I'm pleased to announce the 5th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip will be held at Pickwick lake, May 2-7, 2010!!

The lake should be at the peak of spring fishing at this time, and is expected to be fantastic! The fishery is very diverse, offering largemouth and smallmouth bass, Walleye, Sauger, Crappie, Bream and Catfish.

Product demonstrations, guest speakers, and product giveaways are planned for this event. Meet the mods and I as well as everyone on the boards in-person. And of course, everyone will be up to their fun antics!

RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY YOU! Call 1-800-250-8615 to make reservations. You MUST mention group number 4541, or say you are with the Bass Resource group in order to get the group discount. You do not have to book it for the entire week, you can go longer or shorter. Just understand we cannot guarantee availability if you want to stay outside the event dates.

Here's the information:

Pickwick Landing State Park is the headquarters for the event. We have reserved all 10 cabins and 20 rooms in the lodge for arrival of May 2, 2010 and checking out on May 7, 2010.

The lodge rooms are your standard motel-type rooms, with no fridge or microwave. However, fridges can be rented for an additional ten dollars a day. All rooms overlook the lake and have balconies. Each room has 2 beds. All rooms are non-smoking but the balconies are smoking permissible. High speed internet is available throughout the building. Ample boat parking with electric hook-ups is available at the lodge – on a paved surface. There's at least twenty-eight outlets available.

The cabins have 2 bedrooms with two beds in each, and have kitchens with all the amenities. Boat parking and hook-ups are available at each cabin. No internet is available.

Forty-eight camping and RV parking sites are available. All have electric and water.

With tax included, rooms are $85.88/day on weekdays and $93.89/day on weekends (Fri, Sat.), the cabin rates are 137.40/day on weekends and 119.08/day on weekdays, tax included (cheaper if you share rooms). Camping rates are $10 for tents and $20 for RVs.

Also note there is a BassResource.com registration fee of $50. The form must be submitted to Mike by April 1st. Instructions are included on the form.

Is there some sort of all in one license you can get or are we going to have to carry one for each state?

I just checked into state license prices

Mississippi - They only have year long or 3 dayers.

                 year long - $50

                 3 day - $15 plus fees. You'll have to buy 2 of them

                              = $34.30

Alabama - 7 day $26

For a grand total of $85.50

I covers some of the items in your goody bag (which is worth more than $50), and covers your dinner for the Weds. night banquet.

I found the agreement. I followed some links from the Pickwick site and wound up on the Tenn DNR site.

There is an agreement between the 3 states but....

It starts by saying the agreement covers anyone with a valid sport fishing license from any of the 3 states.

The next sentence then states Resident anglers of the 3 states may fish, w/o purchasing a non-res. license, anywhere within the boundaries covered by the agreement.

I guess we need to find out if the agreement covers non-residents of those states.

From the Alabama Regulation Book:

"Reciprocal Agreement Pertaining to Tennessee River-Pickwick Lake. A reciprocal agreement is in effect between the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to recognize the sport fishing licenses of the two states within the impounded waters of the Tennessee River-Pickwick Lake lying within Hardin County, Tennessee, and Lauderdale County, Alabama, from Pickwick Dam (approximately TRM 207.8) upstream to where the common boundary line of Colbert County, Alabama, and Tishomengo County, Mississippi, meet the Lauderdale County, Alabama, boundary line at approximately TRM 224.8. It is agreed that:

Sport fisherman duly licensed or legally exempt from license requirements by the State of Tennessee may, without further license, fish with ordinary hook and line, pole, casting, spinning, and fly rods and reels, and use artificial lures and natural bait in the area of Pickwick Lake described above.

12 hour drive from SC Wisconsin...

I will plan on attending if I can find someone to room up with, as I don't have a boat I'd have to be a rider as well.

I've done only some preliminary searching on Pickwick. It has tremendous smallmouth potential which really interests me. The drive for me is only an extra 100 miles. Well worth it.

I may be able to make several days this year. My exams end the 5th.

No matter where we have the annual trip, there's going to be members who don't like the choice. We expect that. We cant possibly please 21,000 + members. Ultimately, when the decision is made to make the trip or not, those who can arrange their schedules for the event and want to be there, will be there.

The annual roadtrip isn't strictly about catching monster bass. It's more about friends getting together and having a great time, good food and meeting new people....with some fishing thrown in for good measure.

Although there weren't many 'big' bass caught by our group at  Kentucky Lake, I had a great time and I consider that roadtrip an overall success. And from reading the feedback from the attending members, they all had a great time as well. I expect most of those who were at Kentucky will show up at Pickwick too.

I missed the Gunthersville event because of personal issues but last year at KY was an outstanding event.  I fully intend on making it this year.

It's about fellowship, fun, learning a little, razzing, fishing and little of everything else.  It's sorta like deer camp.  

For those who haven't been and might be uncertain if you'll fit in....

don't worry, you will, we'll make sure of it.   ;D

From the investigating I've done so far Pickwick is considered the lake most likely to turn over a World record smallie.  Some of the photo galleries from the guides are showing some pretty impressive largemouths too, 9 - 10lbers.  I'm sold.  

Count me in - Although i wont be driving from NC this time -  Will have to drive from Winnemucca Nevada .... And I dont know if my little tonka boat will make it this time

Heck, it's only a 2 to 3 hour trip for me!  Yeah!  Oh, wait, I don't have a boat.  Maybe I can rent one, take the back of someone else's boat (will pay for gas etc.) or just use my float around the docks.  What the heck, I plan on being there even if it's just for the dinner and speakers.

Maybe by then, I'll have caught a 4+ pounder!

Unless you trailer your boat or motor some distance into Mississippi,

a Tennessee license is all you will need. Alabama doesn't come into

play on this part of the lake.
