Sucker Fish
Hey, I would have posted this question in "Other Fish Species" but answers coming from California don't apply to the waters im fishing. What my question is, is when do the suckers start getting active? By this I mean when do they start biting? Specificly in the North Eastern area. I remember targeting them back a few years ago, I don't think it was April, but I could be wrong. Anyone know when suckers start hitting and becoming active in the North Eastern area? And no im not eating them, I just like them for the fight, they give good fights on a ultralite 8-).

Are you prepared ???

First Attempt in About a Month to Target a Nice Bass
Hmm rocks you say, will give it a shot, thanks. I went out a bit today to a lake that holds alot of picks, and bass, 50% of the lake was frozen, although I worked the open areas with a small Rat-L-Trap in chrome and after about 30mins of fishing I hooked up with a pick about 14inches. Nice fight, especially since all I been catching are panfish. He took it with a slow steady retrieve, I tryed yo-yoing it with no luck. Also I tryed fishing the shallow areas, and cover such as stickpiles and along side some bushes, but it doesn't seem like anythings relating to that. It just seems like there relating to deep water, and thats about it. As for the bass in this lake, I haven't seen them yet, its like they packed there bags and left for the winter (seriously I don't know where these guys go in the winter, makes me mad >.) Anyway, I continued to fish the open areas and walked around the lake for another hour and a half, with no results. It was good to get a pick though, and I plan to try again there real soon, this time slowing it down and fishing a suspending hard jerkbait.

The bait monkey lives!- Sexy Shad swimbaits!!!!
And I don't understand what the big deal about that sexy shad color is, yes it looks beautiful as all hell to me. But im not a fish. The ayu, and both gizzard shad colors look most natural imo. I think I'd choose them over the sexy shad color.

The bait monkey lives!- Sexy Shad swimbaits!!!!
I know this has probably been asked tons of times, but how do you rig these paddle tails? A hook with a weight molded into the bottom of it, like some use with a soft plastic frog?

08, new lure or tactic
Lipped Crankbaits, and maybe the shakey head rig (I have the tackle, just missing the confidence .)

Never hit the water
Hmm, the Berkley Powerbait Sinking Minnow (Not Gulp!). This has to be the worst softbait I have ever bought. The thing is built with solid metal inside of it (or w/e the solid material is), and its as stiff as a tree branch. Don't know what I was thinking when I bought this thing... guess the pretty looks hooked me good :-/.

Lets see your tackle collection
Man.. I always love seeing these pics, it makes me feel not as bad about the stuff I got. All I pretty much have is 1 plano for frogs, 1 for jerkbaits/crankbaits, 1 for topwaters, 1 for jigs, and a spinnerbait box. I also have a large tackle bag packed to a point where I can no longer close it, with softbaits. And I got a box of fishing stuff I don't use, I dig through it every now and again. But then again I didn't list my saltwater collection :-X. Its not as big as my freshwater though.. 8-).

Rapala Subwalk Works...GREAT!!!

What are some good inexpensive hard jerkbaits?
I'd love to give the rogue a shot, but everytime I find them in stores around here, the things are huge, so I don't bother with em. As for some inexpensive hard jerkbaits, IMO your best bet is rapalas.

Berkley Bungee Worm
Hey, just bought a pack of Berkley Powerbait Bungee Worms, never heard any talk about them, but they look like baits that'd get a hit. Anyway, I'm clueless on how you fish these things. Do you use them weightless, or with a bullet weight? Do you fish them like you would any other worm or what? They seem like a bait that would be actionless without any weight, so im guessing you need to fish em bullet weighted. Anyone here use them who wants to help me out on the subject?

Speaking of Gimmicks?!?
What they need to invent is buzzing rattles, not a rod.

What do you wear under your waders in the summer?
You can always just use hipboots if your looking for a "pants" like waders.

Some nice Brookies
Man you got me anxious for trout season. Those things are just delicious. Nice catch, you lucky sob.

chain pickerel (do you eat them?)
They tend to swallow alot of baits, and when this happens with a hard jerkbait, the fish is pretty much done. So instead of throwing him back to die anyway, eating them would be the best bet. I have never tryed one, but Im looking forward to see what people have to say. My friend tryed one and said it was pretty good, I don't know if I trust the waters where I catch my pickerel out of though.

I wear sweat pants .

How do you fish this lure??
They are pretty good. I use them in areas with small weed patches/pads here and there. I don't really like them in the thick muck, because the popper type design tends to pick up some weeds. If I'm fishing the thick muck I prefer the original scumfrog http://www.scumfrog.com/scumfrog.html. As for how to fish them popper scum frogs, its basiclly a pop pop pause, pop pause, pop pop pause etc. I'll pause them for a good 5-10secs, on the pause they tend to make a small turn, looks pretty seductive imo. I don't know what you mean by them taking on water really fast, mine never really did that too badly. Every hollow frog seems to take on water, its just how quickly it does this. If it does this within 60secs then I don't use the frog, or I consider it a bad frog. The scumfrogs for me, do take on a little water, but it usually takes them a good 5mins on the water, and then you just squeeze it out, it doesn't even make the frog sink or anything. But maybe you got a defective frog, who knows. I prefer the original scumfrog to tell you the truth, so give that a shot and see what you think. The scumfrog popper is good too though in those less weedy areas, it actually caught me my pb.

Funny Youtube Bass Vid
Just thought I'd share this with you guys, found it while searching on youtube. Pretty funny video ;D, it stops at 32 secs, so no reason to watch any longer then that, but check it out if you want a good laugh .

Your favorite high-end jig?
Are you talking about the strike king bitsy bugs, Shadcranker? If so, I wouldn't consider them high-end jigs lol, but they do catch fish. Anyway, my favorite jig is a Booyah Baby Boo in either 3/16 or 5/16 ounce, don't know if you'd consider it high-end, but it is the jig I have most confidence in.

Berkley Beast
Hey, I just got a few bags of these cause they were on sale for an extremely low price, so I just wanted to know how you guys are fishing them. I made a search on them, but all I found were people talking about "beasts regarding their fish" and a few saying they use it as a jig trailer. So how you guys fishing these, as a flipping bait like the sweet beaver? Or mainly as a jig trailer? Are they a productive bait? Just want to share this quote with you from one of the bassproshops.com reviews: "This bait is amazing.I've almost caught a couple fish but I think I rigged it wrong. Great bait." Wha??
