Falcon Rods Has Excellent Customer Service!
Thanks for sharing with us. CS is an important consideration. I have a Quantum Cabo baitcasting rod that broke on me and they told me to take it to this local dealer and they would handle it. That was November and I still don't have a new rod!

Ever done this with a spinner bait?
Thanks Senile1, that's the answer I was looking for. I was tapping the bottom with it. Makes perfect sense now. Still curious to know if this has happened to anyone else on here.

MY FIRST LUNKER! Caught using a live blue gill!
Nice. Fish like that should be keeping your Tilapia problem in check... I would think.

Favorite Buzzbait
War Eagle. Sharp hook, very noisey, casts well, stays on top well at slow speads, big two bladed offest prop creates great vibration, only costs $4-5 depending on where you go, and bass eat them! Oh just so you know, never buy a Reaction Inovations Squeky Dolphin unless you like paying $9 for a bait that is a POC. It catches fish but the rivet wears out after an couple of hours of fishing. I had one bind up so the blade wouldn't turn and another that had the blade just fall off.

Ever done this with a spinner bait?
On Friday my girlfriend asked me what keeps a bass from keying in on the blades of a spinner bait instead of the body. I told her that while I don't know of a right answer, it seems that the blades are spinning and flashing which attracts the fish while the body had a constant profile and eyes that the fish keys in on. I told her that I have never seen a bass attack the blades instead of the body. Well yesterday afternoon I was slow rolling a spinner bait and caught a 2.5lber that was hooked about two inches down on the outside of his lower jaw. It was as if he ate the blades and got hooked from underneath. Now I have caught a lot of fish on spinner baits but I have never hooked a fish from below his jaw before. Have you guys and gals ever experienced this?

Live Bluegill?
I was using a live bulegill in a canal down in Florida one time and caught a huge soft-shelled turtle. I also caught a lot of Bowfin on them. Wish we had Bowfin here in California, IMO it is one hell of a fish.

Sports Authority
I used to work there as well. I hated it when people would come in with those coupons because it was better than the empolyee discount. Hey Bassmasta7, just return the cleats, get your money back, and then re-buy them with the coupon.

mayflies
All the time when I am trout fishing. There are no significant hatches in my local bass waters. I did just read an articale in BASS about fishing a small popper during the hatch.

mann's hardnosed mosquito hawk??
I have caught fish on the smaller version of the Mosquito Hawk when they first came out years ago. Never tried the full sized one. Let us know if you try it.

Daiwa new line of crankbaits
I have never tried the new line of baits but I have caught a lot of fish on this one and the red craw pattern is a killer on smallies on the Colorado River.
-
Color of your crawfish???????
That might be a good thing AT. With as much time as we all spend obsessing about color you probably save yourself a lot of headaches.
-
Go-To
That's funny that you put that. I used to slay em on the old 1/4oz blue fox big bass spinnerbaits. I can't find anymore quality single bladed willowleaf spinnerbaits other than the big ledgebusters.

Bass Harrasser deal, do not miss this one!!!!!!!
I like those baits but they smell bad.

GYCB Swimbait
Ok RW and Raul. The term swim bait was coined by the southern California inshore fisherman who use hand poured swim baits like fish traps, worm kings, big hammers, AA's etc... that not only have a waging tail like the sassy shad but the body of the bait pivots back and fourth along the baits lateral axis. Big bass hunters started using 6-10" versions of these baits to imitate trout and the swim bait name stuck with the trout baits that evolved from there. The GYCB swim bait takes after the hand poured style of baits. Put one on a 1/4 triangle/shad shaped jig head and you will see that it's action is unlike that of a Sassy shad. By the way AT, they work great for suspended bass. Just cast past the fish/bait and put your reel in gear and let it sink/swim back to you.

what do you throw under dock and what technique?
I second Fourbizzle on the Swimbaits. A six inch soft swim bait skips very well. Other than that I skip a jig with a sweet beaver trailer. Then I just fish the baits like I normally would.
-
Color of your crawfish???????
The crawfish I see in Southern California are green/brown until they get to be about 3.5" long and then they tend to be red as can be.

Fishing Flukes
A Fluke and a Super Fluke are extremely different baits. A fluke is much more subtle. The way I fish a Fluke or a 4" Fin-s-fish is on 6-8lb mono with a fast action 6'6" spinning rod. My most productive color is baby bass and I rig it weightless on a 1/0 or 2/0 EWG hook. I like to fish it around brush, docks, and other structure and use little twitches and very long pauses. I will also fish it on a jig head in deeper water and "pop" it along the bottom. Good luck!

fat ika secret getting out
What Avid said. This bait isn't a "secret" and hasn't been for years. They just weren't very popular at first because most fisherman are too thick skulled to try out baits on their own. They wait for someone else to tell them what is good.

Rapala Minnow Rap
They look good but I have only seen them in catalogs. They don't carry them around here. Guess I'll have to wait until the first Southern California BPS opens this fall.

#4 Gamakatsu round bend trebles
Are you using the 1/2oz Rattle-Trap? If so the #4 should only be bigger than the back hook but it shouldn't be a problem. The problem I see here is that you should have gotten the EWG hooks instead of the round bend. But the round bends are still a big improvement over the stock hooks but the EWG are even better than the round bend.

Jackall Luers?
The guy who started Jackall is the same guy who designed the Sammy, Bevy Shad, Staysee, and other Luckycraft lures. I for one have loved each Jackall bait I have used, which is actually only four

King Shad
The bait KVD was throwing is actually the original made by ABT. You can get it at ***.com

Rigging Yammy Kreatures
Those are great baits and I am sure you will have a lot of luck with them. I use a regular T-rig for most applicatioins. It is very wind resistent though so casting can be a problem. I also had luck using them on a carolina rig this winter. I always hook them forwards but who knows. I have just as much luck rigging the Ika either direction so the same may hold true for this bait. I just haven't tried it.

BooYah Counter Strike Spinnerbaits
I haven't used the BooYah bait but Excailber used to make a spinnerbait that did the same thing and though I do catch fish with it, it isn't any better than the other blades in my box. Let us know how you do with them.

i suck at pitchin' with my baitcaster....
Do what Woo Daves used to do and pitch with a spincaster You don't need a flippin switch, it just takes a lot of practice in the back yard. That's how I learned. But then again I'm no Gary Klien.
