  1. Try some that run in the 3-5' range. Bomber's Square A is a dandy in that respect as are the smaller Bandits.
  2. I'll go with the flow here on depth.
  3. I see a lot of the pros using braid up to 65lb on rods used for flipping, frogging, or whatever, yet these rods are most likely rated for lines up to around 25lbs. Their hooksets look like any other that I've seen. What keeps the rods from breaking using heavy braid like that? A lighter drag setting? Rod action? Inquiring minds.......... :-?
  4. I'd like to know where you can get an 80lb Fortrex for $750?? Every place I've found they're about $1100. Anyway, I'm thinking of upgrading my TM as well, and I'd really like to go with the Fortrex this time around.
  5. The old Ozark Mountain Kingfisher is my choice for topwater in grass.
  6. and I decided that although I want one....I can definitely live without it. Just under 20K!!!!!!
  7. The way I understand it, YUM got the rights to MadMan. The CrawBug and the MadMan are identical. I've got several bags of the original and guess what????....can't recall ever tossing one. Maybe I ought to at least give them a try.... :-?

I'm no fan of Skeet's, but I can feel a bit for what happened to him. That said, he had the same chances as every one else but failed to come through at the end. As Reese said, he peaked early and KVD peaked late. Is the post season format fair? That will be debated forever. You either don't see a problem with it or you hate it. Either way, for the time being that's the way BASS wants it so that's the way it is. We'll see what transpires next year. There won't be any "west coast swing" for Skeet, and KVD won't have Kentucky Lake. Should be interesting.
  9. I'm busy removing my foot from my mouth...
  10. Same here. They're great pegs for slip sinkers.
  11. Bass Champs has the potential to be a lot better than it is. Way too much talking/interviewing and not nearly enough fishing IMO.
  12. Normally I watch this show and enjoy it. I've fished Chautauqua Lake many times and won some money there. It's a great lake. After finally watching the show last night on my DVR, all I can say is that the scenery brought back some fond memories. I found the rest of it rather boring. Not the best for sure.
  13. Either 10 or 12# Super Silver Thread. Never had a problem.
  14. If the hubs were too hot to put your hand on, you've got problems. I've gone through this twice....once with a Ranger (they sent me stainless steel rebuild kits free of charge even though the trailer was SEVEN years old!!) , and once with my Triton (brakes didn't release...cost me almost $350 for a complete rebuild using SS components).
  15. Money being what it is, I doubt I'll ever be able to afford another rig, but if I did, the new BassCat Eyra is smack at the top of the list. I've read comments on various boats over the years and can't recall a single bad thought about them.
  16. I'll go along with the Eagle Claw bobber stops. Can't believe I wasted all those years with toothpicks before trying those idiotic rubber "nails" that I couldn't get through the sinker to save my life. The bobber stops are the cat's behind. 8-)
  17. Kinda old news there Skeety. Your info is true. ESPN is dropping all the fishing shows with the exception of the Elite Series. Zona's "World's Greatest Fishing Show" has been picked up by the Outdoor Channel and will be renamed "Zona's Awesome Fishing Show". You're also correct about losing tobacco sponsors. I think it was Jeff Kriet that was sponsored by Longhorn and after this season it's down the tubes.

Funny....I went through the whole thing and saw very little that even interested me. That new $90 Shimano baitcaster looked good, and the new Abu-Garcia Verdict rod, too. More in my price range....
  19. Best LM - 8.0 caught on a spinnerbait. Best SM - 6.0 caught on a Silver Buddy.
  20. There is actually a version of the lure that's made specifically for flipping/pitching.
  21. Both my jig and worm rods are Falcon LowRiders, LFC-6-17's. I like 'em.
  22. I have one.. Really liked the rod until it broke. They have a limited lifetime warranty which is nice, but it cost $60 bucks in shipping cost to get a new $90 rod. Did you try taking it back where you bought it? My local dealer said as long as I have the original sales receipt just bring it back and he'll replace it on the spot.
  23. I'd seen them but refused to pay the asking price. Then one day I saw some of the originals in a tackle shop on special for $2.98 so I bought a couple. Went out on Ky Lake after the flood waters receded somewhat and fishing one of my favorite spots I couldn't buy a strike. Water was still almost muddy. Grabbed a chartreuse Chatterbait and had 14 bass on about 30 casts, and every one hooked smack in the roof of the mouth. I fish them now anytime the water is "noisy", i.e. heavy chop.
  24. To my eyes...at least in the catalogs...the YUM Mad Craw looks almost identical to the Mad Man product.
