  1. I would go back to the tackle shop and demand an exchange for another one before I shipped it off to Loomis. what kind of customer service is that? you bought a $450 rod and they won't look after you after the purchase, esp. so soon after? ***. I bought a Loomis E6X rod at a spring fishing show and when I went to use it 2 months later I realized that the first big guide made a loud click sound with each cast. I called up the shop, told them what was going on and asked if I could simply exchange it for another one. they did so no problem. They would send the rod back to loomis. Thats customer service. and that was only an e6x which costs half as much. your shop should do the same.
  2. for me, its about the quality of the mid to higher end reels. the smoothness is unmatched and the baitcasters like the curado are true work horses. I have the curado 200i PG and love it. in the spinning department, their "propulsion spool lip" actually works and you can make rocket launcher casts with perfect line lay in reels like the stradic etc.
  3. Sufix Siege for me. its amazing on both baitcasting and spinning. Although I have only used 8 and 10 pound tests. its my go to mono. love the smoke green colour.
  4. almost $500 and look at the way the hoop is screwed into the handle. that will come loose on its own in time. most are bolted on. Ranger Nets are my favorite. mine cost $60 Canadian and would take the title off of that so called champ Mega Ass lolol
  5. Im old school so I like mono for all my fishing. I use Suffix siege for both spinning and baitcasting and love the stuff. its awesome- very limp and very strong. right now im using 8 pound for spinning and 10 pound for baitcasting. but the 8 pound test casts so well and is so limp im think about upping it to the 10 pound for everything for even more strength and it should still cast like a bullet. I will have to see.
  6. I have never fished a lews but I love my curado 200i. I have the PG version.
  7. check out the colour coordination! I now match all spinner baits to the neon green of my E6X lolol
  8. Loomis E6X black rods with neon green accents are the BEST
  9. what about downsizing to the 8 pound test Sufix Siege or Elite? I use the 8 pound elite on a 3000 size shimano and its the farther casting 8 pound line I have ever used. Even farther than Trilene XL. I like the Siege even more, although it probably only casts 90% of the distance the Elite does, it is tougher and possibly stronger for the same test rating. Its the best blend of characteristics in a Monofilament line that I have found. Casts amazing, tough and strong. its my all time favorite mono. Suffix Siege. and the smoke green colour is awesome. I am using 8 pound test on my 3000 stradic and it is awesome.
  10. Agreed. the T handle is much nicer to grip.
  11. if they keep a 5.x cranking reel I might have to sell my 200i PG and swap it out for one of these new puppies. I have no issues with the brakes on the 200i but everyone says the new braking system is way better??
  12. For mono, I love a green line. easier to see above the water for tying knots, harder for the fish to see below in clear or stained water. its a win win.
  13. I guess I was just expecting it to have a lot of memory and not cast well on a spinning reel. but it cast very smooth and long. I was surprised to say the least. now granted, it might be more 'coilly' on my next outing after it sits on my reel for awhile. time will tell. I use 10 pound test on my baitcasting rig and was impressed, that's why I figured I give 8 pound a try on my spinning rig.
  14. shimano Facebook said a 150 size but I have seen spec charts for the G that say 200 size (110 yards of 14 pound mono) which corroborates the 200 size. weird. anyone know?
  15. I believe the spool is magnesium so even in brackish waster estuaries it could rust. I wouldn't chance it on a reel of the price and quality of a chronarch. they are coming out with a salt friendly chronarch 200 size at iCAST this year.
  16. Hi all, does anyone else use Sufix Siege mono on spinning gear? I put 8 pound test siege on my 3000 stradic yesterday and I was amazed at how long and smooth it cast, for supposedly a 'tough' (aka stiff) line. I think I got a bad spool lol this may be my new go to for mono applications. its strong as hell but seems to cast like a dream. I would say it cast 95% as good as the elite, but it seems much stronger for its rated pound test. I had read some bad reviews of it on spinning gear (but no pound test specified). At least in the lower pound tests the stuff seems awesome. anyone else brave enough to use it for spinning gear?
  17. on Facebook, Fish Shimano stated the Chronarch G was a 150 size.
  18. Although the handle sizes are the same size, the knob size is bigger/better on the 200i. A bigger knob is always better.
  19. I thought all Loomis rods have foregrips? that's part of why I love them, they are not going the 'mainstream' route of no foregrips and EVA foam handles. they all have foregrips and nice comfortable cork grips. At least all their bass rods do (NRX, IMX, E6X etc) Baitcasting and spinning. Please Loomis, don't you ever change lol
  20. that comfortable handle knob alone is still better than a Quantum!
  21. I own the JWR852S E6X (1/8 oz to 3/8 oz) and I find it to be a light and fantastic rod, feels great with a size 3000 stradic on it. but I picked up the same rod in the heavier power (med heavy 3/16oz to 5/8 oz) and it feels way heavier and clunky. its like the med heavy E6X's feel more like a heavy power rod and are physically much heavier than their lighter cousins. I would imagine they are strong as hell though. The same is probably true of the baitcasting versions. 852C is probably light and very nice, 853C is probably like a broomstick??
