  1. I have heard great things about that bait around here- especially on a C-Rig. I'd like some green pumpkin 10"ers myself
  2. I had a lot of success with this setup last season, I like the albright knot with 8 wraps myself- you can use the braid for long periods of time and use super high end flouro all year with out braking the bank due to short leader versus a whole spool at a time usage- and yes the quality of flouro matters- did I mention almost zero line twist as well-
  3. In bass fishing the more diversified you are the more success you will have. I have seen a lot of wasted afternoons in the back of my boat- some guys just wont break away with what they are comfortable with even when I've been put'n limits in the boat- heck one guy last summer wouldn't even use a bait I offered him- what a wasted entry fee as I see it. When I get a good guy behind me hitting the jackpot I will pay attention and see what it is they are doing- I will change based on this sometimes- use your head and don't be so stubborn.
  4. What size Lucky Craft Sammy do you guys prefer the 85 or the 100? I fish some realllly clear water and you guesed it ghost minnow is the color around here- I'd like some of your guys' input- thanx
  5. Talk about your pick- maybe some tips as well- thank you
  6. Well senko man we have largies around here too- that's good to know- thanx
  7. I am gearing up for next year... What size would you suggest for smallmouth in really clear water? I am thinking the 85, they are the same weight (1/2oz) the 85 is 3.25" and the 100 is 4" long... thanks in advance for your input
  8. the 50mg is a great reel for light stuff- although the drag is pretty week. If you ever plan on throwing bigger stuff for bigger fish you will want a full sized reel. Just IMO- the 50mg is a great little reel in the right application.
  9. I really wish they would get rid of the power hump-
  10. Green pumpkin, roadkill, or green goby would be my choices- they make nice jig trailers you will be happy with them
  11. go buy a bunch of these somewhere local- http://www.***.com/descpage-P3601.html do not buy them online and have them shipped(not cost effective)- get them at walmart or some place like that you will find them- buy several. Load them up with your tackle. For buzzbaits and spinner baits you may need bigger compartments those boxes are readily available as well-use a backpack(s) or any duffle bag to carry them. It will be very inexpensive and heck you may even look like a pro
  12. lucky craft CB's are great crankbaits I throw 100 250's and 350's a lot.
  13. get yourself a couple LC pointers and staysees for deeper water- losing them can be done but there is usually a good chance you will come home with your bait as jerkbaits are mainly used in open water so buy good ones like LC
  14. the speed trap is a great bait I have had some of the most vicious hits on it- if they want it you will be very busy all day long
  15. I sharpen new hooks all the time- but indeed the eagle claws are junkola for life
  16. * DS * Tube are my best producers for smallmouth- they work all year round. There can be better options but I always have one of each on the rod deck.
  17. A lot of guys use high speed reels 6:1+ ratio for flipping/pitching. When you do get bit it pulls the fish out of the cover faster and if you don't get bit you get the bait back faster for the next cast.
  18. most of the smallmouth i catch have the bronze or orange look to their eyes- great looking fish and a pleasure to catch
  19. We fished it in September winning weight was 22LBS in 5 fish- each day I fished it I caught a 5LB'er. Not very many locals fish that place for bass I love it up there.
  20. How big is this new hard blue gill?
  21. Lucky Craft D9 Slim Shad is exactly what this guy needs
  22. I love the Giron!
  23. tubes are great- I use them with a 3/16,1/4 or 3/8oz dart head. All tube colors are great as long as they are green pumpkin- I usually fish 3.5 to 4"ers. drag slow 6 to 12" pause continue back to you if they have not all ready nailed it on the fall.
  24. What kind of gear are you guys using, like rod and reel- casting spinning - M MH Lt 6' 8' ect ect? Also as crestliner mentioned braid- what #test and do you use a leader at all? What line do the rest of you guys use? One last thing is 1/2oz a pretty universal weight to cover a wide range of depths? Thanx in advance
  25. I prefer MH but don't fish over 1/2oz jigs very often. I like the extra flex of the tip a lot of guys don't its personal preference really, those heavier rods can be tough to finesse the jig- if you move the tip with a H power rod the whole jig moves rather than twitching it in place. With a MH you can twitch and also feel the fish before you jerk or move the whole bait away from finicky bass. MH has plenty of power when its time to put the meat to them- hookset no problem. The only time I like a straight up H power rod is for my heavy C-Rig outfit.
