  1. Sometimes lures are just better than live bait. You don't want to pitch a live crawdad back in the sticks, or skip a live frog under a dock.
  2. I met KVD last year at a tackle shop here in southern California. In his hands were five Team Daiwa Jerkbaits and I told him that I was telling Strike King on him. He said that he has to use what works and that I should have seen him the day before. He said that he bought about $500 worth of baits from other manufactures. He said that there is a time and place for strike kings baits and there is a time and place for others.
  3. Sorry guys, the Staysees already found a new home. I don't know what it is about that bait, I can be catching fish on a Deep Husky Jerk but I pick up the Staysee and nada. Gald they work for someone though.
  4. I don't like the Moonsalt or whatever they are called but I do like the Rick Clunn bait and the Flat CB's. I have to add that I strongly dislike the Staysee. If you guys ever run across me at the lake I'll give you mine. They are just wasting space.
  5. Dude, hold on to those Fat Raps! I would kill to have a collection of those. I have one of those Black Maxx reels. They last forever. You could upgrade to something newer but those reels will last longer. Don't let them go.
  6. ...is to see this. I think I like seeing this more than when I catch a fish myself. She caught it last Saturday on a flat CB 20. How about you guys? Are your better halfs into fishing?
  7. I don't think that a piece of structure needs to establish itself before fish will hold on it. I have no doubt that as soon as a bass finds the structure and they are holding at the depth of the structure, they will use it in one way or another.
  8. All I have been using lately is Cuda line.
  9. Fenwick makes a Fenglass rod that are fine if you want a soft glass crankin stick. My partner fishes a 7 M HMX with a 5-1 curado for all of his cranks and loves it.
  10. I had a couple and I didn't really like them. I gave them away. Doesn't come close to a Sammy.
  11. I had the original ABT version of the bait and I lost it on my first trip out. It was already dark when I got to the lake so I didn't get a good look at how it swims but I did manage to catch a 1.75lber, a 4lber, and a channel cat that I didn't bother wieghing before I hooked into something that broke my 15lb Big Game. Been meaning to pick up another.
  12. I remember buying one years ago that had about a 3.5" body that was orange with a brown and yellow scale pattern on the top and it had a willow leaf blade as opposed to the colorado. I can still remember the gray card with the Bass Buster logo on the lower corner.
  13. I have a BPS Crankin stick and it is a fine rod for the money. I don't use it anymore but I never had any problems with it.
  14. 7ft M Fenwick Techna AV (the old one with the Silicon Carbide guides) with a 1600 Morrum Ultra Mag.
  15. 4lb for split shots and 6lb for all other finesse worming.
  16. Yeah, on the wide gap, not the round bend. And it was not like I was using braid either. I was only throwing 12 and 15lb mono.
  17. War Eagles are the best Buzzbait I have used. They come with a Gamakatsu hook, the wire is ground under the blade to give it good noise, it casts well, stays on top, leaves a nice bubble trail, and best of all it catches tons of fish. That being said, I also like Persuaders and Reaction Inovations.
  18. I like the Mustad Triple Grip and Owners. The Gamakatsu straighten out on me a lot.
  19. That would be my best guess. When those first got hot you couldn't find the originals anywhere but they had the knock offs from the larger companies all over the place. It happens a lot. Like the King Kong bait that Strike King has out. It is actually the Titan from ABT.
  20. This is the Jig rod I use. I use it for everything from skipping docks with a 3/8oz arky to dredging 30+ feet with a 1oz football. Rogue MBH705C Retails for $186.00
  21. This is probably the most useful tip I have ever gotten off this board. Seriously. I never peg my weights because I hate that it is a one shot deal. This method is so versatile. Thank you.
  22. I have a few of those that my dad bought at Odd Lots about 15 years ago. Never used them. Guess I'll dig them up and give them a try. I would have to say that right now I miss the Storm Lightning Shad the most.
  23. I talked to the GYCB guy at the Bassathon this year and asked him about that. He said that the Kinami and the Yamamoto baits are the same except for the swirl colors, someone else makes those. But as far as the grubs, flashes, worms, and palm trees go, they are all made by GYCB out of the same plastics with the same salt content.
  24. Exactly. Rig it weightless and fish it like a buzzbait.
