Will the mounting holes match up or will new ones have to be drilled?

They have a whopping good price on H-Bird sidescans and I'm looking to buy. Anyone here deal with them?

I just got a Shimano Sahara for $79 shipped from *** and I can tell you it is the smoothest spinning reel I've ever seen. haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I'm impressed

After reading an article about the Hag's Tornado I picked up three bags of them from ***. They look good and I'm anxious to give them a try. I also use the Shakeyhead worms from Coosa Tackle.

I just sold a Solstace for $5 at my garage sale and probably would have given it away. It used to drive me nuts when fishing a tube for Lake Erie smallies and when you tried to set the hook you got that CLACK as the spool spun backwards to it's stop point plus the slop in your line. Glad to see it go.

The Spinnerbait/Worm rod makes a good crankin' stick for lipless and shallow to medium running lures. Other than that, I won't buy another one.

I'd consider that except they are the fish catchinest lipless crank I've ever tossed 8-)

Thanks to all who responded to my search for a shakey/dropshot rod. I was set to purchase from ***, but occasionally I like to keep my money local. There is a US Bass shop not too far away and while there yesterday I chose a rod made by AllPro Rods. I'd never seen them, but they're headquartered right here in Tennessee. (They have a website) I chose their new APR-EL model, 6'10"MH, rated for 3/16-5/8oz and 8-15lb line. The rods are designed and made here in the USA (a plus). At $149, it was a little more than I wanted to spend, but the rod feels good and I'm sure it will do the job nicely. It will be paired with a new Shimano Sahara FD reel spooled with PowerPro 20lb braid and 10lb leader. Once I get a chance to fish it, I'll post on it again. 8-)

Was reading an article where it was mentioned that after using these lures for a time, it's necessary to tune them like a regular crankbait. I've got one that likes to run on it's side, so do you just bend the tie to the right or left?

I ordered one thru ***, and then saw one locally yesterday morning. Felt super smooth and I believe it will cast very nicely. That being said, I compared it to an Orra and would have to say that if I had it to do over I may have gone with that one instead of the Shimano. The Orra just felt like it was made of "sterner stuff", but we will see.

I need another baitcaster. Have considered the BPS Pro Qualifier (like the dual braking), the Abu Orra SX, Revo S. I really like the Curados and most of my reels are older Curados/Castaics which continue to give me great service. Saw the new Caenan online and it looks good at a good price. Anyone?

I'm headed out on a gear safari this morning to see what's available locally, but more than likely *** will get the nod...................

Ah, OK. I'm kinda looking for which model number on the suggestions. I hate buying something sight unseen, but I may have to here. Is a 7' medium too light for shakey-heads? Is the 7' MH too heavy for dropshotting? My mind is going in circles here. Gotta be one rod for both.

Here's the criteria (spinning only): 1. Should work for both shakey-head and dropshot. 2. Line will be 20lb braid w/co-poly leader (10lb) 3. Keep cost at $100 (+ or - a buck or two) Looking for something in the Vendetta, BuCoo, Veritas line of rods, but I'm open to other suggestions.

I installed the ComfortTroll in my '98 Triton and it's made it a whole lot easier on my back. Very good to deal with. Called to order and had the email verifying shipping within the hour. Whichever one you get, you'll like it.

I agree with a spoon or perhaps a blade bait like the Silver Buddy. In looking at your photo, the two masses on the left look to me like baitfish. The one to the right next to the bridge looks like it may have some larger fish in it.

Not sure what kind of "springs" hold up the lid, but you might try replacing them with the lifts used on all new rigs. Your dealer should have them.

On windy days, my favorite has always been a big Devil's Horse. I pop it hard and fast so it makes a good commotion. Got some real nice fish that way.

Clumsy as I'm getting in my old age, I'm beginning to think it's a matter of time before I go head over butt out of the boat. I do have a regular life jacket I wear when I'm running, but it's too bulky and hot to wear while fishing. I've looked at the auto-inflatables from Cabelas, BPS, and Mustang in the catalogs. The Mustangs are a bit pricey. Looking for an auto-inflatable w/manual backup that won't A: Inflate in the rain, or B: Break the bank. Any suggestions?

If you have DISH, they offer it as part of their HD package. Currently, it's also on a non-HD channel, so it must be part of a package somewhere in their lineup.

I've used SilverThread co-poly since Bagley introduced it way back when. My rods are still spooled with either Super SilverThread or the AN-40. The 17lb line has about the same diameter as 12lb Trilene. Not everyone carries it these days, but it's still reasonably priced and one of the best lines out there IMO. As for whether it sinks or not, after all these years of using it I never really paid any attention to exactly what it does. All I can say is that I've caught a ton of fish on it and never had a break with it that was the fault of the line.

I've never seen any of your products in any of the local tackleshops. I do use the Cavitron BB though.
