  1. A G Loomis GLX Frog Rod!!! I hope they finally get this frog rod right.
  2. Is "probably" a word? Two guys used it in this thread and I have never heard it used before. I assume it means "probably"
  3. I use my CBR855 mostly for lipless crankbaits (though, I have started to to throw a little more crankbaits with it now) and I have it matched with a SOL. It is a perfect match and you can really throw light lures with this thing.
  4. Or at least don't measure girths.
  5. I hear you...I heard that it wasn't very good before I went in to see it, so my expectations were low. That was probably why I thought it was so good.
  6. Has anyone seen this movie? I saw it the other day and thought it was great. Just wondered what others thought.
  7. I have never tried the Avid CB rod, so I can't comment there. I do have the G Loomis CBR855 GLX (which is similar in power and action to the CBR845) and it is a great CB rod. Though, I found this rod to comfortably max out at a DT10. Anything deeper gets a little taxing on the equipment (and user). I recently started using a G Loomis SWBR953 for anything 10+ crankbait and am very pleased with it for those deeper lures.
  8. 5 lbs is where I draw the line, green fish or brown! 8-) x2
  9. 12# line, now that's going heavy...I usually go 8# line and even down to 6# line.
  10. I was going to head down, but it is unclear to me if they are going to have a set-up like they did for the Bassmasters. I was hoping there would be a big outdoor show selling various items, but I keep seeing this "Family Fun Zone" with not much emphasis on items for sale.
  11. I would put it towards half of a G Loomis GLX SHR822S (I would buy more scratch off's to win the other half). In your case, I would monitor eBay to see if you could get a great deal on a G Loomis IMX rod (I got a brand new IMX MBR783 for $103 total once, so great deals are out there if you look hard enough)
  12. I would recommend the Revo Winch. Great real with a tough drag. Hmm...I didn't see G Loomis on yout list, so I wouldn't call the Carrot Stick the last (though it maybe the least...j/k)
  13. I agree with this 100%. It's not the strength, but the diameter. 10 lb. Braid has an equivalent diameter of 2 lb. mono. That is way too thin for me. I usually use 30lb or 50lb braid just to get a thicker diameter.
  14. hmmm....I like the way you think Raul. Thanks!
  15. That was part of my concern...thanks for the response.
  16. I have a G Loomis SWBR904C (rated for swimbaits up to 3 oz.), which I had a Quantum Tour Edition on (gear ratio 7.0:1), but I didn't like having a high IPT reel for swimbaits. I have a Curado 100D laying around that I thought I could use (since the curado 100D has 25 IPT) and was wondering if anyone used a Curado 100D for swimbaits? My obvious concerns are line capacity and the reels ability to handle heavier baits (not to mention a balancing issue with the light weight reel). Please share any experience you may have with this reel for heavier baits. Thanks in advance.
  17. How about any Steeler that has played, is currently playing, and will play.
  18. I maybe an idiot here, but what kind of bass are those?
  19. I don't know what the best frog rod is, but I have found a reel that is hard to beat for frog fishing. I use a Daiwa Viento for frog fishing and that twitching bar (which I found useless for everything else) really makes that hollow body frog dance when you rapidly press the twitching bar. I was amazed how well it worked for the frog and the Viento is a good reel all around. You might be able to find a good deal for one on eBay (though, it might be a little more than $100).
  20. She looks spawned out, so I would say she might go just over 4 pounds.
  21. I have used a drop shot from a boat, from shore, in 30 feet of water to 1 foot of water, to pitching it under docks, to using it in heavy submerged weeds. To make a long story short, the drop shot can be used anywhere. It is a great technique that really works.
  22. It is interesting that this guy used an honored, revered, and native fish, such as the Japanese Koi, to catch a World Record scum-of-the-earth, non-native species, such as the Largemouth Bass. Couldn't this guy be executed in Japan for that?
  23. Not to be a smart ___, but I like a Moderate-Fast action for shallow and mid-depth crankbaits.
  24. I would use the Cabelas XML for Carolina Rigs and, like you said, Frogs. I would save the Quantum for Swimbaits and Flipping.
  25. I own 10 of these rods and am very pleased with them. I used their "weight balance kit" to balance the rod right at the reel seat and they feel very weightless (it seems odd adding 2 ounces to the end or your rod to make it feel lighter, but it seems to work). I think you will be pleased and the XML rods have the most comfortable reel seats you'll ever hold (I wish all my G Loomis rods had these reel seat)
