NEW world record bass caught lake biawa, japan!!!
They are out trying to bring the record back to the US (which I would love to see them do). I always thought if the largemouth bass record was broken in another country, it would be in Mexico. I never would have dreamed it would be Japan (especially since I heard they wanted to erradicate all their waters of "non-native" species, such as the LM Bass)

Who needs rods, reels and lures?
A similar thing happened to me. I was in a canoe that was blown into some reeds. As soon as I reached the edge of the reeds, I felt a thud off my chest. Looking down on the canoe floor, there was a 13 inch bass flopping around. For the record, I did count that as a catch, because that was the only bass I was able to put in the boat the whole day.

Wish I was this accurate
I hooked a bat in the wing (getting him off was an experience) and I had a Seagull grab my weedless frog out of midair once (I didn't want to set the hook into his talons, so I let him fly with it until he felt the resistance of the line and then he let it go).

Drop Shotting for Walleye?
I am going fishing for walleye for the first time tomorrow with a few friends and I don't know the first thing about walleye fishing. After talking with my buddies, they describe their fishing technique as drifting worm harnesses on the bottom. That got me thinking about drop shotting. I drop shot all the time and feel very comfortable with this technique and was wondering how this would work for walleye. This leads me to my question, has anyone here successfully used drop shotting for walleye? Thanks for the replies in advance.

People, please
hmmm...Here in Pittsburgh we had a Super Bowl Champion and Stanley Cup Champion and I think the most destruction I heard about was some drunk guy throwing up in the street. I don't know what these people in LA were thinking.

Mr. Yo-Zuri Tries Braid
I recently just changed to braid on my drop shot rig (G Loomis DSR822S & Pflueger Supreme 6035), which used to have a just have flouro. All I can say is that that the increase in sensitivity is unreal. I wish I switched years ago.

Yellow jacket sting.
From what I read, they sting and bite. I guess they like to hurt you from both ends.

Last month to fish
I know it always sucks to move, but look at the positive on this one. You are only 3 hours from Lake Erie (I fished the New River and Lake Erie and the Lake Erie Smallmouth are just a different breed of monsters)

PENGUINS WIN!!!!!!
I am still in shock. First the Steelers, now the the Penguins. I just wish the Pirates would wake up.

How many of you carry spare spools with different line weight.
I do that for my spinning reels, but I don't have different line strengths on them, I have one with braid (if I wanted to drop shot) and one with flouro (for shakyhead and other finesse tactics).

Heavy Pressure Question
This is why I love this forum. I went to the heavily pressured point this morning and there were already three boats sitting right on it. I backed off to the side of the point and found a few small rock piles and drop offs. In 2 hours, I caught 8 fish with shakyheads and dropshots, while those three boats had a total of zero fish combined in the same time frame (actually one boat left after about 40 minutes of no fish). That's when the true sportsmanship of the guys on the other boats came out. After seeing me catch my 7th fish, they both started crowding in on me. I then trolled over to where they just were and caught one. I just loved the looks on their faces after catching that last fish in the spot they were squatting on for 2 hours. Thanks again guys for the advise and I can't wait to get back out there.

G Loomis GLX MBR844c???
RW, would you like to respond to this one?

Slang for "did really well" :-)
I tell people that "I knocked the S*@# out the socket" and they have no idea what I am even talking about. It's great to see their reaction.

for you shakey head fans...
I use the Damiki Finesse Miki worm for my shakyhead applications. The only problem with the Damiki is that the tail is actually concave and doesn't float at all (when I bought these, I thought it was a hollow bulb with air trapped and it would float). It was worked well for me even without the floating tail and I haven't just ripped a tail off yet from a fish hitting short.

Interesting Side Imaging find (UPDATE)
I assume this should be "wouldn't be surprised" meaning that he would expect them to find the body somewhere else while fishing. If this is not correct, then I have no idea what was being said.

I need a cool team name!
"Bait Monkey Junkies" "Skunk Tamers" "I Have Swamp ***" (I just think it would be funny for your tournament director to announce "First Place goes to 'I Have Swamp ***'")

Heavy Pressure Question
Here is something I have been wondering. There is a point on this one lake I like to fish, but there are probably 100 other fisherman that like to fish there as well. This point has all the aspects that would attract fish (hence why so many people fish there). My question is if this point gets a lot of pressure, would the fish no longer hold on this point over time or would they still hold there, but just be much harder to catch? I think it's easier to modify my technique to catch pressured fish then it would be to fish a location that no longer holds fish. Thanks for your help?

Had a visitor
It's hard to tell, but it could have been a northern water snake (though, I don't know the range of that snake). We have those everywhere up here. Several have got into the boat before and when you handle them, they put off a musky stench.

When does it count?
i'm probably gonna get a berkley digital lip grip sometime soon. Those are nice, but if they get wet, they stop working until you completely dry it out. I had it happen to me several times when fishing in the rain.

Scott Martin vs. Roland Martin
I don't begrudge anyone for trying to make some money. What I am questioning is the ethics behind how that money is earned. If I was famous on any level (which obviously, I'm not), I would only promote or represent products I believe in and use. I can't imagine Roland really believes in or uses the helicopter lure or the Rocket Fishing Pole. For example, I'm not a big fan of the Ugly Stick Rod and I don't really recommend it to people who ask my advice on it, but wouldn't you think I would be a hypocrite if all of a sudden you gave me let's say $20,000 to go around the country proclaiming how great the Ugly Stick is. That's the only point I am trying to make.

Scott Martin vs. Roland Martin
I really enjoy watching The Scott Martin Challenge and I like Scott Martin as a fisherman. Unfortunately, I can't really say the same about his father (Roland Martin). Why do you think Roland sold out by promoting everything on earth and his son seems down to earth and isn't pimping his "Martin" name out to everything?

Xpeditor Question
I unfortunately broke one of my G Loomis spinning rods, because I am an idiot. I like this rod a lot, but I have been eyeing up a GLX version (mine was an IMX). Would they let me upgrade through the Xpeditor program (with extra money added of course) or is it strictly a direct swap program (by paying the $50)? Thanks for your help.

Looking for a great jig rod
It will definitely be fine if you used a 1/2oz jig and some trailer. I would jump on that thing right away. You will not find a better rod in my opinion for dedicated jigs and weighted plastics.

Visability
The funny thing is that I like to use the so called clear line, because it is easier for me to see above the water (which is important for line watching type applications). I have trouble seeing the green line above water. So to answer your question why people even use clear line anymore, that would be my reason why.
