  1. Remember when BASSMasters was televised on TNN? Remember when Bob Cobb was the master of ceremonies, along with Ray Scott? Remember when the likes of Larry Nixon, Ron Shuffield, David Fritts and other fished B.A.S.S.? Remember when the BASSmasters TV showed more fishing than talking? It's all here. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/user/Dollar714#p/u/72/N6xDI9zmE2c
  2. I think I'll save my money. Wiping with ArmorAll sounds like a better deal and a whole lot cheaper.
  3. http://www.myoutdoortv.com/gear-guide/frazier-marine-group/rod-glow Got a flyer in the mail from Northern Bass Supply that had this in it. Looks like it might be worth trying but thought I'd check here first.
  4. Shimano........what else? Although I'll admit that the new Abu might be tempting.

I agree, but I'll stretch that to include most of the 80's. Strange, but the older I get the less I want to listen to a lot of what I thought was great (60's) and include more of the 80's music. :
  6. I use 10lb leader on my dropshot and 12lb on the shakeyhead rod, attached to 20lb PowerPro with the uni/uni. Make 8 wraps with the braid and 5-6 with the leader.
  7. Couldn't agree more. I tip my hat to people who can do it with a baitcasting rig....I can even make it work maybe a couple of times out of 10. So much easier using a good spinning outfit.
  8. Don't feel bad you didn't get it. I have a couple of them.....setting in my closet. Do they cut your heat bill???....sure, if you heat with gas. However, the "whirring" noise you hear when they're running is your electric meter. : I've kept mine in the event of a power outage during cold weather I can plug them into my generator and still have heat. They do put out a nice, comfortable heat, but although your gas bill will go down, the electric sure won't.
  9. I switch a lot of mine over to the Excalibur rotating trebles and don't have any trouble getting hookups 8-)
  10. Aha....it was stuck in my mind somewhere that they were all owned by a parent company but couldn't remember exactly WHO :
  11. Dual console: Yep if you fish a lot with a partner. Nope if you fish mainly by yourself. TM: If you're going over 20' get the 36v. I just installed a 24v MK Fortrex on my older TR20 (19'6") w/80lb thrust and it's a dandy. Motor: I'm not a slave to brand, but if money is no object I'd have to go with the new Yammie SHO 4-stroke. PowerPole: If you have a lot of shallow water to fish and things like pad fields or matted grass where you might want to maintain position then I vote yes. SI: Definitely at console, same at bow if you can swing it. If not, then at least get one on the bow that has down imaging/downscan. You'll see things a whole lot better that way. GPS: Absolutely. Also get a Navionics chip to go with. Autobilge: YEP Pumpout: Yep again. On-board charger: Yes, yes, yes. (Did I mention YES?) I've been running the same DualPro 3-bank unit 24/7 for 12 years and it's still going strong. Rough water ride: Best rough water boat I've ever been in was a Champion. Heard good things about the 'Cats and several others.
  12. Ah, I may be having a senior moment here, but isn't the Veritas made by AbuGarcia? I can't imagine Fenwick replacing one of their rods with one of theirs.
  13. I said exactly that to a friend who bought a new Apple. That was in the pre-internet days. Nowadays, every kid is allowed to use a calculator in his/her match class. Look at the ones working as a cashier. Most of them couldn't count out correct change if the register didn't tell them how much.
  14. For the last year I've been using a 55" LG LED unit that is absolutely great. Newer ones are now backlit. More expensive and frankly I couldn't see the difference when viewing them side by side. Consumer Reports always rates the LG sets highly.
  15. Bomber Square A 5" Yum Dinger (Watermelon Red Flake) 5" Hags Tornado (California Red)
  16. I have an older AllStar SRMHTN, MH action that I use for all my Senko/Wacky rigging. It's paired with an AbuGarcia reel and 20lb Spiderwire Stealth braid. Works great for skipping, too.
  17. I use the 5" Hags for my shakey heads. I use a 1/8-3/16 oz football head for mine. The action is tremendous
  18. I agree 100%. For the time I change lures, I'd rather snip off a bit of leader than that miserably expensive braid.
  19. I have never, ever owned a Bomber that didn't run true out of the box. Try the Square A, Fat A, or the Flat A. In Bandits, try the Footloose if the water is shallow or the 100 and 200 series.
  20. I love coffee......probably to excess which is why I spend half the night wearing out a path to the bathroom ;D
  21. I use 20lb Spiderwire Stealth or PowerPro 20lb on most of my reels including spinning. No negatives so far. I use co-poly leader joined with the double-uni knot.
  22. Check out both the Humminbird and Lowrance sites and pick your poison. I've used Lowrance products for years and recently bought the H-bird 898 for use at the console and I'm not sorry I did. The least expensive models will have smaller screens. I suggest that you save your scheckels and get a larger screen version if possible. Let your fingers do the walking on the internet to get the best price. I saved almost $300 over catalog prices including free shipping and no sales tax by doing that. If you want to know where, drop me a PM. I'm still learning with mine and I love it.
  23. [quote author=6769612D0 link=1291351737/19#19 date=1291460917 I don't know about other guys but I never could get the Slug-Go to work as a jerk bait. The action was too erratic and it had an upward movement that would cause it to jump and break the surface too much.
  24. Ozark Mountain made a lure called a "Kingfisher" that is absolutely one of the best baits for fishing matted grass or slop that I've ever seen. I still have 3 of them. Ugly looking thing, but baby do they work!
  25. I use the Lamiglas Excel 703 spinning rod and absolutely love it 8-)
