KVD if you're reading this post turn back now it's past the no information date for the St Clair event

Trd worm vs half a senko this video says it all
For the record I never did say "Ned rig"

Trd worm vs half a senko this video says it all
This is the reason that you want to use the TRD worm versus 1/2 a senko or dinger. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10155128026998051&id=8504193050

New Spinning rod & reel
Pfluger for $50 reels. Shimano/Daiwa for $100+ reels. Good luck with your search.

New Spinning rod & reel
Go to the DSG and check out the St Croix Mojo in either ML or M and the Abu Garcia Veritas. See which one you prefer. Second buy the best Shimano reel that you can afford in the 2500 size. I internet ordered like 10 rods last year without touching them and I ended up returning about half of them. Best bet to put the rod in your hands first.

Dobyn's Champ vs Tatula Elites
For what you intend to use it for the regular Daiwa Tatula rods have plenty of sensitivity and you could get at least 2 of those rods if not 3 if you find a sale for the cost of one Dobyns XP. For $109 you could get either the 7'2" heavy fast or the 7'2" mh regular or both and you're still almost $140 less than the xp. http://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/daiwa-tatula-freshwater-baitcast-fishing-rods/

Need A Recommendation For A Shallow/Medium Crankbait Rod.
If that size works for you the price is decent.

Need A Recommendation For A Shallow/Medium Crankbait Rod.
Dobyns Fury 705cb save your money to buy the Champion or Extreme for bottom contact rods.

Personal best thanks to this site
You did an amazing job getting the fish out of the lily pads/weeds. However if it was tournament day that fish would have been gone

First Time with the Ned Rig
Probably worth giving the TRD worms a shot too over half a dinger. Reason is it will float up and give a more realistic bottom feeding action.

need some help
When I'm not sure the weights of something I get a few lures that have known weights 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, etc and weigh them on the kitchen scale.

need some help
I used that Tatula 711mhxf today to throw a chatterbait on a regular Daiwa Tatula reel and that combo is silky smooth. Mikey likes!!

need some help
Daiwa Tatula 7'1" medium heavy xfast action rod with a Daiwa Tatula CT 7.3 to 1 gear reel. Do some online shopping you should be able to put it together for about $250. Don't pay retail.

Tell Me About Your First Tournament!
My first tournament was on Lk Erie out of Marblehead Bay in May. The weather was real nice leading up to the tournament like mid 70's. Of course the night before the tournament a cold front pushed through and it ended being 30 something in the morning with a high of 50. When my boater headed out onto the big water with each wave he took it was like a bucket of water was thrown in my face. By 7am I was soaked down to my underwear. It was a miserable day I caught 1 drum. However, I did go home and buy a quality rain suit after that :/

Mental aspect of tournament fishing
For those of you who have been tournament fishing for a while how do you shake off a tough tournament season? Background info I'm in a club of about 30 members. The first 2 years back in the club after taking about 7 years off for a 2nd marriage and a new little one I was pretty competitive. In fact last year I qualified for our Club classic which the top 10 anglers by point standings qualify for, then ended winning it and catching the big bass of the day. I really expected big things heading into this tournament season and it was a complete flop. Tell me some of the things you did to bounce back the following season. FYI- I know it's early for the season to be over but I can't make the away tournament this weekend and I already ate a 0 in another tournament so yes my season is over.

Anyone spybaiting in shallow water.
Think light line (about 6 pound test) and slow retrieve. It's definitely not for everyone.

Deep Crankbaits - Lake Erie Summer Smallies
How deep are you talking? I've used the Strike King 5xd, 6 and 6xd on St Clair before but that was about 17-18 fow.

Riddle me this...
So if I were to cut the tail off from a Yamamoto Kut Tail does it turn the lure into a senko? I'm just not sure what to think about these kut tail worms but I really like the color.
