  1. I'm heading down to topsail island to my moms for a week the beginning of March. I was wondering If there are any good places to bass fish? I'll be bringing my 16' jet boat with me. I'm willing to travel hour and half or so if the fishing is good. I will be hitting either sheron harris, falls, or jordan lake on my way back to VA just haven't decided which 1 yet. Just trying to find some fish for a week while I'm house and dog sitting. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  2. Would love to see a picture of that slammer
  3. I would say it's pretty close to 1100lbs
  4. Does anybody know how a micro powerpole would work in river current on a 16' jet boat?
  5. Yea I'm not sure what's going on I've never seen them have a sale like that. I seen they just got in new stuff like they now have the storm search 360 swimbaits and a few other things and restocked line that they just had a blowout on like the power pro and mustad braid and red eyes
  6. Yea the guy that works in sporting goods said the lady had to stop marking down stuff because she was getting ran over by people They also had Gammy hooks for $1 a pack which I stocked up on
  7. I just got a pack of 30lb power pro super slick 8 for $1! 4 packs of mustad 50 & 65lb braid for $1 a pack, along with 4 red eye shads for $1 a piece 3 strike king spinnerbaits for $1 a piece, 3 packs of strike king tungsten weights for $1 a piece, a can of bang, storm bluegill swimbaits for $1 and 2 rapala shad raps for $1 a piece!! I missed getting a bunch more stuff by a couple hours. My Walmart is remodling and had a huge sale and I loved it just wish I coulda got more If I knew how to post pics I would but haven't figured it out yet
  8. I just received my sample pack of drop shot hooks I haven't tried them out yet but will give them a shot someday. They look like they might hold a nose hooked bait pretty well but I'm not sure about how they will hold a fish.
  9. What lake are you fishing in Va? I live in northwestern va and would like to catch some spots since I've never caught 1.
  10. I like those heads on the olive jigs. What size are they?
  11. Get on YouTube and watch some of smalljaw's videos. He is very informative and ties some pretty sweet looking jigs!! I have learned a lot from watching his videos. And also and great guy to talk to if you ever get the chance to meet him!!
  12. I caught a 5.5lb largemouth this past year on the Ned rig. Along with countless other bass. It was definitely 1 of my top producing baits this past year. Nice fish too by the way. And I wouldn't leave home without he Ned rig anymore if I was you. There is a great article on the Ned rig this month in bassmaster magazine if you get a chance to check it out

I like the aerosol can because it doesn't really make a mess. Just make sure the wind isn't blowing toward you or your partner when you spray it I've heard it doesn't taste too good ??

All I use is the bang pure craw in the aerosol can and I swear by it. I use it pretty much all my baits. Weather it really makes a difference or not I don't know but I guess it more of a confidence thing for me.
  15. If I could figure out how to put up pictures I would post some of my jigs. If somebody could please help explain how to post them I would greatly appreciate it I don't have a computer so I will be doing it off my cell phone which is where all of my pictures are if that helps any
  16. Just got my new helix 7 G2 yesterday and got it put on my boat and wired up. I talked to Wayne P. this morning And he helped me get all my settings and everything all worked out. Wayne has been a HUGE help in helping me out in learning about my first SI uni and he really knows his stuff!! I'm going out tomorrow to try it out I can post a review if anybody is interested
  17. Ok sounds good thanks
  18. I was just on TW's website and I didn't see anything about a Black Friday sale. When will they put up that info?
  19. I'll definitely be there!! I missed it last year
  20. I make my own small marabou and hair jigs just for cold water bass fishing. When most people see them they think they are for panfish, and I do occasionally catch some on them but they go swimming in oil ? I also sell my jigs if your interested PM me.
  21. I'm looking to get a new flipping rod but the problem is im only 5'5 so longer rods are a little harder for me to use. Right now I'm using a 6'6 MH lews laser mg combo it does ok but just want something nicer. So any suggestions on what length I should get would be greatly appreciated. I'm open to any brand and looking to spend $150-200. Also looking to get a new reel in the same price range Thanks Scott
  22. What a hog!!!!!! Congrats man!! I would LOVE to catch a smallie that big!! What lake are you fishing?
  23. I have a 16' tracker grizzly with a 60/40 jet and I love it!! It will run about 28mph but that is fast enough in less than a FOW!! I mainly fish the Shenandoah river which is VERY rocky so you have to be careful if you are running them in rocky places because you can get seriously hurt if you don't read the water right. People say you don't have a front deck to fish off of that isn't true. If you can't find a set up you like buy a good boat and motor and just build the layout you like. If you do decide to build just watch your weight and weight distribution. I'm about to put a bigger deck on mine and move my gas tank and take out the cooler livewell that he previous owner put in. I will be posting my build on here later on. You can PM me for more info on jet boats that's all pretty much everybody around here runs.
  24. I find all the swivels are to tight and when you try to pull your line up it cuts it then when you cast the force snaps the line at the weight and off it flies!! I use my split ring pliers and open all my swivels a little bit when I buy a new pack and then when I need 1 I gently squeeze them back not to snug and tie a few over hand knots to hold them and I rarely lose any now.
  25. If I'm throwing a 5" it's for largemouth but I throw 3-4" 95% of the time for large and smallmouth
