  1. I have seen a yellow perch caught, gently released and caught again in less then a minute!
  2. Good idea. I'll guess spot, judging by his mouth.
  3. hula popper
  4. Yup, I agree that this forum pays off. With as many good anglers as this forum has, it pays to keep up.
  5. I'd add a silicon skirt and a trailer hook.
  6. This post makes me glad that fishing has no rules ( regulations excepted), just good and not so good fishermen.
  7. Because there are no Golden Dorado of Tarpon around here.
  8. Reading the water . Now, if I could just learn to cast :-/.
  9. So is IN. Not a single warm day in March, plenty of rain and the water is warming at a snails pace. Somebody make it stop!
  10. Good to hear that. I watched a show filmed on the Frying Pan River a while back that did not impress me much.
  11. I predict that they will eventually restock with trout and the streams will only be accessible through outfitters. There is big money in guided fly fishing. Sounds totally Colorado to me.
  12. Nice fish! Nice pics! I wade quite a bit, and smallies do that all the time. They seem to love legs for emergency cover. I have yet to figure out how to defend against it. :-/
  13. How about a minnow trap? You can buy them, but you can also easily make your own any size you want. Years ago I made one from abandon window screen, scrap plywood and wire. It looked ridiculous, but worked great.
  14. I believe carp are in the goldfish family or are very closely related.
  15. zarra puppy, senko (wacky or weightless T)
  16. I have one of those, but the cat is unimpressed and just looks at me like I'm stupid. It's funny because when I do practice in the yard (yes, often in the snow) he always shows up to "help".
  17. I have tried them on a creek I fish a lot with mild success. The Zarra Puppy in the bullfrog pattern can be killer there, however.
  18. Some outfit does or did make a sort of long, narrow eyedropper gizmo designed to inset into a fish's stomach and suck out the contents. It was geared for western trout fly anglers. I'm sure an average trout would really appreciate THAT! Gladly, I have never seen or heard of anyone actually using one.
  19. Around here, right after ice-out (like now), when the water is in the low 40's, the only thing I can get them to take is a small crappie jig. I just throw it under a float.
  20. A tiny Mountain Whitefish on a bamboo cane pole. I hauled him out of the Yellowstone River so fast, he never knew what hit him! 8-)
  21. Johnson weedless spoon. It's pretty though.
