  1. As the title states this is all about gear. Currently at 9 set-up, two of which are spinning and the rest are baitcasters. Wanting to get the most use out of my rods and reels, I am asking for advice. Either repair the rods and reels, sell off combos, or keep things the way they are. I do realize that a couple set-ups seem identical and that’s what I’m trying to get rid of. Thanks in advance. 2. I live in pike and Muskie country aka Minnesota. My best suggestions in order to prevent bite wire leaders. That’s the only thing which can garuntee them not biting your lure off. On rare instances I’ve caught pike on braid, but it’s pretty tough with their teeth.
  3. Daiwa Tatula Elite 7’4 H/F, if you can get past the color it’s a great rod. Can bomb frogs and pull them through the thick stuff. Otherwise id start looking at the Steez rods.
  4. Brown is the one color I don’t have lol! Thanks! The last frog bite I was one my colors were standard green w/ white belly and mossy brown top w/ chartreuse belly. Thanks.
  5. Can't go wrong with the Cronos rods, been using them for a year or so now. I have multiple Tatula Elites and they are solid rods too. Won't be disappointed in either. The sleeper is the Tatula XT at around 119.99 or so, 7ft MHF-7'6 HF. There is a MHXF Cronos in a 7'1. The Tatula Elites have a couple H/Fast in 6'9 or 7ft, then a few MH 7-7'3 MH/F. All I would recommend. Reel seats are the biggest difference with them.
  6. Interesting, something to consider for sure. Thank you.
  7. Got it. Thanks.
  8. I have a Teckel, thanks for the pointers. I fish a league and the night the frog bite was on point. Got a decent kicker fish at the end. Color suggestions?
  9. So I’m good on frogs then. That helps. Thanks. Nathan
  10. Hello all, looking for some help. Always liked frog fishing but never fished mats of weeds with frogs before till this past Wednesday. Need some advice. My frogs include: bully wa2 55&65 jackalls Both sizes booyahs and miscellaneous Rod and reel are: Tatula SV 7:3 w/65lb braid and 7’4 ish frog rod Tatula Elite ags Nathan
  11. The couple here in Minnesota I’ve been to are doing okay, their prices are capitative and they have brands like 6th Sense which I can’t find locally. Prices are on par with other bigger and local stores. So far I like the products, I will say this though.
  12. 7ft and up, but I’m 6’4 lol!
  13. I have three Tatula SVs, two Zillion SVs and neither of them have this issue. They are consistent performers and no issues.
  14. I use either a 7ft or 7’3 med fast for my neds. Braid or braid to leader with a 2500 Daiwa in either Fuego or Tatula LT. The 7ft Tatula spinning rod is around $100 and is very sensitive for the price. Give it a look.
  15. Anyone fish Bald Eagle? Fishing there for a local tournament series and that’s the first lake. Suggestions? My teammate was throwing senkos yesterday, but nothing over a pound.
  16. I'm a Daiwa guy, but love my K absolute beast compared the I which imo was okay at best. I'd love to see a Curado K in 70 size that would be the bees knees. I use my K for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits mostly.
  17. Thanks guys, I think the Steez might pull double duty because of being able to change spools. Am I crazy for wanting to throw an ounce bait on it with the standard spool?
  18. Last winter purchased a Daiwa Steez A in 7:1:1 and read somewhere you can switch the spool out for a SV spool? Anyone know if that’s true? If so, what spool would work?
  19. Was out today fishing pool two, lots of ice in the back pockets of the Mississippi. Maybe one bite, but it was great to be out fishing.
  20. I’m interested in what people have to say with their experiences of the reel and what it brings besides more line capacity.
  21. April fools day prank? Lol
  22. 6 or 7 gear ratio, while I own two or three of each gear ratio, there are plenty both do well. I’ve thrown top water on 6:3s and cranked spinnerbaits and chatterbaits on 7s. Probably the most versatile gearing for reels.
  23. Very tempting. I like it.
