hook size chart
I've got a buddy who lives in far northern Wisconsin. He's getting everything ready for another fishing season and found a box full of different hooks...ewg worm and was trying to find a free hook size chart online but his computer is over 10 yrs old & keeps crashing (too cheap to buy a new one). So I went online & couldn't find one. Can anyone help him out & send me the info? Thanks.

spring fishing ontario water, need your advice..
We go on a trip to western Ontario every year...and opening day for bass fishing is always the 3rd Saturday of May...this year it's the 21st. And we're always told...depending on ice out...spawning usually starts 1s week of June. I hope this helps you.

New Rick Clunn crankbait
one of the posts said they thought they saw RC's being sold at another store other than BPS. BPS does has the exclusive on all of the RC cranks. But I believe once a RC lure has been sold for a couple of years at BPS...say like the copper perch color...those older colors I've seen being sold at other online stores...like northernbass.com & I think ***.com. The new colors can only be found at BPS.

hi vis braid
last question...if I want switch to yellow power pro for fishing a clear water lake during the day but don't use a leader...how much do all of you think it will affect my catch rate? I've used green power pro & it doesn't seem to make a difference. Do you think using a leader is mostly a confidence thing for anglers?

5:1 deep cranking reel?
Vinny, most of these guys are correct in what they're telling you that the 6.3:1 will do fine when deep crankin. But I tend to side with the info Goose52 is giving. I like to throw deep cranks (DD22's & LC Flat CB D20's) and was using a Shimano Curado 300DSV 6.2:1. It did the job but after a while your arms & wrists would really feel the pressure. So a couple of summers ago I decided to get a Shimano Curado 200DPV 5.0:1 and match it up with a St Croix LTBS70MHM (called the Big Cranker)...best decision I ever made. With this reel...you could feel how much more guts it had crankin the deep divers...they felt like they were gliding easily through the water...and once you caught a good size bass...no problem bringing it in. So in my case...I was looking more for a reel that had more guts pulling the crank through the water over a reel that was faster. I hope this helps.

hi vis braid
As I posted earlier...I fish a clear water lake. But if I wanted to fish during the day and try using the yellow power pro...couldn't I just color like 1-2 ft with a marker instead of using a leader?
-
hi vis braid
Question about power pro...I fish 90% during the summer from 7pm until around 4am...no jet skis/water skiers & very few boats. The last few years I've only used 15lb green pp. I've thought about trying the yellow because it would be much easier to see at night. All of you that do use yellow pp...if you fished a clear water lake strictly during the night...in your opinion is there any reason to still use a leader?

Shipping a reel, well two actually.
I just sent all of my reels in to Shimano for cleaning/checked over & also used bubble wrap. I got all of the reels back within 10 days of shipping. So this is the best time of year to get the reels done. I was surprised that 2 of my curado's need some bearings replaced. So it's good that you're doing maintenance now to avoid problems this summer.

Shimano vs. Abu Garcia
Thanks for all of the info guys...now it's time to go to BPS and/or Cabela's...take a look and make a decision.
-
Shimano vs. Abu Garcia
Yea I do put backing on. It seems like this reel was made to use specifically for braided lines. I'm asking others to see if they think the reel performs better than say a Stradic when you're using braid.
-
Shimano vs. Abu Garcia
I realize that asking guys to compare which brand name reels they prefer sounds alot like asking if you like Chevy over Ford...so here it goes. In the past I've always bought Shimano reels (Stradics & Curados) and think they're some of the best reels on the market. They perform great, hold up extremley well and the cost is what you'd expect to pay for a good reel. I've been looking to buy a new spinning reel to use only with a braided line and came across the Abu Garcia Soron STX & Soron SX that have spools made just for superlines. I'd like to hear from anyone who has bought either reel and how you thought it performed using braided line. Would you recommend either of these two reels or stick with whats worked for you through the years...in my case...Shimano?

Blue Fox vibrax spinners
I've tried contacting Rapala & Normark to see if I can find out all of the colors/sizes tfor Blue Fox...and so far nothing. I can't believe it's this hard to find out product information. I think it's great to offer catalogs you can download if you don't offer printed catalogs...but when your latest catalog to download is from 2009...that's pretty sad.

Blue Fox vibrax spinners
when we go on our Ontario Canada trip in May, the 2 Blue Fox's that catch a ton of smallies is either a #3 either silver or gold...don't know why but they never fail. Now if I use them on Lake Geneva (Wis)...they don't really work at all.

Blue Fox vibrax spinners
Blue Fox has come out with a new lure called the Vibrax Bullet Fly that I'm interested in buying. I started looking to see what colors and sizes there are & found some at and a few other colors at a online store that I think is in Germany. So then I went to the Blue Fox website to locate their customer service...nothing. They do offer a catalog you can download but it's from 2009. So does anyone know how to contact either Blue Fox Lure Co. and/or the company that might own Blue Fox or have any ideas? The only 2 sites I've found a good variety of Blue Fox is at BassPro.

Who's got the best graphic fishing tee shirts?
This is the kind of response I was hoping for...I forgot about Zazzle. If I went to Zazzle...what shirt did you start with?

flatfish lure
tholmes...thanks for the heads up on the Cabela's sale. I need one more piece of info before ordering. Now before & after my trip to Canada, I fish both Lake Geneva(clear water) and Delavan Lake(stained w/heavy weeds). What size (say from Cabela's) would you order if you're targeting smallies and/or largemouth? The sizes they stock are 1 1/2" to 5 1/2". Thanks guys.

Who's got the best graphic fishing tee shirts?
If you guys are like me...I'm always looking for tee shirts that are both comfortable, sharp looking, heavy weight & reasonable in price. But most importantly is that after you wash the shirt...the tee keeps it size. So a few I think should be on the list of where to look: 1)geddys.com:Up Schitt's Creek. 2)stcroixrods.com:willow tee shirt (STSSWIL). 3)bigdogs.com:a bunch that have great graphics & last. And recently I found new shirts at www.kohls.com. The fishing graphics are great, are available in big & tall and on sale for $15/$16...I got a few, washed em and only the Newport Blue name brand kept their size. Also a friend of mine has been looking for this tee for years but can't find it: all my friends are jerks with a picture of jerk baits. He bought it years ago at BassPro but can't find it. So let's hear where you've found you're favorite fishing tee's?

flatfish lure
I've been looking recently for older bass lures that are used in Ontario Canada. I came across the Worden's Helin Flatfish lure that I think was designed in the 30's or 40's. But it seems like it was made to catch trout, musky & pike back then & now used to catch walleyes. Anybody know much about this lure? And is it fished like you'd fish a spoon?

favorite wake bait?
A guess I need some info because I've tried LC wake baits in the past and had zero luck...not even a strike. So maybe if you could tell me how you use them, what conditions are best...type of water they'll work the best and what rod/reel.line set up you use. I'd really like to learn when is the best time to try them & how much success you've had with them.

Cabela's Guidewear X300 Parka vs. Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier Parka
.ghoti...how is the guidewear better. I've always had guidewear but it really bugs me that on last year & this years model...there is no insulated liner jacket. With the current guidewear parka...I'd be ready for any type of weather in the boat. I'd like to hear from you where the Pro Qualifier comes up short. Thanks.

Cabela's Guidewear X300 Parka vs. Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier Parka
I currently have Cabela's Guidewear Parka (w/insulated zip out liner) & Bibs and think it's the best raingear being sold. I have owned 2 sets (parka/bibs) over the past 14-15 years and have been extremely satisfied with both sets. In the past I'd never considered buying the Bass Pro raingear (100MPH Gore-Tex parka & bibs) because of the gaudy yellow patch they put on both the parka & bibs. When I looked at Cabela's Guidewear parka (X300) recently, I've found that the insulated zip out liner is no longer offered. So I've been looking on other sites and came across the Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier's Gore-Tex Parka & Bibs which looks pretty sharp. There are no gaudy patches sewn on and the Pro Qualifier's description is very similar to Cabela's Guidewear. Plus Bass Pro sells a separate insulated liner that zips into the Pro Qualifier and priced about the same as the Cabela's Guidewear. So Id like suggestions from others who are looking to buy new raingear and what they've found out...which one is better...Cabela's X300 or Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier?

Downscan and bass school
Todd...I agree with Marlboloman...I would look at that & wouldn't determine that those marks are fish. I've got a new Humminbird with si & di & I wish Humminbird would have seminars on how to properly read your units. I mean I've got this fantastic imaging...but if I'm not reading what it's showing me...might as well not have it...great image tho!
