  1. I'm hoping to get off of the bank this year. So I'm trying not to buy much gear to save for a kayak or a small boat. I have bought a few small things, but I've been mostly good ha. Getting off of the bank is going to do more good for me than another rod or reel that I probably don't need.
  2. Picked up an Okeechobee Fats tackle bag from Walmart. Downsized from my old college backpack that I've been using. Shaved off around 10lbs without really sacrificing much. It came with two medium sized trays that I put my hard baits into. I chose the ones that I'm most likely to use and left out ones I haven't touched in years. I cut way down on plastics. I had two trays of plastics in my other bag. Also had a ton of random bagged plastics shoved in there. I chose a mix of plastics that were in their original packs and then one Ziplock bag of random worms and another with random creature baits. I know some will be kinked but big whoop. Roughly 15.5lbs down to around 5.5lbs. Don't feel like I'm really sacrificing anything. Going to a smaller bag just made me pare down to the essentials. Should be enough to beat the bank with. I did also pick up a couple of Bomber Shallow As to try.
  3. The first one that I can remember was on a Rooster Tail. That wasn't on purpose. My first one while targeting Bass was a Texas rigged Senko believe. I remember being excited that I actually caught something on a plastic worm.
  4. It's like any other product, more marketing/fancier packaging means higher prices. I think if you want a mix of quality and lower prices, look at smaller companies like Siebert Outdoors. I could probably get by with just Zoom and Berkley plastics. A lot of plastics are very similar in presentation. Formulas will vary, different scents, ElaZtech, etc. but essentially they are all imitating the same things.
  5. I ordered a few of those in different colors. Love throwing spinnerbaits. Patiently awaiting some warmer weather.
  6. I typically use what is available locally and/or what I get on sale online. If I can get 40% off of a particular brand, it's a no brainer to stock up. So I've got a box full of Biospawn and Gambler plastics that I need to use. But I could probably get by with Zoom products alone. Baby Brush Hogs are a go to. It's hard to resist buying more plastics when there's a good deal.

  8. I use an old Targus laptop bag that I used all through college. It has lots of compartments for storage. I have two 3700 size boxes, two smaller boxes for plastics, and a box with hooks. I also have some random plastics in bags shoved in it. I could definitely get by with less but it has basically anything that I would need for bank fishing.
  9. Picked up a Magellan branded long sleeved sun shirt at Academy yesterday. Just ordered some face shields from Salt Armour, 5 for $15 is the cheapest that I've found. Just need some sun gloves and I'll be pretty well protected.
  10. I have some Yum glasses that were like $5 at Wal-Mart and some other glasses that I got at Target for around $20. Can't bring myself to spend $100+ on sunglasses.
  11. I checked it out this evening. They had plenty of Lucky Craft lures but they were all $6.99 from what I saw. Also Senkos for $5.99. The rest were random Yum baits and and no name lures. I picked up two Lucky Craft lures to try because my 15% off was expiring.
  12. Going to try to have a jig tied on at all times this year. I have a good selection via Siebert Outdoors. I just get frustrated with them because I bank fish and end up catching a bunch of muck. I'm also going to try a dropshot this year.
  13. I went out for a short time today. Water is still pretty muddy. But I caught my first bass of the year. It was a dink. Caught it on a Pepper's Custom Baits spinnerbait with a Rage Swimmer trailer. Caught him with the trailer hook.
  14. I could probably pare my creature baits down to Baby Brush Hogs, Rage Craws, and Pitt Bosses. I have some others but those are what I have probably thown the most and are widely available. 15. Wal-Mart, Academy, Dick's. If I want something specific, or there is a good sale, I'll shop online.
  16. 1 pack of Baby Brush Hogs $3 1 pack of 3/0 EWG hooks $4 1 pack of Yum Dingers $3 3/16 bullet weights $2 1 Strike King Red Eyed Shad $5 1 spinnerbait $3
  17. I've had luck with the 6.5" Plasma Tail on a shaky head. I like the Junebug/Plasma color. I still have a pile of their baits I bought during one of their sales last year.
  18. I went out for a bit earlier today. I had some bites on a spinnerbait and had one hooked but it came off. Water looked about like chocolate milk. Things should be heating up here soon hopefully.
  19. I consider myself frugal in general. But that doesn't mean cheap. I will spend the extra money for quality equipment if I feel it's worth it. I keep an eye out for deals but try not to go overboard. I'be been getting some of my gear organized and realized that I need to not buy any plastics for a while. I have a pile of Gambler and Biospawn plastics that I bought last year during sales they had around Christmas. My goal is to try to use up as many of my plastics as I can and only restock the ones that I use regularly.
  20. I bank fish and recently put some of my more commonly used plastics in an Ozark Trail branded box. It's the perfect size for about 8 different plastics. It's more organized than a bunch of bags shoved in my backpack.
  21. BamaBass, SBFishingTV, YouTubeFishingVids, Bassresource, Scott Martin, and LFG are the ones I watch the most. Although LFG is a "Googan" now.
  22. I have a Bass Pro gift card that I think I'm going to put towards an AFTCO Samurai Hoodie. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/AFTCO-Samurai-Hooded-Sun-Shirt-for-Men?storeId=715838534
  23. Sweet. I'm near Wadesville/Poseyville so not too far.
  24. I live in Posey County. Just waiting for some warmer temps. Stocking up on baits ha.
  25. I'm in the Evansville area if anyone is interested in meeting up sometime.
