Boat Trailer Steps
Didn't know they existed. Can you send me a link. I keep a kitchen type ladder in the back of the truck and another in the garage. Climbing on and off it does get old real fast.

Trolling motor wire extension
At a 30 amp draw which is more than expected with 8 awg, you will loose 0.173V approximately. Which is about 1% of a 12 V system, with 6AWg you'll loose 0.1066 Volts. The difference is negligible but if your willing to fight the wire go for it. It's a pain

Trailer Tires
the tires dry out and get very tiny fine line cracks. If you lucky they will just leak like a sieve, like my tractor tires from 1979. They get hot they will blow apart. A friend of mine sells tires for semi-trucks, if they are on sale they are probably old. Some say silicon treatment each year helps but I'm not sold on that one. I blew a haywagon one out last year at 10 mph and dumped the load. I had it full of fix a flat for years. oh trailer tires are bias ply or straight tread not radial due to the load requirements so they don't last as long but can handle much greater loads.

DOT recommends 6 to 10 years max. It's worth the price and hassle verses a roll back tow.

Trolling motor wire extension
I saw the post on 6 awg wire. I also had that idea, went out and bought 20 feet. Worst idea of my life. One couldn't run it through the existing system, two way to thick to bend, and 3 i.possible to crimp down to the needed size. There are wires out there that are fine stranded but are hard to find. Mostly high power car audio places have them. In any case 20 foot 6 awg $50.00 plus shipping. Oh turned out I had 8 awg already installed. look up the resistance then use voltagedrop = max current x( resitance/ foot x length). The max current is in the manual or the internet. Oh do the parentheses part first. Total volts at motor =battery voltage- voltage drop.ex @56 amps and 24volts and 14 feet. I will loose 0.5 volts through the wires. Same loss with a 12v system, just a bit more of a percentage

Oh, goto the hardware store and buy crimp on butt and ring connectors, get 5 more of each than you'll need. Spend the extra money and get a heavy duty crimper. Heavier tool than the little crimper (8 awg wire is big, thick, stranded, and hard to work with, a cheap automotive crimper won't work as the tool breaks before the crimp is made) that for small wire.Look on YouTube at a few videos there are thousands. Just DO NOT DIRECTLY CONNECT 8AWG TO THE BREAKER TERMINALS, YOU'LL GET A "hot" spot and the magic smoke might come out

Are these bass? Or at least fish.. learning curve help
I have no idea, been trying to learn for years. Then something hit me, 99% of what you see is BS junk. I used to be told to display and print out noise in electronic test systems because the sales weenies thought it looked cool. Also the guys designing it don't have a clue as to what it is other than a reflection, could be direct or indirect(a bounce of the top then back down again.) As far as I know there is no, 0, nada standards. Mine shows a fish and the depth in b&w. Hey it works to keep me off rocks and find stuff. Hydrilla messes it up though. Oh, for me it's fine....I'm very much color blind anyway

Trailer Tires
Yes it is completely true. There is a DOT number on the tire denoting when it was made. In this state it's 7 years I think. On my old trailer both flew off in pieces at 11 years in a garage. On semi trailers they can ground you on inspection if they are old.

You can get minn Kota 60 Amp breakers off the internet. They are nothing like a house breaker. Very easy to use and mount and very well labeled. I have a 80lb thrust@24v I had severve trouble in using fuses. They all were fast blow and you need a slow blow, which a circuit breaker is kinda. Definitely mount it somewhere were its safe and won't be kicked on bumped.

Trailer compatible Hotels/motels
8 Hours to Okeechobee.. huh that might be worth looking into, that would be 12 hours for me through Northern VA. I'm not on a timetable per se but I have been pulling over around 3-4 pm and looking up a hotel. I'm sure that will have to stop. In any case I have a better phone than before and can check google earth from the road. Thanks I might get out of the snow and ice this February. That would be funny, seeing a little bass boat towed in the snow in the middle of the night. I've been told Guntersville water temp is OK then but the air isn't and your covered in ice sickles.

Two days from warrenton VA to Wisconsin?? Man I'm not sure I could do that. it takes me 2 1/2 to get to guntersville, AL. One day to Bristol then Pigeon forge, then the back way through Chattanooga. There is a very long part of I 81 that is empty of everything, it's a rough drive after 6 previous hours.

Thanks for reminding me. Have to take it to the welder before I go. I can sort of weld, but not galvanized. I'll look into Hampton inns. My rig ain't worth bothering but I do plan on getting a motion alarm and chaining the batteries down somehow. They are heavy lead acid and my back doesn't like messing with them. Maybe someday I'll get two 200AH 30lb batteries if they keep advancing like they are.

Thanks, I've seen many Hampton inns along I 81 , I 70, I 10 and stayed in one once when i was working. I really liked them but got the impression they are incredibly expensive ( they gave me a suite). The local one here is $300.00/night. So I haven't even checked on them at all. I guess I should start to. Mostly I'm looking for under $100.00/night for my budget. But that might have to go out the window. Either that or find a campground.

Maryland's Who's who!
Hey I hope I'm wrong but I thought Triadelphia was like liberty and Loch Raven Resevours. Full of Zebra Mussels. You can put you boat in there but only there or other Zebra invested waters.

Cool, I've been through the western part. Tallahassee FL to Macon, Atlanta then Cherokee NC. The only thing I saw were Pecan Trees.

Trailer compatible Hotels/motels
I finally found a site that lists some. With Deep Creek there is a hotel an hour away. I looked up my sort of plan to AL and found many hotels that at least say they can take RV's and trailers. I would post it but I don't think that is allowed, to specific. In any case we are in a cloud of cicadas now ,so nobody is doing much fishing, fish food is falling into there lap 24/7.

Trailer compatible Hotels/motels
Yep that's a big problem. Even local numbers you look up are forwarded to them. It a major pain, so much so I scouted another lake and physically went in to check out each hotel. Oh well I think I'll cross it off. There is another one in PA that's the same drive time. I'm waiting on side guides to come now anyway. I'll still make to AL by Oct though. Thanks I'll need it. Oh some have the parking but won't allow trailers, mainly big ones next to the highway. Don't know why but it seems common along the I81 corridor. RV's are fine even with towing a car but everything else is not allowed. Insurance maybe????

Trailer compatible Hotels/motels
I've called most of the ones i could get to and were 2 star semi cheap. Yes something under $100 a night. Maybe that's it, the expensive ones have parking. My neighbor goes up there and rents a cabin, he takes his pontoon boat, he said he has to store it in a marina of sorts 12 miles away. no room at the cabin. So both him and his wife drive up there, It's kind of a strange place, parking seems to be at a premium. If the expensive places have parking I'll let it be, that lake doesn't have the rep to justify paying more. I think there are two resorts there but i never even looked at them. Oh, this is in the Appalachian mountains. All parking is at a premium

Trailer compatible Hotels/motels
Well been awhile but still batting zero on a hotel near deep creek MD that can take boat trailers in fact many say NO TRAILERS on there google preview. Most of the numbers are to call centers and didn't see anything conclusive on google earth so far. The only good lead was a hotel in Southern MD Junger gave me, there were six competition MLF boats in the parking lot I'll probably go to Raystown PA for about a week. They have at least two about 15 min away. I checked it out in late March, i really liked it, virtually no development , seven ramps, two gas pumps, and a small town nearby. I know there has to be at least one around Deep Creek as it has two day tournaments very often. Things got delayed, ended up fixing about 2 dozen things , my own screw ups, and an upgrade ( a 2005 MG 46lb thrust don't cut it in wind). It's finally just about ready for a 3 hour tour up there ( maybe I'll run into Mary Ann and Ginger).

Isn't that close to a Mark Twain story about a lead frog...

10 foot jon boat, worth it?
Yep i agree, that was the most unstable "boat" I've ever been on. On it, NEVER STAND UP EVER. It was a 10- 13 foot lowe, very narrow

Ranger RT178 review
Nice write up thanks. I bought a 2005 Crest liner new instead of the ranger. The Crest liner is great but all the accessories are pure trash including the trailer. The boat and 50 hp 2 stroke merc are great. Ranger and crest liner were the only two I could find with the storage space. I sill have two mostly empty compartments.

Boat trailer bearings
Dumb idea but might be fun. Pull off the hubs, change bearings then place level on a sheet of cardboard. Heat up 3-4 axle grease tubs until they flow in some boiling water. Lay the top bearing in place ,stick a pipe down the center and start filling it up around the pipe. I wouldn't recommend heating them up in the kitchen.? One thing is for sure, you'll always have enough grease.

Looking for a unique inline Spinner.
Sorry, found a whole bunch at bass pro. They had 45 rows of fishing lures, 10 alone of plastic worms. This was tucked away in a trout fishing corner.
