Bill Dance's Incredible Crankbait TIP!!!!!
I like Bill Dance's show, I try to watch it as much as possible. I am one of those guys who did not have anyone teach me fishing, I have been since I started reinventing the wheel so to speak. Now that I can catch a fish or two I can say it was thanks to all the fishing shows I watch, the fishing magazines and articles I read and the forums like this one. Bill Dance is also a good teacher, he explaind the technics in a way anyone can use the information and that is good for me, I think Raul hit it right on the nail. I am one of those asking beginer questions but I also look forward to the time when I get to help someone out. I also like "City limits" but that show it is not very teaching oriented, it is more a watch me catch fish kind of show. I can say I like Mike Iconelli also. At this time in my fishing skill level, I need all the teaching I can get.

Charlie Moore Revisited
I like the show, IMO that is what fishing should be about, having fun, and he seems like he has fun every time out in the water. I think I could hang with the man. Sometimes the host of the show has very little to do with what happens in the shows, the producers may be the ones not wanting to have any charity involved with the show, I don't know for sure, but I would not hate the guy because he decides to fish with others and not me.

Soft plastic bait colors
that is what I mean, and yet, I have cought bass on that chartrouse color and the roboworms I described; so I know they can catch fish, I just don't know that the fish is seeing or if they strike simply because a smaller "animal" is in front of them.

Soft plastic bait colors
I was wondering why is it that there are colors of baits that really do not look like any fish or any other live animal. The watermelon color senko for instance, with different color specs on them; the roboworms have purple, gray, blue and black on one worm. How about charteouse (sp)? What are this combinations supposed to imitate or what is the deal with colors like that? I have a hard time relate those colors to anything a fish may eat in a lake. I can undestand the "natural" colors, bluegill, shad etc. Can someone help me out please?

Fist time out fishing with the Zoom Fluke
I keep seeing on the answers one comun color, WATERMELON and something else but always watermelon. What natural fish this color imitates or what is the reason bass seem to bite this color for many of us in diferent places on the country?

Fist time out fishing with the Zoom Fluke
Thanks guys. Now as far as where to fish it, I was trowing the Fluke to an area where you could see weeds maybe 6-10 inches from the surface, thinking that a bass may be in the weeds and see the bait. does that make sence to you all? I was bank fishing.

Fist time out fishing with the Zoom Fluke
Thanks for the replies everyone. I have a light spinning rod with 6 lb test mono and I will try the Flukes on that set up next time out. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Fist time out fishing with the Zoom Fluke
I did the short jerks, then turn the handle, maybe 1 turn, waited a couple of seconds, another jerk... is this right?

Fist time out fishing with the Zoom Fluke
I tried to catch fish yesterday with a Fluke but it did not go very well. I am thinking this bait imitates an injured baitfish?!? I had a spinning rod with 14lbs test mono and a 4/0 work hook. The line was unwinding wrong and had a few birdnests, it was a little windy out but not terrible. I could not feel the bait moving in the water. Do you think I should use a ligh action rod and a lighter line for this bait? Any tip is appreciated. Thanks.

Oakley polarized glasses
I have always wore the cheap Walmart and gas station sunglasses simply because I always lose them or break them. My wife has been saying for a while that if I a pair of good glasses I would take better care of them, I am about to find out. I got a pair of Oakleys from a guy at work for $30, they were a Christmas present and he said they are not his style so he just wanted to get ride of them. I just have been working too many hrs to get out to fish. I hope to use them this weekend.

Tryin to get better at bass fishing
I am doing that also. Someone adviced me to take one technic and practice it for a while, don't do nothing else but that one familly of lures for a few outings. Only take to the water a box with whatever you choose for the day. This proved to be very difficult to do for me, because I was always wondering if the fish were biting the one lure I left at home. ;D It was a good idea but it took a while for me to stick with it.

Tryin to get better at bass fishing
I am on the same boat you are. I like to read the articles in this site, I think they are the most informative and it can take me a while to read about one single technic since there are always more than a few articles so you get to see a few different opinions and ways of doing things. I also go to youtube.com, they have clips on "how to" and they are also good. One of my goal this year is to go out with a guide for a day, I think all you see and read is good but having someone watch you and correct your mistake on the spot is probably the best.

Braided line or flourocarbon
Got you. so if I had the same diameter line they would probably float/sink about the same. Since the 30lb braid is probably smaller diameter than the 17lb mono I had before it went underwater faster. The same way, if I had changed to 10lb mono it would have sinked faster. That makes sence. the drag need to be looser than it would with mono, right?
-
Braided line or flourocarbon
I must have been imagining things then. I could swear the braid was sinking faster than the 17lb mono I had. Maybe the lure just reacted different from what I am used to. If I wanted to try flurocarbon for my dropshooting, is it easier to just put that line on my reel instead of using a leader? my thinking is that this way I don't have to worry about my knots not being perfect, the least amount of knots is better IMO. does that make sence or am I crazy? ;D
-
Braided line or flourocarbon
I have Power Pro. Do you think it floats more than mono? what is the purpose of using a fluro leader? do you atach it to a swivel or direct to the line?

Reel speed question
Cool. I don't own any huge swimbaits at this time, I am not sure I want to spend the $$ for the lures and the heavy rod neede for it. I do have some smaller swimbaits, like 1 oz I believe, I should be able to trow those with what I got. Thanks guys.
