  1. This. I own this exact combo and it's great!
  2. Man, probably my Zillion SV TWS 6:3:1, first highend reel and caught some of the biggest fish on it. A couple fours or low fives. Had a Promax which I caught some high fours on, first baitcaster, and then there is my Curado K just loved the feel of the reel.
  3. I picked up an older Steez 103 XS(mint condition) for 25% off on Friday afterwork. All I wanted really. There were lots of deals.
  4. I would recommend going to this swimbait group on Facebook. There is plenty of seasoned swimbait fisherman who can guide you on this question. From the sounds of it, I would be grabbing the 2nd rod with the tranx 300 simply because power. https://www.facebook.com/groups/swimbaituniverse/
  5. Since we are talking drag and settings what is the recommendation for fisherman to set their reels? I’ll admit I lock mine down, especially when frogging or flipping, but reading this not sure that’s necessary? Help me understand pls.
  6. A Dobyns 795 is a MH/Fast action with its main purpose for glides, a-rigs and such which means the rod will probably load up deeper into the blank to help keeping the fish pinned. The 806 from Dobyns, is gonna have a bit more power than 795 because it’s a Heavy and when you stick those fish, you’re grinding them to the boat. Jig hook style baits and weedless style baits work well when paired with this rod.
  7. I love my Tatula SV’s as until recently had two 8:1, two 7:3, and one 6:3. They are great reels and do far more than most people give them credit. Loved my Curado K 6.2, this was my spinnerbait and chatterbait reel, did everything I wanted it to do. But I never fished it with lighter baits. The 70 is a fine reel, it works for heavier and lighter baits too, a lot like the Tatula. Between these, you won’t loose, but I think the Tatula or the 70 will be better at throwing lighter baits.
  8. 795 man, can’t go wrong or the 806. I’m looking at the 795 myself.
  9. For sale only now. Asking $300
  10. The Steez A will accept Zillion spools 1016 SV, for the time I switched spools between a zillion and my Steez A and it will work. Its like a poor mans Steez SV if you will lol! If you got the money knock yourself out. I bought my Steez A on ebay for 359.99 and sold it for 300 or 350.
  11. Depending on rod, but most of the time I’m running braid to leader with 12lb flouro on the end. Either Sunline or Seagur. Haven’t had a problem with straight braid either.
  12. The two combos I use for senkos are Tatula Elite AGS 7’ MMH/F w/ Daiwa Zillion SV or Tatula LT 2500 w/ Cronos 7’ Medium Fast. Both are great tossing them weightless or Texas rigged, but the spinning is bit better throwing wacky senkos.
  13. I found this sometime ago and can’t help but think that fish was pushing 9 if not maybe a little more. The potential is there I think.
  14. Nice Fry! Catch a 10lber! It’s what we all dream of or maybe just me? Lol!
  15. Have the new Tatula 100 and spent time casting this weekend and have to say distance is good. On par with my SV’s I’d say, mine was a little rough out of the box so with a little oil everything was smoothed up. Probably could go through it and it would help, just don’t care that much. It’s a sweat reel. I’ve only held the rods in store and they seem to be quite nice, good feel and balance to them.
  16. I have lightly used GLX 893c JWR I might trade for something similar just a little shorter.
  17. Daiwa or Shimano. That’s all I use, only other reel I could see myself using is megabass.
  18. Since I have zero time behind a Megabass then I'd go for the Dobyns. They are very balanced, light, and sensitive which means good for detecting bites or bottom contact.
  19. I'd say 8:1:1 is for fast top water or when you need to pick up line quick like Texas Rig or Carolina Rig. 7:3:1 you can frog, top water, swim jig, and much more in my mind than an 8:1:1. I have more 7:3:1s than any other reel, my 6:3:1 and 8:1:1 are a close second in terms of how many I own. Looking at the 7:3:1.
  20. I am a big Daiwa fan, use their Tatula Elites, their fast seems more mod/fast or regular as they call it and Dobyns is definitely a fast action. Don't get my wrong, I love the Tatula Elites it's just their made differently and Dobyns their name speaks for themselves.
  21. Have a 893GLX and love it, super sensitive and lightweight(not that it matters much). Ive wanted to try an Expride just haven't.
  22. Found this thread after encountering the same problem on my Tatula SV, oil under the tension cap and spool bearing. The noise is gone.
  23. If your goal is $100 or less then I’d recommend the Daiwa Fuego LT. If the goal is less than $100 then look at the Daiwa Legalis LT 69.99. People are loving this reel and it’s great for the price point.
