  1. I do carry a backpack, but like someone mention they can get heavy. I think the idea of having spare boxes and fill them before my outing is probably what I have to try, I am not the most organized person in the world but I need to try something. Thanks for the ideas and replies.
  2. I need to add that I fish out of a one man pontoon, it has two bags to store tackle but I can only have 4 8" boxes and my two binders, anything else will need to go outside on the back, if I ever get a milk crate to put my stuff in there. Thanks for the help.
  3. Ok, I am getting to the point where I need to find a better system to organize my tackle boxes and lures. I have some of the Plano boxes, some 8" and some 10" long, 2 cases with the binder pouches for plastics and the second one for spinnerbaits and spoons. On the plano boxes I have one with small diving crankbaits, one with the cigar type like the x-rap, one with crankbaits like the ratle-trap. I like to be able to have a little of everything on my boxes but I am not sure that is a good idea. Another option is to carry with me 4 boxes everytime I go fishing so I can carry a lot of the stuff I have. How do you guys do it?
  4. You do have a lot of boxes, but if your wife is ok with it great! You said you have lures for different technics on them, can you elaborate please?
  5. I know I heard some guys saying they did not quite like that line, that is what made me start this thread. I have been using 8lb for dropshooting but I like to see if there is a better line for me out there.
  6. Well, I got some P-line on 8lbs test, I will give it a try and see how I like it.
  7. I am using 4in roboworms for my dropshot. thanks for the reply.
  8. I have been thinking about using flourocarbon for my dropshot rod, but I am not sure which brand to get, I am thinking to get a 10-12lbs test. What do you guys/girls use?
  9. Ouch!!! :'( :'( that looks painfull! I have no idea how to take it out!
  10. I am sorry to hear this. All I can tell you is to hang in there man, don't let this stop you from fishing, who knows you may regret it later. I know times are difficult but just keep trying, you don't need to be in a boat to catch fish, try shore fishing or try for bluegills or catfish and get back in the swing of things. Keep your head up!
  11. I know what you mean. My wife asked me what would happen if I actually work there, I told her I would be putting some mad overtime, I just like that place so much, and probably would need to work a ton of hours to cover for all the stuff I would buy. :'(
  12. I got a few drop-shooting plastics and weights, some crankbaits also; mainly the stuff I cannot get here in town. Being in Vegas made it easier to not go over board, I wanted to do other things around town also.
  13. Manager ain 't a bass fishing aficionado :, Fat Ika = Kinami Palm Tree. BPS doesn 't carry Fat Ikas but it does carry Kinami Palm Trees. you are probably right about that! I remember reading about the other similar bait but I could not remember the name, I was sure they would have it in stock, that is ok, next month we are going to Scottsdale and there is a BPS and Cabella's in the area. Payback time, ;D
  14. ;D tell me about it. I could not buy the fishing rod I wanted because it would not fit in my car's trunk and was a 1 piece rod, and could not put in inside the car, with a 5 hr drive something was bound to happen. I think I have pretty good self control, ;D
  15. You are right about that, they do make it fun. My kids enjoyed themselves also. We went to Lake Mead also and that lake is so different from what I am used to fishing, I did not see any weeds surfacing and seem like it is very deep water, I don't think I would know how to fish there. I usually fish no deeper than 20' of water and most of the time I am trowing my lure at something, weeds, pile of rocks or something I can see on the surface. What technics are good in that lake? they do have a ton of carp, you see a lot of people feeding them pop corn. Saw some stripers feeding also.
  16. This weekend I took the family to Vegas, to visit family out there, kind of like a family reunion since some of us came from different places in the country. My one thing I wanted to do was to visit BPS, I have never been to one. I have visited Cabella's in the Phoenix area but have not made it to BPS. I walked around with the kids and saw the fish in the fish tanks and the played on the arcades, then it was time for me to shop, I had a list of things I wanted to bring back and wanted to do my best to stay within that list so I don't ended up spending all my fun money in there. Made it out of there only spending $75 including taxes. I had a rod in my hand when the wife asked me where I was putting that since it would not fit in the car, so I put it back, but went back and for a few times in the isles. My wife said my eyes got big and they were sparkling when we first got there, LOL. I was disappointed to find out they did not have the Fat Ika, :'(, I could not find them and finally asked one of the managers there and he said he never heard of them, helped me look but could not find them either. Good reason to go to Cabella's next month. All in all, it was fun.
  17. Welcome to the forum and to bass fishing. One thing I can tell you is to practice fishing one technic at the time, I know for me there are way too many ways to catch fish, learn 2-3 and practice, practice and then practice some more. Once you can consistently catch bass on those 2-3 technics you can move on in to something else. You also need to have lots of patiance while practicing, try to improve everytime you are in the water.
  18. for some time I was always taking my kids with me when I went bank fishing, and I would bring the dogs along. I always end up not doing much fishing and more watching, sometimes my kids, some times the dogs, it was more trouble than relaxing. Now my son likes to go only occasionally and that is fine with me. I don't take the dogs anymore.
  19. I have a one man pontoon so I can't take anyone with me on the water, so I fish mostly by myself, but the few times I gone out with someone either on their boat or bank fishing I enjoy it too. Like you said, the nice thing about being by yourself is that you are the only one deciding what, when, and how you do your fishing, not having to wait for someone and compromise with what someone wants to do. Ont the other hand, I ussually forget my camera, so I need a witness when I catch my 10lbr fish. ;D ;D
  20. I know what you mean, I keep telling myself that I like to sleep in during the weekend, but I end up awake by 6:30-7:00 am at the latest, when it is not the wife, it's the kids or the 4 legged kids in the house asking for food. Then after that I can go fishing. A couple of weeks ago I went fishing with an accuantance and he hooked up a huge (2lbs) fish. I say huge because all I ever catch are 14in fish and smaller, to see him fight that fish was awsome and I keep thinking that I will get one like that soon, all I have to do is keep my bait in the water, and sooner or later ...
  21. Great stories everyone. Lavrax, I am glad I am not the onlyone who has done this.
  22. I got another one, years ago, fishing a buzzbait on the Desplains river in Illinois. The first 15 minutes of casting I was paying very close attention and very focused, after that, my mind started wondering and I was not paying that much attention, when I get a bite and the big splash on the surface and the fish striking my lure scare the you know what out of me, my reaction was to pull the rod towards me and lost what I think was a nice fish. I learn to always pay attention!!
  23. I don't know about a coke head, but I am sure the producers edit a full day of fishing in to the most "exciting" 30 minutes for the show, and those happen to be the times when he is being the loudest, either catching fish or just being funny. They will not show the times when it is kind of boring if they want us to be watching the show. Just my $0.02
  24. LOL, my super weapon was the "Flying lure", I don't think I ever tried that on the water. Good stories, keep them coming!
  25. What are some of the silly things you did when you stated fishing? I remember buying a pack of powerworms and cutting one in half to put on my hook, kind of like how you would hook a nightcrawler. You know I did not catch anything. I was thinking I would save money if I got those worms that don't die. ;D ;D A guy I know told me he put a piece of tortilla on a small fly fishing popper and trew it in the water, of course he did not catch anything. got any stories like that? care to share?
