Identifying Crankbaits

Recommended Posts

I just bought many crankbaits from a yard sale. I would like to learn to use these but I need help in identfying them so I can figure out what they are. Brand, Color, Shallow, Deep.

These lures have no names on them but I have been told they are Rapala lures. Any help will be apprecited. I have 25 lures, but I will post a picture of the first 8 (if these can be identified the other 17 are from the same class).

Thanks for you help.

I'll try to help............I am not sure any of them are rapala's, but I do know the one on the bottom left is a Strike King series 3 in the green tomato color, and the second one down in the LH row is a Strike King Series 5, I am not sure what that color is though, kind of looks like gizzard shad. In the RH row, the bottom two are Bombers.

Right side, 2nd one from the top is a Bagley Killer B 1, medium diver 3-5 feet.  With the exception of the SK WW2 mentioned, the rest look like various Bombers medium divers.  Except for the top left, that ones looks to be a Mann's crank. Don't know the model.

I second the two posts above me. Even though they aren't the rapalas you thought you bought, I personally love bomber crank baits. They just have a fish-catching wobble.

Left side top to bottom:

Mann's 10 or 15+

Strike King Series 4 or 5

Rebel Fastrac

Strike King Series 3

Right side top to bottom

Bomber Fat "A"

Bagley Killer B1

Bomber Fat "A"

Bomber Model "A"

Not sure about the colors but I'm pretty sure about all the baits except the top on the left and the 3rd one down on the left. 100% that none of them are Rapala.

I've been lurking on this site for a few years.  I just had to register to say, wow. Bluebasser that is some serious identification skills. I might have to send you a pic of my tackle box one day to confirm some of my cranks and jerks!

Thank you all for your help. As you know I bought tackle from a yard sale. What I bought was 10 boxes combination of crankbaits, spinnerbaits, bass jigs, artificial bait (including many bags with the name Clatterbait on them) and other tackle (hooks, weights, etc. ) Since I am new to fishing with other things and not fishing with minnows, I have watched videos on youtube of Glenn and have enjoyed these videos.

Here is another picture of the next 8, I am sure it will be identified like the other 8 but I wanted to make sure. For those interested I would post the pictures of the lures I bought that are identified.

Keep in mind I paid $200 at a yard sale for all these.

ok, thank you to all the great people with their knowledge helping me identify what I actually bought, here is my last pic.

My next question, do I categorize them according to depth or brand or both?

After researching the norman lure, i found that some of them are from the N series and are 8-10ft  ( I think the lures are over 10 years old)

all these lures look the same to me, how do you identify them? is is body style?

are all the lips the same (small lips are 3-5ft, smaller are 0-2ft, etc.) for all crankbaits across the board? i

f one brand is small lip and it says for 0-2ft does that mean a lip of the same size on another brand will also be 0-2ft?

All the ones one the left are Norman's baits, so are the top two on the right. The 3rd from the bottom on the right is a Strike King, either series 4 or 5, bottom one on the right is a Bagley's.

Left side: Bomber Fat A, Strike King series 3, Norman's deep little N or DD14.

Right side: Bomber Fat A, Strike King series 3, Bomber Model A

Middle: Bomber Model A

f one brand is small lip and it says for 0-2ft does that mean a lip of the same size on another brand will also be 0-2ft? Usually the more bill the deeper a bait will dive but the angle and thickness of the bill will also play important roles in a baits diving depth.

Can someone help me identify a lure. I know it's a Strike King, but can't remember the name. It looks like a series 3, but it was probably made in the mid to late 80's. I thought it was a physco scout, but that's not it. I tried to attach a pic, but the file was too big..and it wouldn't let me upload it.

Does it have a metal lip? They made one called a Spence Scout.

Image result for strike king spence scout

No it was a plastic lip, it looks almost identical to the series 3, and could be the series 3, but it wasn't called that back then
