Accent finesse game changer and standard size game changer. White for clearer water and brighter days, black for muddier water and darker days. The only thing I do to modify it is to cut slits in the rivit to make it louder, it already comes with a double crimped rivit and a wire keeper for plastic trailers.

Standard trilene knot for mono/flouro, with two wraps around the eye on braid. Alberto for leader knots.

The hooks are plenty sharp, I hook almost every fish that bites. The problem occurs while fighting the fish, over half of the time the hooks rip out/come out.

Lately I've been having problems landing fish on shallow cranks, specifically a kvd 1.0 with the stock #6 hooks. I don't have a dedicated shallow crank rod, so I just have them on a 7' medium power fast action rod for now. I've been doing all of the standard things to compensate for that, using stretchy (8lb.) mono, and an extremely light drag. But they still usually throw the hook half way through the fight, my hooking percentage is near 100% but my landing percentage is only 40-50%. Is there anything else I can do other than get a moderate action shallow cranking rod? Would switching the hooks to a heavier gauge wire help?

Try replacing the tail with either the same replacement tails sold separately, or do what I did and replace it with a zman finesse wormz (or other worm). Works just as well and doesn't hardly ever break cause it's elaz-tech. And if it does, its no big deal with the worm only costing 30¢.

Yeah, that was a slab that choked on your 6xd. Usually get one or two nice crappie on deep cranks most trips, they don't seem to care about this size of the bait at all! And I can't seem to keep those pesky pumpkinseed's off of anything I throw, but they definitely showed a preference for your jerk. At least they're a pretty fish, but they can be a pain in the butt when fishing fragile soft plastics or skirted frogs.

Yeah, the sales were only 20% off for rods and reels and 30% off of plastics today. That doesn't get there prices much lower than tacklwarehouses everyday prices, gander was always one of the most expensive places.

Its been slow for me the past couple weeks, I've only been catching 10-15 bass in an average morning of fishing. Best thing I'm on is an early morning buzzbait/popper bite but it only lasts till about 7:30. I have been catching some bass offshore, mostly while stroking jigs or fishing 5xds. I miss a lot of bites on the jig, can't seem to hook more than 20% of the bites. Lots of catfish (including a couple flatheads) keep eating my cranks and jigs, unfortunately I have yet to hook a flathead that hasn't broken my line yet.

I think your going to have a hard time finding a rod that throws jerks/topwater and crankbaits well. I think two different (cheaper) rods would make more sense.

The vast majority of lures today are copies/knockoffs. All of the hundreds of different straight tail worms are just copies of the crème wiggle worm, all walking baits are just copies of the Zara spook, all jigs are just copies off of Bob carne's original, etc. 99% of what is in today's market is simply a spinoff with some differences.

Anyone scoring on the deals at gander? Going to check out the local store tomorrow, hoping for a cranking reel or one of the st. Croix mojo bass jig/worm rods I've been drooling over for the past few months.

Most of the trips are short 2-4 hours in the evening or whenever I have spare time. Only about 50 of those are anywhere near all day, but its still awesome being able to fish so much now that I live on a lake.

And not to make this more confusing and controversial than it already is, but I don't think they really know or care what your lure is! They just see something that kinda looks like something good to eat and if it is in the right place going the right speed at the right time, its going to get eaten.

My main fishing boat is a 1966 StarCraft (which is used about 240 days a year), just sayin... It hasn't had any big problems and is much more reliable than a newer 1993 stratos/Johnson boat that i also own.

Go with the fast or extra fast action rod (whichever power is rated for the weights you plan on throwing), and spool it up with 15-30 pound braid with a short 2 foot section of 15-20 pound mono leader. The mono leader is just to keep the braid from tangling with the treble hooks.

The stx used to come with better hooks, better paint jobs (although I don't think that matters much), and had a much better action similar to the vision 110. The stx used to dart almost exactly like the megabass, but now the darting is less consistent and less static. They also often need hook adjustments to make them suspend out of package, and they used to be pretty close to suspending (depending on the temperature) out of the package.

It used to be I'd tell you that the vision 110 had only a slight edge over the RCstx, but the stx has been gradually made worse over the past two or three years. Now I would recommend the vision 110 way over the stx. The vision 110, the staysee 90, and the lc pointer 78 are the only jerks I use now. The vision 110 accounts for the vast majority of fish caught.

They do the same thing to my home lake, except on an every other week basis. Can't speak for whether it affects the over all health of the bass, but it does sometimes start a fish kill (mostly bluegill and cats) but not always. It also sometimes messes the bass fishing up for 4-5 days, but not usually. The biggest negative in my experience is that it destroys the deep weed edges of that would normally hold bass, and because of the ever dying back and then regrowing weeds it makes fishing a grass pattern unstable and unpredictable.
