How important is a creek channel on a natural lake, with no current besides possibly current created by wind?

I was fishing a natural lake here in Iowa and seen a thermocline at 10 foot but would move across the lake or even to a new spot and see one at 12 or not see one at all. Why is this? also some people was fishing in very deep water and that didn’t make any sense to me if the thermocline was at 10 feet

Do you get all your rods set up in advance and just adjust weights/baits, keeping the line, reel and rod the same? so for example do you always have two flipping rods ready but just adjust the bait or?

We really have weeds instead of grass and they die out quick most are dead probably around 90 percent do you ignore them at this stage?

I have it down all the way currently. I measured where the trolling motor sits on the bow to the water and it was 17” inch until my boat sat in the water. I mainly fish mid/deep. Same thrust 80lb Some more info

I'm a little lost on how to truly understand contours. I know how to read them but I don't understand by lookin at the contours its probably a hard bottom. Any suggestions?

I currently run a 18foot v-`8 with a 45'' fortex I live in Iowa where its pretty windy, I don't think the trolling motor has ever came out of the water due to waves and if it has it hasn't been very long what would you run length wise for this kind of boat want to make sure if I was to upgrade I would be making the right choice

Bumping this post, Catt you fish out of tin right? You don't have a spotlock motor correct? Do you anchor down or just keep your foot on the trolling motor at 40/50 percent?

so curious how many of you won't fish baits like a flutter spoon if there are no shad in your lakes but there are crappie I mean it's almost similar it color shading I think for a fish. Do you not think about matching the baitfish in your waters and just use baits to fit the situation?

What is a creek bed exactly is it just a different name for creek channel?

I seen some bassmaster pros using a mh fast action for baits like a whopper plopper. Isn’t it uncommon to use a fast action for a bait like this and more common to use a moderate action

This is correct I’m usually trying to hit a rock pile something I should easily feel at some point in the cast sometimes they are stumps

So quite a few times I’ve seen fish in the 25/30 foot range and have tried to fish it using a Kietech. The issue is I can’t seem to hit the target on the map this is what I’ve tried zooming in on the front unit Marker buoy (shocked this doesn’t work) having a arrow on the unit and a being a distance of less than 50 feet Way. maybe I’m just not feeling the object but I cast about 8 times before giving up with the wind constantly blowing my Tin boat out of position

How did you best learn how bass behavior according to weather during certain times of the year? Did you learn a little bit at a time by being on the water or was it from reading a certain item, or possibly watching a video? I know the basics but am always trying to improve and am looking for your favorite resource it what helped you really learn how bass reacted to certain weather conditions in certain times of the year.

I’m marking the way point and stoping about 40 feet away from the way point. I have the bow arrow lined up to the waypoint make my cast and it feels like I’m off the target instantly while I still didn’t hit the way point on that initial cast notes my point one is right in front of the console so half of the length of the boat I think I account for that 8 foot difference as much as I can I don’t know what my normal cast length is though so maybe 48 foot is to much but then again I don’t hit it when I’m 30 foot away I have a tracker v-18 and get pushed by the wind quiet a bit I can’t think of any other factors or notes I should add besides I should have the back unit making way points at the item since I’m using a touch screen carbon.

I was at a 400 acre lake recently and there was a 20 boat tournament at the same time. It seem like there was only certain spots people would fish and would just rotate according to if there was a boat on there or not.
