  1. Expand on what you me by wisely.
  2. There seems to be a lot of information available for the beginning bass fisherman and how to get started and technique specific instruction. There is also a lot of information on seasonal movements and position on any given body of water to identify thr high percentage areas. As a tournament Angler the obvious goal is to move to from catch more bass to catching more bigger bass. It is just trial and error on the water?
  3. I have a tournament with Indiana Kayak Anglers on Morse on Saturday.
  4. A couple tournament updates. April 28th I competed in the KBF Trail Event on Kentucky Lake. I finished 27th out of 79. I got on fish early and continued to catch them all day but just couldn’t find the size needed to make a run at the top. The bass were moving up into the shallows in and around the bushes transitioning into the spawn. I flipped the bushes all day catching those fish This last Saturday I competed in the Southern Indiana Yak Angler Klub event held in Warrick county. I finished 2nd out of 33. I chose to fish a location the bass boats can’t get to. It was a day of adjustments. Had my first catch on the board with a chatterbait within the first 2 minutes. Then I could feel the bass hitting the chatterbait and not fully commiting to the bite so ai slowed down using a fluke to fill out my limit. By this time the sun was up and not a cloud in the sky. I tried flipping the bushes and trees around the edges but never got a bite so I went back to where I was catching them early and switch to a finesse presentation and started upgrading. Caught my last upgrade 30 minutes before the last submission to solidify my second place.
  5. On the advice of Gerald Swindle I started using the small black zip ties instead of an oring to wacky rig. Very easy, cheap and hold up to anything.
  6. What you see on Navionics is only part of the picture. That’s why when I’m doing tournament prep I use Google Earth as well. Some of those pits get filled with grass and mat. Obviously this time of year they haven’t filled in but there is still grass. Others stay open, so different styles of fishing
  7. I will, I just need to decide which area I want to concentrate on.
  8. I fished the Indiana Kayak Anglers Event #1 on West Boggs finished 3rd out of 87 anglers by a quarter inch to first and the 4th tie breaker for second. Got a nice payday and some good AOY points. I caught 88 bass during the 8 hour tournament day which was by far the most I have ever caught. Fished Bluegrass FWA on Sunday in preparation for a tournament in two weeks. I’ll be back there this Sunday after fishing the KBF Trail event on Kentucky Lake on Saturday.
  9. The bass were on fire today. I caught 32 with 5 over of them 17.75 inches or bigger. With the biggest coming in just under 6 lbs.
  10. The bite has been very tough the last couple days. Hoping with the warm weather the next few days the fish get fired up.
  11. A Zoom Super Fluke. There is just something about that bait that works for me even others don’t get a bite.
  12. Yeah I’ll be fishing around 30 tournaments this year. I’ll be doing all the IKA and SIYAK tournaments, KBF AND KBS.
  13. Thanks man, definitely proud. Was fishing against the best in the world. Didn’t win the $100,000 but walked away from the weekend with $950. Good start to the year.
  14. What a week at Kayak Bass Fishing National Championships. Finished 65th out of 752 of the best Kayak Anglers in the country. Also while on Kentucky Lake Saturday I won the Kayak Bass Series Season opener. Pretty good pay day to start the year. Kentucky Lake showed how hard she can be. Between the weather, thunderstorms, snow, sun, winds out of the NW shifting Tournament morning to SE and the lake having dropped 13ft in 2 weeks it was a constant challenge. The first day almost 300 People didn’t catch anything. At the end of day 1 I was in 85th. Day 2 I was grinding all day and moved up 20 spots. Learned a lot. Used a lot of what I have been learning over the past 2 years and the hard work is paying off.
  15. Arrived at KY Lake yesterday to prefish for KBF National Championship. First prefishing spot only took about 30 minutes to find my first toad!
  16. I have noticed a difference in the early spring when the water is still cold that I get way more bites with a smaller body with the feathered tail vs the larger body with no feather. I have never tried the same body size with and without the feathered tail.
  17. That websites numbers are not correct. Here you can see here how fast it is dropping. And while I was out on the water it was noticeable how the water line in a wind protected area was well above the water level.
  18. Kentucky Lake was tough this weekend. The fish want to move up but they are dropping it 1ft a day cause it is still above summer pool.
  19. I’m so ready to lay into a few good ones. I’m doing everything I can to have a good performance against some of the best in the world. A friend of mine was down there last weekend, I’ll be there this weekend, I have a couple other guys fishing a boat tournament next weekend, and I be there fromthe 19th through the 22nd Prefishing and then tournament is 23 and 24th.
  20. I’ve been out a couple times and the fishing has been tough. Muddy water 46-51 degrees. This afternoon I am headed down to KY Lake for the weekend or I prefish for National Championship in 2 weeks. With all the rain the water is extremely high. They are in the process of dropping the water at the rate of 6 inches to 1 ft a day. Hopefully things stabilize a few days before the tournament.
  21. I just searched and found them for $12.26. Bigcountrysportinggoods has them on sale.
  22. Most of the responses I see here are referencing when the spawn happens not prespawn. The prespawn starts as soon as the water starts warming. The end point also isn’t a certain day. Because the bass don’t all move up at once you will have a transitional time of some bass still at prespawn, spawn, and then post spawn all at the same time. There are many factors that need to be considere to know when the spawn starts which would define when prespawn ends.
  23. This past year I fished 5-7 days a week. After work I would head out on the water and fish tournaments on the weekends.
  24. No, most everyone is selling for retail price. I went for the speakers KVD and G-Man as well as talking fishing with friends from around the state I only get to see at tournaments.
  25. Probably not I was there Friday and Saturday this weekend.
