  1. Prednisone is a wonderful steroid. I have to take it when I get into the ivy. If I know I have been in/around it, I use a product called Tecnu (sp?). For those who do not know already, when you are taking a shower with the intent of washing off poison ivy oils, shower in the coldest water that you can tolerate. A hot shower might feel nice, but it also opens up your pores and allows the oils to get in. Cold water will keep them closed up.
  2. Kent, look at the 3:16 Hyper Herring. http://www.316lurecompany.com/baits/hh.html Has smallmouth written all over it.
  3. I would say that number might even be a little high. Ronnie and I brought the Bass Bus to Guntersville, towing Riskkid's boat and I think my total cost was around 600, including about 400 worth of gas. Last year, staying in the campground with Jimzee and Pitchinkid, my total cost was considerably less even after factoring in the food for the Chicken Dinner. I bet 450 would be enough for just about anyone to go on this trip, barring those flying in.
  4. Yes, yes it was... ;D How much is that thing?
  5. The hits didn't look particularly vicious. It was almost as if the bass didn't want to eat it but instead were just curious about what the heck it was. Oh those hits were LMB at there best. Pure stealth. The biggest fish in Cali stalk topwater baits and slurp them rather than crush them. This bait is gonna get bit in a bad way, but I agree with Hawk about it's durability. I will just have to get one and see 8-) That will look "cute" hanging out of the pocket on your furry hoodie.... ;D
  6. No I was not catching them at the same time sampling was done. I agree with you too on the mystery aspect... the more I learn the more confused I get if that makes sense. That is what draws me to fishing though...because it is a huge puzzle and if you fish large tournaments there is always a big bag brought in. Someone always figures it out and fish will always eat something, somehow, somewhere. The hardships keep me interested in obtaining my goal of being consistent. Hopefully I find that same passion for research since that seems to be at the end of the road I am heading on. I am glad Gifford Pinchot State Park and I could assist you in your hardship and confusion last weekend!! ;D
  7. Well, Dan, he did say MUCH shorter.... ;D Maybe you could take up ice fishing?
  8. Frogtog isn't the type to throw you out there sarcastically. I believe he was actually congratulating you. Now, if Muddy had posted it......
  9. Sometimes, Yes When found in the same lake Millfoil starts growing in early spring and bass will move into it to find something to eat. As the spring turns to summer you will notice that the Hydrilla is growing a lot faster and taller than the millfoil and in some cases it will choke the millfoil out. As it heats up the water looses its ability to hold oxygen the Hydrilla, and what millfoil is left will be producing oxygen so the bass will move into it to stay alive. Whatever plant is producing the best oxygen and holding the most food will be holding the most bass. I won a late summer tournament with Senko77 a few years ago and the pattern was simple. I spent three days dragging a 1oz jig and pulling up Millfoil. Most of the Millfoil in the lake was dead but when I found a patch that was green the bass were stacked in there. I didn't need to catch a fish in practice to know where the fish would be during the tournament. I found four spots like this in my area of the lake and we ended up with a 25.8lb sack with a 9.98 kicker. 2nd place was 12+lbs. 9.98 ;D
  10. I'm not too sure either way... Do I think he is the next superstar? Of course not. But I do feel that if Bas Rutten has seen enough potential in him to be his coach, then he has as good a chance as anyone in the house. I know one thing, the person who beats him down will likely be a wrestler. He really looks well below average on his back. Both those guys that fought last night looked like slugs. Props to the dude who got beat b/c that was a nasty cut on his head. Still, neither impressed me with their dominance (or lack thereof).
  11. Thinner walls = more fragile. Pretty sure a L&T would handle getting "Iked" better than a Steez (or GLX, high end Croix, etc).
  12. If you have a Gander Mountain around you, look for the Citica 201D (last year). I was at my local store yesterday and saw two 201D's for $50 each.
  13. Since you have the floater.... -If you have the cojones and the equipment, throw it on a C-rig. -Find a weed bed and burn it over the top -Deadstick the bait over structure and around cover. Very versatile bait. Good choice.
  14. Personally, I dont put an extra hook on the baby bass as the bait is small enough for any fish in the lake to consume whole. Start chucking that thing and you'll see. If you were pitching the bait to a bed, I might rig up a stinger hook, but I use other baits in that situation.
  15. That is what I was going to suggest too. Bassmaster mag had a pretty detailed design in one of their issues a while back. You may as well get some use out of it...
  16. Better off dead "I'll believe ya when me sh!t turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet."
  17. Please rephrase.....PLEASE! Much respect for what you do though. I work for the welfare department in PA.
  18. I brought a watermelon... RIP I liked Roadhouse.
  19. I have hunted hogs on Ft. Stewart and been to the Pass and Permit building. If the pictures on the wall are any indication of what is swimming in those ponds, then an hour's drive should be well worth it on the right day. The Ft. Stewart site has info on all the ponds. There were quite a few areas that were closed when we were there and the areas that were open had been that way for months, leaving almost no huntable game in those zones. It all depends on where the Army is practicing at that given time. We were told that if you can hit it when the area is just opened up, it is like heaven. I am sure this translates into fishing as well...
  20. uh you might want to re-word this part! lol Glad all is well. How did the Chantix trial ever turn out? FFi - AKA Matt Crum HA!!! ;D
  21. Well, you will be down here on Sunday. Just a suggestion if the fishing sucks....
  22. Just got off the phone with the local indoor range in Chambersburg. They are open from 1-6 on Sunday. They have 9's and 40's there for you to try out if you like.
  23. Robby, I believe there is a range down here in Chambersburg that rents guns as well. BadKarma42 posted on here earlier, he would know better than I would.
  24. Yep, not sure when Dan... I know they put them "On Demand" too.
