Hi, new guy here, I have a question.
you are on the right track- bass pro combos are great for the guy on a budget. When I was starting out I fished bionic blades and bought used curado's on ebay. Then the more I got into it I began to get into the higher end stuff.

Rod Quality
great post! I often wonder about that as well... as far as the reels and rods- we know they tune their baits more often then not I am sure their combos are all moded out as well. :-X

the most fun thing about spinning tackle
I really like both outfits and they have there benefits! Nothing better than a good working combo BC or spinning!
-
Shimano reel parts
reel mech- are the drag washers a hard install on the scorpion mg 1001's? I hear it is nice upgrade on that reel... I'd just send it to you but I hear you don't work on the Jap model shimano's plus the fish are bite'n.

Citica vs Curado (100D's)
I sure enjoy my curado 100d- great reel, just buy what you can afford. I am sure the citca is good value too

Line Problems?
I am thinking drag issues here...

the most fun thing about spinning tackle
I have the same combo- steez 2500/GLX BSR852. Amazing, I finally got a chance to fish it last weekend. I know it is a bunch of $$$ but wow was it amazing, I can cast that thing a country mile.

I need a multipurpose smallie spinning rod....
G Loomis BSR 852S GLX- great smallmouth rod

Lucky Crafts we don't like?
the cb's 250 and 350 suck- I can't get anything to bite them. I hate the live pointer as well- junk. I consider those baits "unlucky craft".

Re: Baitcast reel for 1/4 oz rig for long distance
last weekend I fished my new scorpion 1001mg with light 1/4oz jigs on a kistler magnesium 6'9" rod with no problems- I was using 6# flourocarbon line as well. Just cause it's finesse does not mean it has to be on spinning gear.

Scorpion 1001 handle?
I like my scorpion 1001mg with the tuned handle :
-
Monofilament vs. Flourocarbon
flouro can be used on spinning tackle- just do not over-spool it. leave a little more room at the end of the spool so it dosen't loop over. Spinning tackle and 4 to 6lb flouro is just about a must here in the northwest, well if you want to catch fish in our clear water that is. ;D

diawa steez rod and reel combos
definately a market for high end bass fishing gear- just like there is a market for bently's and ferrari's in the auto world...
-
Yo-Zuri Hybrid
P-line co-polymer possibly. I like it better than the yo-zuri hybrid for sure but I am sure it is a bit more spendy...
-
What one would you buy? Baitcaster
the Rick Clunn- RC703C, great rod 8-)
-
best line?
I like suffix mono-
-
Would you use 1 pound test??
no
-
Yo-Zuri Hybrid
I tried it cause of what I heard on this forum. Used it once de-spooled it and threw it away- I thought it was junk. You can see it in the water like a "white cable", way too much memory and the pound test is not consistent with other brands- their 6# test is the diameter of most other lines' 10#. If you like it fine... priced right but was not for me- just my opinion- I know the Yo-Zuri lovers are not gunna like this- it's ok.

i truley do not like chatterbaits
not much luck here either- I'd rather just fish a spinnerbait any day- I will giv'em another try this spring tho... since I own a couple.

best place to buy a megabass rod?

Aaron Martens quote about fluo & palomar knots
never had a problem with a palomar knot and fluoro, make sure that line is wet so you don't burn it while sinching it. Love that knot

Favorite rod brand- vote here:
G-Loomis but I tell ya Kistler is very close- the Magnesium TS rod line is amazing and affordable. The GLX is still tops tho. I may get more value out of my Kistler Mag TS' great rods let me tell ya G-Loomis Kistler . . . . everything else

Your favorite reel brand vote here!
pretty hard to pick from Daiwa and Shimano. I like them both- but I went ahead and voted Daiwa cause there are so many Shimano guys on here. I like the shimano BC's and the Daiwa Spinners. Went fishing with a friend that has a Stella 2500 and I own the Steez 2500. I think the Steez is a better reel- newer technology much lighter with a better drag. Both are great reels, it's just time for Shimano to update a bit.

gary yamamoto's hypalon rods
I am curious about these as well- I have only seen them on his website- not anywhere else and have not heard a word about them. For 120.00 could be a great deal it it's a good peice. Hmm hopefully someone chimes in with some info.
