SML BFL tourny
Fish the outer edges of the spawning areas from the back of the boat. You will likely be putting your bait in front of more fish than a boater who is sight fishing.

Anyone have feedback on these reels? Issues? Positives or negatives? Thanks fellas.

Shimano Crucial swimbait rod opinions
The 7'6" H will handle 1-2oz baits just fine. I just got home from using mine throwing a Mattlures hardgill. I can also easily throw a High Power Herring and it weighs around 1.25 oz. That H is a great all around rod to throw some smaller stuff but still allow you to throw larger should the need arise.

Get it from Tackle Warehouse. I have heard their shipping prices to Canada are reasonable and they have a great selection of products. Reel would depend on what you are throwing. Soft baits will benefit from a slower reel and hardbaits from a bit faster reel. Of course, this is just my style and may not exactly work for you. Again, in my experience, it is easier to have a faster reel and slow down than the other way around.

XH for a 5-6" bait? H perfect for that application and some larger? I like my Okumas and the Loomis BBR that Alpster built for me. Buy an Okuma and take what is left and buy a Mattlures Hardgill. Perfect.

Best Value in Polazied Sunglasses??
I think your last point is a good one that should not be overlooked. Retail is terrible. For anything.

Best Value in Polazied Sunglasses??
I would be curious to see if the optometrist you work for agrees... Don't skimp on glasses or sunscreen. You'll thank yourself later. UV protection in lenses is very rarely affected by price, quite a lot of lenses nowadays offer 100% UV protection at very low cost. lens quality is a different matter, I have a few pairs of nice sunglasses believe me I know the difference , I mean I get them at cost so why not. But your eyes can be just as protected by $10 glasses as $200. BTW I always have sun screen on My thoughts on glasses are derived from personal experience. I take into account many things: UV protection, clarity, weight, etc. I also take lens material into consideration, mostly how long will the glasses stand up to the abuse I put them through. In my experience the cheaper sunglasses, while they may offer the 100% UV protection, do not stand up to the test of time the way I wear them. If someone goes through a $50 pair of glasses every year (very possible), then it is less of a "value" than my Costas I have had for over three years. I paid ~$130 for them and have beat the crap out of them. Cheap glasses also tend to tire my eyes out due to the distortion in their glass/poly construction. "Best Value" is just as subjective with sunglasses as it is with rods, reels, and baits. Like most other topics, to each his own. You only get one set of eyes. I dont want to chance it with what I have, so I will drop the coin for a pair of the best glasses I can afford.

Anyone want to fish the Susquehanna tomorrow?
Thinking of hitting up the warm water area below Brunner's. I will be wading the area, no boat on the river for me. Hit me up here if interested. Nate? I know you want to fish...

Smaller shallow running swimbait
I have 2 Mattlures Baby-smallmouths that I'm going to try too. I just got them but I think they might run a little too deep for most of my lake. Fish them like a jig. :-X You don't always have to swim a swimbait.

Ok. You're taking it personally. I will present you a third option. The reference was actually toward Fourbizz's post. Please allow me to expound. Foubizz catches huge fish on "average" gear. Not the best, not the worst. Steezy catches "average" fish on amazing gear. (Nothing wrong with catching "average" fish, that's what I catch too.) My "equation" in the first post was a reference to that. I would PERSONALLY rather catch big fish on mundane, ordinary gear than own a boatload of 1000 dollar combos and catch dinks. Good day sir.

Not jealousy. Big fish on average gear > average fish on amazing gear. Every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Please explain how your average gear outfishes steezy's gear? It doesnt. No matter how many times a week you want it to. If Steezy would have implied his expensive gear catches more fish, how do you think that would go over? If every rod and reel were the same price, nobody here would be talking about Bass Pro reels. IM 6 rods would get igonored rather than celebrated. If my hobby was woodworking or fixing cars I would want the best tools. I fail to see why anyone spending their money, on something they want, is met with such hostility here. I agree with most of what you said, except for the highlighted part. It's not the equipment, it's who is holding it. I'm sure Steezy and I will discuss a bunch of topics on the Road Trip. This is sure to be one of them. We will have a whole week to talk about rods, reels, baits and life. Trust me, interpretations of posts on here are totally different in person. In person, you have the ability to see someone's reaction and know immediately that it was interpreted incorrectly. The Road Trip is open to everyone and is a wide-open discussion all week long. You are more than welcome to come join the festivities. As I said, the discussions that occur on the trips pale in comparison to a face to face talk. Wayne
