That's cool. I lived on the south side and also in the West Suburbs, so I don't know a lot of the North suburbs but maybe someone can help out. I am sure there are small ponds in your area, that is a good way to practice without having to drive too far. I believe the Fox river goes thru Rockford, that may be closer to you also. I used to Catfisf the lower area of the Fox by Aurora.

Welcome to the forum. I am a Chicago native myself, moved to Az 4 years a go. I used to fish a few ponds in the south side of chicago, Marquett park, a pond of La grange rd close to I-88, I don't know the name of it but it is a forrest preserve, saw some big fish there but never was able to catch any there. A place I always did very good was at Starved Rock park, it is about 100 miles west of Chicago. Fox river by Aurora. kankeke river was good also. My very first fishing trip was to Chain O'lakes, it was a blast. I even tried salmon snaging at Lincon Park lagoon.

I got two, but they are not hunting dogs, one is a shi-su that must think he is bigger than he really is and the second one is a hyperactive mutt, (australian sheppard + unknow), she likes to hang with me all the time, she is my "other" female.

You better check the JETS out alittle, they had great Running game with Jones, a good defense as well. Not much difference in the situations, other than Bret plays in a dome instead of outdoors. I'm starting to view this a Brets way to punish the Packers for pushing him out the door. yea, the Jets and the Vikes are about the same, having good running, defence and having a desperate coach who wants to win at all cost. And that cost Manginni his job, when he could not win. Favre brought a lot of locker room drama, remember Jones comments about him? the part I see different is that, the Jets send his former QB to Miami, but the Vikes still have the two other guys who were supposed to be competting for the job, how thrill do you think they are right about now? do you really think Favre getting special treatment will sit right with everyone in that locker room? I am not so sure. But he will not come to the Bears, the Lions can have him as far as I am concern. ;D ;D

I see what you are saying. That may be the case with the Lions, but Al Davis is supposed to be a football guy, was a coach and has been around football for half his life at least. But it is the same thing you mention, he won't let his own people coach and run the team, he seems like he just can't give up the power to anyone. It is a wonder anyone would want to work for him. that is bad.

Man, I feel for you. I am a Chicago Southside native relocated to Az and we know the White Sox couldn't have worst ownership, Jerry Raindsford(sp) also owns the Bulls and he is terrible, not really concerned with anything but his pocket. I am just glad the gor ride of Jerry Krause a long time a go. Anyone who drives Micheal Jordan out of the team and city deserves a big fat ZERO.

Very nice thread. My goal every time out is to not go fishless. I know I have to have plan every time but I don't, sometimes I don't even know where I will be bank fishing, I want to be in an area without many people fishing so sometimes I drive around. When I have my pontoon it is easier to pick a spot. I spend the first hour or so trying new things, if I don't catch any fish I drop shot for a while and that usually produces for me. This thread is making me think I need to get back to basics and try to improve 1 or 2 technics insted ot trying everything in the tacle box, pick a spot and slowlly fish it.

Thats why im hoping and praying for Silva vs. GSP at 185 that wouyld be a must see fight for sure, but I think it wouldn't happen, there is just too much difference in weight between the two.

Silva seem a step ahead of Forrest the entire time; the part that was very unlike him was when he tried to help Forrest of the ground and was waving at him to "come on", I have never seen Silva do that and thought it was kind of out of character, borderline poor sportmanship on his part. But then Forrest did the same when he ran out of the ring. On paper it seem like Forrest had a shot at doing some damage but it wasn't even close. This fight will start the pound per pound argument again: Silva or GSP. Silva can definatly hold his own at 205lbs.

what a difference a couple of years makes. A couple of years back there were more questions about him than answers, is he ever going to get out of Payton's shadow? does he look confortable in the pocket? yada, yada, yada. Good for him, he got the monkey of his back with that SB ring.

mmm, I liked those movies. I will be going to see GI Joe with my son when it comes out. It is entretainment and I don't spect to see anything like the old cartoons. Seems to be full of action, even if it is not like the old GI Joe we know.

congrats on your purchase. I have a one man pontoon with some rod holders and I usually put a couple of cranckbaits out when I get it in the water, the way I see it, the longer I keep a lure in the water the bewtter my chances or getting a fish are; I will not catch a fish with the lures in my box but if they are in the water my chances are better. I have caught fish trolling before also, I think the erratic movement of my rowing must give a good "fish in distress" action. Good luck and report back what you experience.
