cold water bassin
yep, find the warmest water available. On any body of water, the warmest part will the north/northwest part of that lake. That should draw in the baitfish and then you have the food chain deal going on..........good luck.

can you buy new netting?

can you buy new netting?
In between fishing trips I put my net in my tool building. It would appear a mouse decided that the netting would make great material for it's nest... > Needless to say I have a huge hole in the net. Can you buy just a net w/o having to buy a whole new unit?

Who would you want to fish with???
that's a tough one, there's about 3 or 4 anglers I would like to spend the day with on the water, but if I had only one choice it would have to be Kevin Vandam......

FISHING CORRECT WATER DEPTH
they will search for the thermocline when surface temps. get really hot. That is an area you might call their comfort zone. It is an area that holds the most oxygen and this depth varies on different bodies of water. You can find it these areas, but you need a depth finder.

You know you´re a bass fisherman when....
when you hook your wife in the cheek w/ a 3/0 worm hook and you can not get it out and you ask her could we stay a little bit longer before we head to the emergency room..... actually, part of that did happen. I just did not have the nerve to ask her to wait another hour or so.....

You know you´re a bass fisherman when....
when you are pulling your son behind you on a tube and you have a big ole swim bait throwed out trolling along..... ;D

Night fishermen...help
I was fishing a lake that sounds very similar to the place you are going to. This lake is some of the clearest water you have ever seen. As a matter of fact you will see a lot of scuba divers there. Day time fishing is tough to say the least. Last week I was fishing for smallies in the shallows and ended up getting into largemouth with a watermelon colored Senko. That's the only color I had, but it did not matter I'm sure. They clobbered that Senko. I had no luck with a jitterbug nor a black colored spinnerbait w/ large Colorado blades. They wanted the Senko and I fed it to them. Good luck and stay safe out there....... ;D

3/0 hook in her cheek....
thanks everyone who responded to my post with good wishes and some very funny stories and painful ones to. The doc numbed her cheek real well and he pushed it on through and then took a pair of side cutters and cut the point and barb off and then pulled it back through. You can not even tell it happened. Someone asked did she get a tetnus shot, she did. All is well, but I do sleep w/ one eye open now for some reason....... We are good to go and looking forward to our next fishing trip. Take care folks and thanks again and good fishing to all

a 3/0 hook in my wives cheek....
A couple days ago me and the lil' lady where out fishing. I just had pulled out a brand new 3/0 Gammy worm hook. Texas rigged a red shad Senko. I noticed I had a small birds nest starting on my baitcaster. When this happens I like to cast it way out in open water and then reel it back onto the spool real tight. Now mind you, I had it rigged Texas style. Would you believe when I came back to cast the lill lady had stepped up towards the front to get a bottle of water out of the cooler and I nailed her right in the cheek. 17lb. test line on a 7' flipping rod. Scared me to death. I tried to get it out, but this was her face we are talking about and plus it was way past the barb. On the way home I kept saying how sorry I was and she kept saying it was her fault. Ended up in the emergency room to get it removed properly. Guys and gals, just a reminder to take a peek behind you before casting and if you do move, remind the other person you are right behind them. Still amazes me the odds on that hook getting her when I had the tip of the hook just barely exposed. You just never know..... ???

They Just DONT UNDERSTAND! Who's with me?
Well, I'm lucky because my wife loves to fish with me. Been married to her for over 20 years. She has told me to hunt and fish all I want, just stay out of bars and strip joints is all she asks. Nothing wrong with that. Done with those places years ago.......

Are fish any smarter today than years ago?
dbcwolf, I have to respectfully disagree. I don't think fish are any smarter than they were years ago, but I do think we fisherman have educated a few of them through the years.

Night Fishing
3/4 oz black spinnerbait w/ one huge black Colorado blade. Works for me!!!

Live Bait, FIsh finders. Cheating or not
that's why I refer to mine as a depth finder. Even when the alarm goes off for a fish, I pay no attention to it all. No way does that unit give a fisherman a huge advantage.

Tracker Boats
I bought a Tracker 185 in 2003 and it's worked out great for me. A 50 HP Mercury, Motorguide trolling motor. Interstate batterier for cranking and trolling. On board charging system for your trolling motor battery. All I had to do was dump it in the water and fish. I think it's a great fishing boat.

What type of Bass Boat?
I really enjoy my Bass Tracker 185. Plenty of room and a 50 h. p. Mercury is enough for me. We bought it brand spanking new in 2003 and my wife, the kids and I just love it. I guess you could it say it...Get's ur dun"..... ;D

Bass Pro Fishing Classic
Chris is right. I went to the one in Concord, NC last year and I had a great time and saved a few bucks in the process. A ton of vendors are setup everywheres and a lot of them give some neat stuff away. I put in for a vacation day at work well in advance, we ran into trouble and the supervisor did not let me off and I missed this year.......

Favorite tactics from back of the boat?
gather up a bunch of rocks and throw them where my buddy is fishing...lol!!!! In all seriousness, I've been in that situation a many of times before I bought myself a boat. If your buddy is throwing soft plastics and trolling slow I would cover a lot of water around me with a spinnerbait or a crankbait. I've noticed it really depends on how the man up front on how fast he trolls to what bait I throw.
-
What is your #1 fish catching tactic
I agree Tom, for catching bass IMHO you can not beat the Rapal Floating minnow in the natural minnow color. This is how I got my son interested in bass fishing with me. It's a simple lure to use, but a versatile lure also. Swim it fast or slow. Twitch it, use it as a topwater. A very good lure for large or smallmouth. A Texas rigged worm or a twin-tail spider grub has worked well for me also.
