  1. If I use my AS68MXF for soft plastics, and my AC68MXF for jigs, light Texas and Carolin Rigs, and my AC66MF for jerkbaits, crankbaits, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, and topwater How would you fish my AC70MM?
  2. What St Croix Avid rod to you use for topwater. I'd like it for Hula Poppers, Jitterbugs, SPRO PRO Bronzeye Frogs and others.
  3. As stated in a separate posts, I have the St Croix Avid AC68MXF and the AC66MF. If I use the AC68MXF for jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and jerkbaits, what would be the best use of the AC66MF?
  4. So if the AS68MXF is a good technique specific softplastic and works well with Ikas, Senkos, and Lizards, small jigs, shakey heads, drop shotting, and other single hook bait, what do you fish with the AC68MXF?
  5. I just received a St Croix Avid AS68MXF from Reed's. What baits do you fish with yours?
  6. Since '68 my fishing life has involved fly fishing. We moved from California to Texas and I haven't found any fly clubs in my area. However, lakes Conroe, Livingston, Rayburn, and Toledo Bend are all within minutes or a couple of hours, and there are local tournament clubs in the area. So while I'm getting older fast, I am new to baitcasting and tournament bass fishing. This list has been great for helping me gain a lot of information in a short period of time. My thanks to all. These are the rods I have coming, hopefully tomorrow. The AS68MXF How will this rod work for the soft plastics The AC68MXF soft plastics and especially jigs. The AC66MF jerkbaits, buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. The AC70MM most treble hook lures. So this rod will be for crankbaits? Thanks.
  7. RoadWarrior the other rod is an AC68MFX for Crankbait spinner baiting and buzz baits. What do you think?
  8. After reading this thread and getting information from RoadWarrior and y'all, I ordered the four rods listed below. I just got off the phone with Reed's and checked UPS tracking. They were shipped out on November 23 (date ordered) and UPS tracking shows that they are on time and should be delivered tomorrow Nov. 29. I'm excited AS68MXF for soft plastics, jerkbaits , spinnerbaits, and all kinds of topwater, AC66MF This rod is Fast Action, but has a soft tip. I recommend the rod for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, topwater and jerkbaits. It is one of my favorites. AC70MM Medium Power/ Moderate Action. This is the perfect rod for most crankbaits (not big, deep divers however). This rod can also be used to fish other "treble hook" lures. AC70MM plastice, jigs and the deep diver crankbaits?
  9. Thanks for pointing out where Reed's number appears on the website.
  10. I like the KVD signature series baitcaster from Bass Pro Shops. I have the 6.2:1. I just checked and there are 48 reviews on the Bass Pro site. Most are very positive. It is $79.99
  11. What number did you call to see if Reed's was going to fill your order? Thanks.
  12. Another option is to take a strip of plywood wide enough to mount one of the in-boat rod holders to it. That way you can secure the rods fully rigged. Bunge this into your truck bed and you should be good to go.

  14. Take a look at this site http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=7807056&uid=622546. They have some good outboard stickers.
  15. Which three or four Avid rods would you recommend to cover most fishing condition the AS68MXF being one of them. Thanks,
  16. Way back in the early 60s, products from Japan were worse than the stuff coming from China. Within 20 years, Japan had taken over cameras and optics, TVs, recorders, and other home electronics, autos and more. I'm sure China's quality will come up. I'm just concerned about what is going to happen to the US job market. We're already losing our middle class. Individual buying is not going to have any impact, and I don't see the government taking correcting action.
  17. Thanks for the help. I found what I was looking for at http://pacermarine.com/catalogparts/duct.pdf . It is the black (UV) weather-resistant polyethylene "spiral wrap."
  18. On my 12 year old boat, the cables and wires from the console to the motor are wrapped with a type of plastic about one inch wide and 1/16" thick. It makes a nice looking wrap. Do you know what it is and where I can buy some?
  19. I can find UltraFlex M47 searching the web, but nothing comes up for A21M. Does A21M have any meaning that has to do with which replacement cable I need?
  20. I have a UltraFlex M47 13FT A21M steering cable on my boat. As I've posted before, I'd like to buy a shorter cable, but I only want the cable. Everything I've looked at so far are steering kits with the cable included.
  21. How do you shorten a steering cable? It is for a 50 HP Johnson outboard.
  22. If the light on one side does not work at all, your problem is mostlikely a bad ground. If the light works but not for all functions, you mostlikely have a bad wire or bulb. I have had so much trouble with older trailers that I now run a dedicatedd ground to both lights and have had no further problems.
  23. I have a Quicksilver 16900A15 throttle/shift control side mount which is for a mercury outboard. I put a 1976 Evinrude 85 hp on the boat, but the wiring harness and shift/throttle cables have different connectors and fittings. Can I make the mercury Quicksilver control work with the Evinrude engine? If so, suggestions please.
  24. What do you use 2" Senkos for? What length Senko do use most for LMB?
  25. The ones on the boat are rectangular. I may switch to these as they are less obtrusive.
