Annual Easter fishing trip
Sounds like a "Great Annual Trip" Notice how dark the backs of those fish are. Seems like they have been shallow and under cover for a while. R/ Chris

What Line For Crankbaits?
Hardly a marketing scam. It has totally different properties that gives the user other options. And yes you are correct in saying "you don't need Fluoro" But it is another "option" and tool to tune your performance.

What Line For Crankbaits?
You will find that the rule of thumb for cranking is Fluro, as mentioned above it allows for maximum depth of your bait and very abrasion resistant. R/ Chris

Size doesn't matter
You would think the bait would intimidate smaller fish but not always. However don't be fooled into thinking that a 12 inch worm will catch just as many as, let's say a 7". The pic is my partner taken last week in the Stick Marsh, That fish had no business being out in open water, He is going to be a mean one in years to come.

Should I give up?
This. If you can't catch a fish with everything you have thrown on 20 trips with out 1 fish I would move on. R/ Chris

4th Trip to FP-13 in 2016
My partner and I made another adventure and memories @ the Stick Marsh/Farm pond -13. This was our 4th trip of 2016. We traveled on Tuesday, Fished Wed, Thur, and returned to Jacksonville on Friday morning. These trips usually consist of 3 fishing days however the fish on this trip did not cooperate. All the correct variables were there, 1. Spring. 2. Pre spawn/Spawn. 3. Southerly breeze 10-15. 4. Low pressure. 5. Cloud cover/on and off light rain. 6. Full moon. Seemed like everything was lined up for a banner weekend. After our usual waffle House breakfast, we launched @ dawn and ran to our starting spot @ the South East end of FP-13. Which on this day was in the eel grass beds. Instantly hooked a smallish fish on top water(Pop-R) then 5 others on plastic stick baits(Bass Pro) I thought to myself (man, it's on) then just that fast the bite stopped. My partner and I proceeded to throw Stick Baits, Hollow frogs, swimming frogs, chug bugs, swimming worms, Texas rig, Carolina rig, Spinner baits and darn near anything else we owned till we finally conceded to the fact that they shut off or moved. We ran to other of our haunts on the lake with 0 results. By 1 PM we still only had our 6 fish and after arguing with my partner we decided to try a "summer fish location" which was a roadbed that dissected the lake from one end to the other and was two foot deeper. The wind was blowing pretty good in the center of the lake so we threw lipless crank baits and instantly started catching quality fish. We finished day one with 21 L.M. caught and released. We never found the really large girls we were hoping to find but were happy to be catching now and not still searching. Day two we ran back to the eel grass knowing we could catch some, then out to our deeper fish. Well we spent a couple hours chucking and winding with not one bite so out we went. After fishing from one end to the other and only catching 1 squealer and 1 about 5 +lb., we called it a trip and left the lake scratching our heads. I swear, the more I think I know about Black Bass habits the more they show me that I don't. R/ Chris

How to fish Shallow Grass Flats?
Here in Fl. lakes are almost all shallow water slop. I would encourage you to use the following baits based on what I have just read about your lake. 1. Weightless or 1/16 pegged lead, 5 " stick bait watermelon red flake, 16 lb test or heavier Fluro, 4/0 EWG Gammy Hook. 2. Swimming worm (CUT-R) rigged Texas, 1/8 pegged lead, 3/0 worm hook, Fluro. 3. Zoom Fluke, Texas rigged, 4/0 EWG, 1/16 pegged lead. Mono 4. Swimming Frog, Braid. 5. Hollow body Frog, Braid 6. 6" Z-Mann swim bait 5/0 weighted EWG hook. 7. Spinner Bait, Chartreuse and white, Willow Blades,(Bass Pro Shop Pro series. with trailer hook) 8. Swim Jig with matching color trailer.(Hack Attack) 9. Havoc pit boss, Black- Blue, Braid 1 1/4 tungsten weight , Pegged( For flipping and pitching the heavy slop) 10. Texas rig, 1/8 lead , ribbon tail, Red Shad color, 4/0 EWG Gammy Hook. These techniques should help your catch rate improve. Drifting across the lake will help you cover water and determine where the fish are holding. Light wind is always a + as the fish do not get that good of a look @ your moving baits. Remember to fish edges of the slop or where two different types of aquatic vegetation meet. R/ Chris
