  1. Agreed. Thank you. ;D ;D
  2. I understand what you say, however, if I wanted to shield my kids from any and all acts of unprofessionalism I would have to live in Siberia somewhere. you just need to watch the news and see how bad some professionals behave. I just hope my kids have enough commun sence to not do some of that stuff. I don't think screaming and puting your pliers thru your boat is the worse we have seen. My 13 year old and I were laughing when Mike was on the boat floor screaming like crazy.
  3. I don't think he is over the top. I think it is funny and I like the emotion shown. I do think that he brings lots of personality and talent to the tournoments. Every angler has different ways and personality, some quiet, some not so quiet. I personally like the way he "celebrates" landing his big fish. I have seen local guys scream like him before landing the fish, only to lose it right at the boat, or guys loosing the big one and having a fit about it afterwards. Imagine doing all this for a living, could you not show emotion? The way I see it is like a running back in football going all the way and having an end zone dance, some guys dance and some don't. Him sticking his pliers on the boat is like any golf player trowing the clubs, I am not saying I would do it, but I understand frustration.
  4. I live in Arizona and fish the Colorado river, I need to purchase a California fishing stamp that cost $10 to be able to fish the river on either side, California or Arizona. I supose I could just have the regular Az license and just fish the Az side but there are some parts where the boundries are not very well defined and I just prefer not to take a chance.
  5. Sorry to heat that, I hope you get it back.
  6. Nope, I havent heard of that before.... Is it similar to salmonella? Funny
  7. I don't do it but... do you think that the fish that had been kissed will go back and "tell" the others?!?! :-* :-* :
  8. I agree that a larger hook will most likely kill the fish, but what you saw sounds like the line broke off during the fight and the fish just swallowed it later. I had seen a senko in the fish gullet before and I could not get it out, I removed my hook and let the little guy go with the senko still in him.
  9. AAAhh, the Mirage, that is what I want, unfortunatly I have to wait till I pay my bike off.
  10. I have this one: http://www.creekcompany.com/indivdisplay_contest.php?primaryAutoID=6 I like it, it is the entry level pontoon they have and I am very please with it, maybe a higher priced one would be nicer but this is definatly an affordable way to get in the water, this company also has rod holders and a few other accesories you can get. I also have to say that they have very good customer service, when I received mine the package looked like it was dragged by the UPS man and one of the inflatable parts had a hole in it, I called them up and they send me a new one; another time I called looking to get some of the safety pins they use for it's assembly because I broke a couple of them getting the pontoon out of the water in a 15ft incline and the Creek co. send them for free. I will always come back to a good customer service company.
  11. My bet is that is KVD used it on a turnoment and won, we will all be trying to buy that lure, even if it is $35.00. ;D
  12. Cool!, thanks for the reply, I will be trying them this weekend.
  13. found this one
  14. I was at Cabela's this weekend and looked hard for the Fat Ika and there was none, then I went by the saltwater tackle and they had the saltwater version of the Ika, I did get some packages of those and hope they are not too big for bass in the places I fish. Do you guys think they will produce for me?
  15. Since you say you are fairly new to fishing i am assuming you fish from the bank, so my opinion, and you know what they about them, is to get a float tube, this will get you away from the bank and your whole experience changes. You can always get lures later, once you know what works in your area and what someone there recommends. It also depends on what kind of fishing you like to do.
  16. I should add that it is ok to buy inexpensive plastics but always buy quality hooks, they are worth the extra $$.
  17. You can usually always catch a sale somewhere, and buy the brand name stuff, but as long as you are catching fish with the cheap stuff, who cares? bass don't know what you paid for the stuff!!
  18. I would think that would be a cool job, talk fising all day long and get discounts on your fishing stuff. I believe by law you need to get your days off every week, at least one and you also have vacation time, you may not be able to get it during the holidays but you will get time off.
  19. Thanks for commenting everyone, very informative.
  20. Do you have one of those kayaks James? what are you compering it to? you don't say why you like it that is why I have to ask. I will be getting a kayak in the next year or so and there is so much info and options out there. I like this one: http://www.hobiecat.com/kayaking/ the model I like is the Revolution.
  21. Little Luey replied to Josh.'s topic in Fishing Tackle
hmmm, interesting. I will have to try this soon. Do you guys think is ok to use a swivel to prevent line twist? this may call for a lighter split shot after all.
  22. Thanks for the replies guys. I guess it is always easier to see what I should have done afterwards. That's ok, I learned something.
  23. Help me out here please
  24. This past sunday I went to a local pond, I was all by myself most of the morning, some people came to fish the shore but left within a few minutes. As I put my pontoon in the water I have with me three fishing poles, one with my dropshooting worm, one with a texas rig and the other one with a small cranckbait. I got a bite on the third cast with the crankbait, a small fish but a fish none the lest. Now I read before that once you find a fish (get a bite) you want to slow down your presentation because bass are supposed to be schooling in the area. So after a few more casts with the crankbait, I take the dropshoot rod and tried for a while with no bites to speak of. This got me thinking, should I have stayed with the crankbait a little longer?! I am not sure why the fish was where I cought it because it was no visible cover showing but maybe there is some structure on the area, or how far the fish went to hit my lure. Later that morning I got another fish dropshooting, a small keeper that had swallowed a senko (not mine), when I first got it I did not realized what it was sticking out of it's mouth, all you could see was the round end of it sticking out. It was not untill I pulled one of mine to tie it up that I realized what that was in the fish mouth. So, do you stay with what got you the first bite until they are not biting that anymore or do you slow down your presentation to work the area?
  25. Thanks Paul, that is very informative since on your tube you would have the same space restrictions I have and I always want to have what I need in any body of water. I think I am going to have something like you describe, for instance, I know I will always use a Texas rigged worm and a dropshot, all the weights and hooks can go on one box and keep the plastics on my binder, then have a few cranks and plugs on different boxes according to where I go, and different sizes on another box. Here in Az it is sunny basically year round so I don't have to have "cloudy lures" with me. A pond I go to is only 10' depth and stained water, no need to bring the deep diving cranks, and need bright lures; while I can use those at the Colorado river. Thanks again everyone for the help.
