  1. Who cares how hot it is other than the climate world ending in 6 years weirdos types. The world temps been changing since the dinosaurs were babies. Cycles it’s all cycles how many hurricanes so far this year come on people
  2. It effects the drive time to a lake from an hour to about 40 minutes or less which stinks because most lakes around here 400 acres or less and pounded into oblivion. Pension check only goes so far and Putin price hikes killing everything, back to ramen noodles I guess
  3. Yes working out is great did it most of my life heavy lifting in my younger years mostly cardio now. Worked as a carpenter for a few years great experience but I worked at a waste water treatment plant as a utility worker for 27 years been in every stinky place you can think of. Many years of confined entries into many spots unfit for humans in contorted body positions. We had a huge 7 hearth furnace that burned the poop before landfilling ash. Well when the poop was burned it formed what we called clinkers 3~4 hundred pounds that had to be removed. Well after wrestling those things for so long in an area you could only kneel in or lay down using a jackhammer and swinging a big hammer my body took a beating. Had a number of those fall on me! Had both rotator cuff’s repaired, right bicep tendon reattached, knee surgery, two wrist surgeries, back surgery and both Achilles tendon’s blow up and surgically repaired. Have a tear in my left bicep tendon and a bone spur it rubs on that needs surgery but putting it off. Actually retired early or was going to be let go because the last 10-12 years I was there I was on IR a quite a bit. Not whining just saying life throws curveball’s on occasion the aches and pains are quite overwhelming at times especially after working in the yard or carrying to much heavy stuff. Fishing suffers especially flipping and not coordinated enough to switch hands. Over hand casting can be tiresome especially in cold weather for the shoulders. Better than 6’ under the turf. Like I say it’s always fun till it’s not! Take care of your body as best you can but obviously there’s things that can’t be controlled. Pat
  4. It’s been awhile but thanks for the info. Winter won’t go away so been pouting. The ice just went out this week.. weather lousy till next week according to the weather guru.
  5. Forgive this post if redundant. I was curious if anyone changes out treble hooks for single hooks on jerk baits or top water baits? And if so what kind of single hooks do you use and or a rule of thumb you use for the size of the bait to the size of the hook? I really dislike dealing with treble hooks stuck in the net and the fish and the flopping around and my fingers just waiting to get caught in the fiasco especially with smallmouth. Thanks for any input
  6. I contacted TW yesterday asking if all problems fixed withIDX and security? And is it safe to order again. This is their reply. Thank you for contacting Tackle Warehouse. With the recent holidays, we are experiencing a high volume of inquiries. Please anticipate a delay in our response time but know that we are working as quickly as possible to assist you. We appreciate your patience and look forward to serving all of your tackle needs! Sincerely, Your Tackle Warehouse Team Also when I log into TW I get these screens about cookies in different format as before? Anyone else get these?
  7. Well I’m losing it, I was putting stuff away for the winter I’m like how the heck was all this stuff in my boat? And in my basement I have like 15 Tupperware for back up tackle. I said well I don’t need anything so I’m good. Ya right Black Friday got me or the bait monkey ? 2 Shimano 70 mgl 1 shimano bfs 1 shimano vanford 1 irod air spinning rod. Out of my comfort zone. Usually zodias levante or Kistler wanted to try it for awhile apparently some jigs and trailers arriving today glad my wife isn’t home for deliveries lol ?
  8. So depending on what kind of job you have 6 weeks is for people who’s job is not very physical. My first torn rotator cuff was fixed arthroscopic with anchors and Kevlar. 6 months before full return to my job that was pretty physical. Second rotator fix done pretty much the same way except the surgeon who is very well respected found my bicep tendon had a major tear so he cut me in my armpit area and cut remaining tendon and reattached it. Couldn’t get at it through arthroscopic holes he fixed rotator cuff with. I developed a partial frozen shoulder and therapy was agonizing. Same 6 months before full duty. I can say that rehab is painful and a full year before I really felt like I was 100%. Well my other bicep tendon has a tear and I have a bone spur that it rubs on. A lot of fun doing anything overhead. So because of insurance change I couldn’t see my excellent surgeon who diagnosed the problem. New quack said meh let it tear off you’ll only lose 6-8% of your strength in that arm. Mind you I had two MRIs done for that diagnosis and this guy wanted me to get another mri. And so it goes. Any amount of overuse even casting overhand all day aggravates the hell out of it. Deciding on finding another surgeon for another opinion. Or just let her tear off doesn’t sound too cool. Obviously everyone’s recovery is different jobs are different and especially surgeons. A surgeon who graduated with 2.0 gpa is still a surgeon.
  9. So I like a medium action spinning rod x-fast for smaller walking baits never had problems catching smallmouth on them. The other day I was using the same rod with popper type bait and had nothing but problems landing fish. I’d set the hook fight them for a second and they’d spit the bait. I’m thinking that rod to wimpy for what I was doing? Any suggestions? I was using 10# Yo-zuri hybrid line. thanks
  10. Well I guess I should’ve addressed it differently if you felt scolded and my apologies. I still feel the same way about bed fishing but like previously said areas around spawning areas have plenty of fish that tip the scales. Good luck and time on the water means everything.. Reading helps get some basics but fishing is the best teacher
  11. Yes sure blame Rodgers for playing his arse off while the defense gets torched by Brady and Tampa’s defense is awesome. How many dropped passes when the ball hits the receiver in the hands? Every year? What about defense/special team meltdown in Seattle? Defensive performance against the 49ers a couple years ago was precious. Is Rodgers a diva probably. Just like Farve they just didn’t always surround them with quality talent. I am disappointed they only won two Super Bowls with two of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. But I’d rather win a lot of games and have a chance to get to the super bowl than being da bears fan and having drafted trubisky. Bahaha ?
  12. Shimano reels and rods. Strike King soft plastics Sad but true
  13. Bed fishing for bass especially smallmouth in clear water is like deer hunting over a pile of corn not that difficult and probably a little unsportsmanlike imho! To each their own. I watch scads of so called bass fisherman show up for the spawn on a lake up here and tick pound the poor bass turds into oblivion and think it’s something special. They couldn’t catch a fish if it weren’t for the big garbage can cover size beds smallies make. Done with the rant
  14. Well a guy could say it’s a medium rod but what weight is it rated for? Not all rods are created equal as they say!
  15. I’m a huge fan of Yo-zuri hybrid line. I use 10# on my Ned rigs lots of rocks zebra mussels up here. I see no sense in extra knots and messing around with braid and leaders. Caught plenty of 4-6 pound plus smallies on this line. Rods are 7’ ml-m and 1/32-1/16 ounce Ned heads. I guess that’s why they’re so many choices cuz everyone likes something different. I use 8# Yo-zuri on drop shot setup works fine imho
  16. Well I agree there are a lot of people who aren’t pros who could be. My comment was kind of tongue and cheek. There’s just a lot of information on here a normal guy probably doesn’t have a ton of information to offer. It’s interesting and informative that’s why I read most everyday.
  17. Hi bass fisher people I’m impressed with the fricken knowledge on this forum. Good geez I feel so uneducated I want to sell all my equipment associated with bass fishing and go perch fishing. Not really. I’m just saying that I did not know there are professional anglers on this site under assumed names giving advice. It’s great I appreciate it the advice is wonderful but don’t be a ghost, you’re an inspiration to us wannabes. But wannabes does not mean I want to be a professional angler.
  18. I try and match color scheme I like to use smaller profile jigs like Riot Baits and tantrum trailers, mouth covered emoji!! My dad always said there are no dumb questions,, just yours are
  19. It’s a little disturbing on some levels cuz guys can’t fish without all their electronics geez balls they have tv screens everywhere most fisherman can’t afford. Denny Brauer a stud Larry NIxon crazy in big tournaments those cats didn’t have all the electronics great rods and reels of this generation. KVD while annoying cuz he was kicking everyone’s a$$ just because no one understood jerkbaits or crank baits like he did. Obviously he can’t really compete in MLF format honestly if it’s not jerk baits or crank baits he’s at a loss like Ike or Ish if frog bite sucks. Theirs plenty more pros that suck too on this format too Biffle
  20. While agree black blue works or green pumpkin colors but geez balls everyone and their cuzin uses the same colors I’m pretty sure the fish get accustomed to the same thing ripping their lips off especially on small lakes. Just sayin. And Luke your jigs look great
  21. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone
  22. Does anyone else find yourself looking for an item like a certain bait you like or rod or reel and no one seems to have the item in stock? Or they have a small quantity and you wait to buy it and it’s gone the next day? Then restock date is somewhere in the future only to get changed as that date gets close ??‍♂️ I guess buying it when I see it might be the answer
  23. I upgraded to the Ultrexx 2summers ago and love it especially when you need to land a fish or retying. I don’t have power poles or talons seems like they’re a pain if a guy is fishing from the back of the boat. Only thing shallow water anchors seem to be useful for is loading and unloading the boat. And they’re pricey.
  24. I have 3 of the new zodias casting rods. 2-7’ m/h and one 6’10” m/h. I really enjoyed fishing we these rods for a month. Light and sensitive and feel really solid all around. The hook keeper kind of in a strange place but at least they have one
  25. I was hoping the weather would change but long range forecast is high 30’s low 40’s for the next weak or so. I winterized my motor today and shut it down for the year. It’s a sad day
