  1. Got two for ya.
  2. Could you pm me with the name of that rod?
  3. How well do those guides work with leader knots?
  4. Mach Speed Stick - I'll check it out, thanks! I'm also looking at Fenwick's in the 1/16th oz range as well.
  5. Since I'm down to one rod currently and have an extra reel lying around, I was looking for something to do really light-weight tackle. Like a 1/16 Ned Rig. Allegedly, the 6'7" TP-1 Speed Stick IM8 rod was specifically designed to utilize the Ned rig. http://www.in-fisherman.com/bass/lews-tp167mlfs-spinning-rod-for-midwest-finesse/ The $99 price is right around my max budget as the rod I'm replacing cost me $80. Does anyone have any experience with this rod utilizing the super-light Ned Rigs? What other rods, if any, have been specifically designed for the Ned? Any rods up to about $100 to recommend? Thanks! I should mention that casting distance is a major priority of mine since I'm currently a shore-only angler. Farther out I can get these tiny jigs, the better.
  6. Going to school full-time and working part-time, I usually get out once/week. Maybe twice if I've got a wild hair. This weekend I'll be heading up to Hoover Reservoir with my brother, see if we can FINALLY catch a darn smallmouth.
  7. Well ****. Lol
  8. You can do like I'm doing - see which happens first, you catch a fish or the Indians lose a game. For now, my money is on the Indians.
  9. I'm not going to hide where I fish or prevent a fellow angler from doing so. I even post GPS locations in my threads Nobody owns the fish - if I can help someone else profit where I failed, I will.
  10. I never catch anything so I can't tell them. If I do, I'll tell 'em. Fishing is a community sport - the idea of keeping all these "honey holes" secret is obscene to me.
  11. Check my post in the reports forum. ;:)
  12. Cabelas was out, but Fisherman's Central in Akron had them so I picked up the Loon color. Thanks folks.
  13. I'm going to Hoover Reservoir tomorrow morning to fish with a friend and I wanted to grab a couple wp90s. Mostly because I managed to lose the one we had in a tree... Lol What color do the smallies tend to prefer?
  14. That's one thing the Army drilled into me - a cover when outdoors and eyepro when doing just about anything. Picked up some spiderwire polarized shades at Cabelas this weekend. Dunno how good they are impact-wise, but the should withstand anything I can throw at them!
  15. Ok, I'm willing to take the hit on this one and be "that guy". Remember, if you truly want to help these people, donate to the Red Cross or other organizations actively helping these people. Thoughts and Prayers aren't enough. Even small donations of $1 or bottled water, etc add up and make a real difference.
  16. Have to head up to Columbus on Friday to get a recall taken care of on my car, so I thought I'd stop by Griggs Reservoir. Apparently it's pretty darn good for Smallmouth. Any of you have experience there?
  17. I'm using the 3.8" FAT swing's and with a War Eagle underspin head, it's a bit heavy, but it has great action in the water and casts quite well. I'm thinking of rigging one up with a belly-weighted hook and trying that out.
  18. As someone with only two rods/reels, and I typically only use one of them, I use snaps a LOT so I'm not constantly re-tying and wasting line. I'll go about 10-15min before I switch lures.
  19. Those of you suggesting I just try a bullet-weighted texas-rigged worm, what weight bullet weight should I use? I figure 1/4oz would be good with about a #3/0 EWG hook?
  20. So, I don't have any jigs or worms for shakey head, so I was looking into them on here. To me, it looks like the Shakey Head and Ned Rig are quite similar in rigging and presentation. Is the main difference the Shakey Head uses larger worms than the Ned? Because I'm going to be buying some of those Big Bad Bait Squirrel Tail 6" and the Ned Rig sticks I have are in the 2.75-3" range.
  21. That surprises me about the trout - I know they stock them but I hadn't imagined that they'd have survived this long since water temps are probably above 70. They were stocked back on March 23rd, so I assumed they were all dead or caught. I do have two colors of Powerbait and some small hooks, maybe I'll try that sometime. Need to get a bobber though... I threw just about every lure I tried near the spillway control tower - even got the Lunkerhunt 1oz swimbait stuck ON the tower since I can apparently cast it farther than I thought I could. Tried a couple senkos there as well as the keitechs on war eagle underspins. I'll check out the Yo-Zuri and others, see what might work here. Appreciate your input! EDIT: Is Wolf Run Lake deep enough for the temp differential to be high enough for trout to survive year-round? I think it's max depth is 50ish ft.
  22. Clarity is quite good - I would say 4ft+. I've tried that! I was on-shore on rocks on the dam. Allegedly it's about 30ft deep there. https://webapp.navionics.com/#boating@15&key=cxzqFv~upN I was fishing mine pretty quickly compared to what advice was offered above. I also tried a KVD jerkbait and didn't get any strikes either. As for the baitfish bit, that's good to know - I figured they had to be bass since the disturbances were so big! lol I've tried numerous lakes - as you can see, my last 10+ trips and I've had 2 catches. And they were both dinks. I don't think it's the lakes as much as it idiot holding the rod. I don't. It's just the spot I've picked. It's also relatively easily accessible and according to my brother people have logged catching bass there - with pictures.. Don't have a whopper just yet. They're all too heavy for my rod and I hear the 90 is quite bad. I've tried numerous kinds of senkos, yum dingers, couple different keitech FATs with war eagle underspins, some Berkley swimbaits, etc. If I have it, I've thrown it.
  23. Good to know - hopefully I can finally get something to bite!
  24. Awesome - thank you very much! Would I be better off just tying my snap to the braid rather than using the flouro leader? I also have Pline CXX - would that serve better as a leader? What happens in about 2 weeks?
